I am so grateful that Jess was my doula! I have already had two natural childbirths, but having Jess for my 3rd natural birth was a game changer. My first labor was very quick, but because I had never experienced it before I was making decisions on when to go to the hospital, navigating labor pains etc on my own. The second time, my baby was premature so again it felt like uncharted territory on my own. So I knew I wanted to have a different experience.
Throughout my whole pregnancy, if I had a question about something or just wanted a sounding board Jess was there to talk me through the decision making process. She helped me evaluate the pros and cons without inserting her own opinion. I had some anxiety about making it to the labor and delivery floor since my first two came so quickly and it was so helpful having someone else encourage me that I would make it this time.
When it felt like labor was actually starting, Jess gave me helpful tools to get my heart/mind/body ready. I called her at midnight and she was very responsive. The hospital was busy when we arrived and I was in very active labor. Jess truly was my advocate and got me into a tub room despite the business. She communicated to the midwife and nurses my birthing desires, set up candles, affirmation cards, and music --this allowed me to fully be in my body and have the best birth of the three!
If I could go back in time, I would have had her as my doula for all of my births! So very grateful and I hope every mom whether first time or not, gets to experience her care.
