I highly recommend Alex as a birth doula. My labor and birth of our first child were positive, largely due to Alex.
When my water broke 3 weeks early, Alex and her doula partner, Luna, supported us virtually from home to OBGYN office to hospital to be induced. They helped set the expectation that pitocin contractions could be more painful and gave me information to advocate for myself once I arrived at the hospital. When contractions became more intense, Alex worked tirelessly to keep me comfortable and support my preference to try laboring naturally (but keep the epidural an option). When I wanted the epidural, Alex was non-judgmental and gave me foot massages / aromatherapy while we waited for the anesthesiologist.
When it came time to push, our baby arrived after only 30-45 minutes. I attribute that to exercises Alex and Luna recommended during my pregnancy.
From when my water broke to birth, it was close to 40 hours. Throughout that period, Alex was a calm, consistent presence, sharing helpful information and helping me process / navigate decisions. She also made me feel like a rock star through every phase. Post-hospital, Alex checked in regularly, and we still rely on her as a resource. We can’t say thank you enough!
