Ryah was our essential, amazing support at both of our births. Our first ended in an inevitable gentle c section, and the second was a successful VBAC. We had 3 days of prodomal labor in which I was feeling so overwhelmed and defeated. By the end of the third day, I was about to go in and ask for a c section, I was so desperate for sleep. Ryah encouraged us to just go checked out and see what the options were. This really lifted my spirits and gave me hope. The change of pace was exactly what I needed. We were admitted at was 4-5 cm and things progressed quickly. Things then stalled at 8 cm for 6 hours. The midwives became concerned at some heart decelerations and started discussing c section. Ryah jumped in and advocated for us to do some baby spinning and was hands on and creative. She guided me in the pushing and provided encouragement, and really guided us to have this VBAC. I don't know if it would have happened without her, she's truly incredible.
Although I had been awake for 4 days, she offered so much encouragement, kept my spirits high, and had tons of experience to help us discuss potential problems. Her dedication is one of a kind. Coming over in the middle of the night when we needed her, deploying advanced labor coping tools, and working her whole body to correctly position our baby for a successful VBAC.
