I found Lori on Doula Match early in my pregnancy with my daughter. I had known for a long time that I wanted a doula and when I read Lori's bio and saw her experience I was excited to meet with her. We had a great long phone chat and I was excited to meet in person. When we met in person the first time she was warm, knowledgeable, kind, and my husband and I both liked her and decided to hire her. Over a few visits prior to the birth we had lots of chats about what I was hoping for and how I thought she could best support me. She was super responsive leading up to the birth and was the one to tell me that she thought my water share broken and that there was meconium, telling me to get it checked out, which started the birth.
Once labour had started, she was there and helping my husband with massage and counter pressure and was a key reason that I was able to manage through an induction without an epidural. She kept me and my husband calm, and filled in for him when he needed to leave the room. During pushing she was supportive and gave me great suggestions. Once my daughter was born, she stayed with me when my husband and daughter went to the nicu. We were so grateful to have her there, my husband especially has said he would have had a much different experience without her.
She brought us food for our first night postpartum, and we had multiple postpartum visits where she helped around the house, brought more delicious food, and answered lots of questions. We would absolutely hire again if we have another child. Thank you Lori!!!
