I am so thankful to say that hiring Renee was the best decision we could have possibly made.
As my wife was in latent labor for 4 days of no sleep, 10-20min gaps in contractions, Renee made herself available 24/7 to support and guide us through a difficult decision of altering our entire birth plan based on the abnormal latent labor. We spent the night in the hospital and at 6:45am the nurse told me that we most likely would not expect any active labor for many hours later. We had left our dog alone at the house, so I took the opportunity while my wife was finally asleep to drive 45min to our house. During that drive, I called Renee to give her an update that we were hours out from delivery and to be ready later that evening. When I was 5 minutes away from home, I got a call from my wife saying that she is 10cm dilated and this baby is coming! Renee left immediately and met us at the hospital.
During labor, Renee was the most calming and helpful coach for helping push the baby. My wife was exhausted and it was difficult to make progress in the active labor stage. Renee told our nurses to bring a mirror in, which was a life saver! It really helped show my wife that her pushing was amounting to something, it wasn't just a bunch of people telling her she is doing great, but not seeing any progress. Renee stepped in and really made the final pushes happen. Without me even realizing it, Renee has also used my phone to video the final pushes and birth, the cutting of the cord, and naming of the baby.
Renee continuously checked in on us postpartum, offering to help in any way. She made sure we were adjusting well and reassured us that we were doing a good job. Renee was someone who was on our side every step of the way with no judgement, just guidance and aid. She even did all the dishes in our kitchen just to be helpful!
