BEYOND grateful to have Jillian and Meredith to guide us through our first pregnancy and birth. Having our 1:1 birth prep classes and sessions in our home was absolutely worth the investment; it made scheduling around our busy schedules SO much easier.
My husband was very much in the “Millions of people have babies every day, why would we need a doula? It can’t be that hard.” camp when we got pregnant. However, he now looks back and is VERY grateful we had direction and support during the journey! Jillian & Meredith did a remarkable job meeting both my husband and me where we were at, guiding us in a way that helped me to feel assured, my husband to feel included, and both of us to feel heard.
When my water broke late at night, Jillian offered great coaching & peace of mind via phone until it was time for her to arrive for in-person support. She coached me through contractions while guiding my husband to ensure the car was packed and ready. One of my top requests had always been to stay at home until it was truly the appropriate time to head to the hospital…and she did an amazing job at reading me and timing things just right!
Having Jillian with us at the hospital gave me confidence that my birth wishes would be respected even when I wasn’t able to speak up very eloquently during labor! She was an ideal balance of advocating for my desires while navigating hospital staff. ?? We ended up with a healthy baby born via water birth!
Both ladies followed up with us post-birth for postpartum/latching help in the weeks following. Of course nothing can quite prepare you for first-time mamahood, but I could not be more grateful for the coaching we received from MSP Doulas
