I had a beautiful home water birth and every little thing counts during labor. She made sure I was calmly taken care of (and my husband too) the second she walked in the door. She made sure I was eating and drinking to keep up my energy while laboring at home.
During labor, she asked if I wanted to try different positions to help my body do its job. She also suggested I try to rest in my bed, which I appreciate, because me being able to relax helped the process move more quickly. She helped me stay calm during AND after my transition period which was very important to me. And said all the right things while I was pushing.
After the birth she stayed and made sure we didn't need anything else before she left. She even loaded our dishwasher for us and did a load of laundry! She helped me find a lactation consultant when I was having trouble with my daughter latching. She made sure was/am set up with tons of resources (books/informational videos/personal connections) to help me while pregnant, during labor, AND postpartum. During one of my home visits before giving birth, she even toured the baby room and gave honest suggestions on what else I could get that would be helpful. I could say a million great things about her, truly!
