Tanner was incredible. We're so grateful we got connected with her for the birth of our daughter! From the first meeting and throughout the labor and birth, Tanner was personable, relatable, gentle, professional, and deeply knowledgable. She equipped us beforehand with information we could review so that we could make educated decisions in the hospital, and she provided information for preparing for birth with stretches, breathing exercises, and such. I felt ready going into the birth. However, it was wonderful to know that I didn't need to be prepared for every scenario because Tanner was present to talk us through questions that the doctor and nurses presented us along the way. After asking a question, we'd ask the nurse or doctor for 10 minutes to talk it over and then we'd have time to discuss it with Tanner and get her perspective. This allowed us to feel informed about every step, and confident with each of the decisions we made.
In addition, it was important to me to seek birth support from a fellow Christian. Though I know this is not everyone's goal for birth support, in my case it was wonderful to be able to pray together and to know she was both comfortable and encouraging of my use of Scripture and instrumental worship music during labor.
Her knowledge and the positions she suggested during labor allowed for a sweet, intentional experience. And when it came time for active labor and pushing, she provided a strong voice to talk me through each contraction and sensation, especially when I began to feel like I couldn't do it. Her supportive friendship in the room provided the encouragement needed to persevere through such an important experience.
For anyone seeking birth support, I can't recommend Tanner enough!
