Throughout my pregnancy, I often texted Shannon with questions about symptoms, supplements, and pain management. It only took her moments to respond and every response was thoughtful and informative. Super communicative and supportive! I also found the monthly parental empowerment sessions really helpful, and I always learned something new.
When the time came, she could tell simply by speaking with me over the phone that it was time for me to head to the hospital--even though I wasn't positive myself! Thank goodness she encouraged me to go, because my delivery went from zero to 60 in just a few hours!
There was some chaos in the delivery room because of how fast my daughter arrived, and I think the calmest person in the room was Shannon. She coached me through tough contractions, helped with counter pressure and other pain relieving techniques, and cheered me on the whole way. She worked wonderfully well with my husband, seamlessly involving him in the process. In the hour following birth, she helped with nursing, kept me hydrated, and helped me initially process what had happened.
Our postpartum visit was particularly sweet, as we got to talk further about the wild and crazy delivery experience in the comfort of my home with my other kiddos nearby; she also helped me with belly-binding (definitely recommend!) and with my infant carrier. I was sad to say goodbye to her--she is a one-in-a-million, and I am so thankful she was with me on my journey!
