We are so grateful Shamika was there for us on our birthing journey with our son Michael. She was very supportive and knowledgable the whole way, from prenatal visits and helping draft our birthing preferences, to the birth of our son and our postnatal visit. She was always available to talk in between and address our questions and concerns no matter how simple they were. Shamika met us straight at the hospital very shortly after my partner was induced (she had to have an emergency induction) and spent the night with us in the delivery room while she labored. Her support extended to me as the (anxious) birthing partner, including making sure I'm taking a breather and reminding me to eat so I could be 100% present for my partner. Having her by our side made my birthing experience as a partner a positive one, and I'd highly recommend her to others looking for a doula to guide and support both the birthing person and her partner.
