Tia was warm, knowledgeable and supportive throughout the pregnancy. She made my husband and I both feel at ease and communicated with both of us when we had questions. She has a great personality and sense of humor and made the whole thing normal! We felt in very good hands. One of the things that attracted me to her initially was that she met us where we were attitude wise - I was very interested in the biology aspects of pregnancy, less so in the holistic aspects, and she tailored the information she provided accordingly. She was supportive and responsive during my long labor, first being on call and checking in regularly when I had questions about how to interpret how it was progressing, then coming to my home when things were getting more regular, and then calling on her contacts at the hospital when it was getting close to time to go in to make sure we didn't get stuck in the waiting room. She made sure the Uber drove carefully when I was miserable with contractions which I so appreciated. In the hospital she supported us the entire time until after the birth and communicated with the staff on my behalf to make sure my preferences were heard when I couldn't really do it myself. For example, I had planned on the epidural but was already 8cm when we arrived at the hospital. Tia brought it up to several nurses to make sure the anesthesiologist came as soon as possible so I didn't miss the window for the epidural. There were many other similar instances of her taking care of me in ways I didn't even think to ask for. After the birth she checked in several times and came to my home and provided lactation support, which I really needed and appreciated. She helped me find positions that worked better for my baby which made it more doable when I was feeling low about breastfeeding in the beginning. Couldn't have asked for a better doula.
