When Michelle first became my doula I was a bit nervous and unsure of what to expect, but with our virtual meetings she slowly melted that away. The way she speaks is informal yet still professional, so she felt like a friend more than a distant stranger. She has a very soothing aura about her, is very relatable, and is obviously very experienced not only in her field but with all things woman and motherhood. Michelle was incredibly informative and great at helping me understand my options, giving me her personal takes but still backing and supporting whatever I wanted to do which also translated to the labor and delivery. When it came time for labor and delivery she was very present and came to my beck and call. She served as a protection for me and baby against pushy and uninformative staff, having this very strong willed and firm air about her. Throughout my entire labor and birth she informed me on medications and procedures they were trying to give me which helped me make confident decisions. She kept repeating "you don't have to do anything you don't want to do" which was so reassuring for me, and I think kept the staff in line about trying to sneakily give me things without informing me first or trying to scare me into taking it. When I was in pain during laboring and needed comfort and affection, she was there with open arms and remedies to soothe me. She gave me a towel with peppermint oil, dabbed it on my pillow, strapped a fan to my bed, gave me crystals to squeeze, helped me into different positions to help progress contractions, and held me tight when I needed comfort. Michelle felt like family and perfectly blended with my other support people. My family loved her and my mom talks about her all the time and how she's permanently changed the way my family gives birth. I'm extremely grateful for Michelle and it's clear that she loves what she does. 1000/10 recommend!
