We had the absolute pleasure and privilege of having Saphren attend the long labour and birth of our son in February this year.

We were very lucky to find Saphren in January when a different doula didn't pan out. Saphren was quick to fit us in her schedule and come for the prenatal visits (despite being at 37 weeks!). At the visits, Saphren was calm, knowledgeable, and made sure that both my partner and I were educated on the choices we were making and how they could look in the hospital setting. She was an excellent guide for ensuring that the choices I put into a birth plan were informed and that she and my partner were both aware of the thinking behind it in order to best support these decisions.

Saphren was an absolute life saver during the actual labour and delivery of our child. She was available to us through the full 60 hours. She came and guided us through early labour - giving us tools to set us up for success. Throughout labour, she came over and supported me through positions that would help move the baby as well as guiding myself and my partner through ways to cope with the contractions, sleepless nights, and increasing discomforts. Through the birth, Saphren was a calming guide who reminded me gently of my desires through delivery and helped reassure me that my body and I were capable. She was a very positive force to have in the delivery room, guiding me through positions that felt powerful and that were effective for pushing.

We also received photos from Saphren that were beautiful and captured several different moments from labour and delivery. It is such a treat to have these to look at as it's true that much of the experience is erased by the hormones!

We feel so lucky that we had Saphren as our doula. She was knowledgeable, kind, and calm. She guided us through challenges in a non-judgemental way while supporting the vision that I had for labour and delivery.
