My 3 year old toddler was critically sick with RSV and hospitalized in the pediatrics ICU. When I had arrived at the hospital to see my son before they intubated him, I was an emotional wreck and could only spend limited time with him as I had my 4 month old daughter with me as well. At that time, I needed help with looking after my 4 month old as I wanted to spend more time with my son at bedside. My mother connected me with Marcia, a long time and dear Catholic friend and doula. Her availability and kindness impacted me and she was willing to drop everything to help me through this difficult time. She was able to watch my daughter as I went to visit my son. She even brought me food so I could nourish myself. She really went above and beyond. I am ever so grateful for her help and company.
