i am so grateful to have had beth as our doula for the birth of our first child. she was a calm + comforting presence throughout my labor and worked seamlessly with our care team at the hospital.
her presence at the birth was exceptional, what one hopes for when choosing a doula; but it was her support through the journey of pregnancy + post-partum that truly went beyond what i could have imagined. beth + her doula partner, christine took the time to understand who we were. they helped me to name my preferences, calm my anxieties, assure me there was no such thing as TMI, recommend all the right books, and genuinely open up a space to process my experience in real time.
after preparing for an unmedicated birth, i found out at 34wks that would need to shift to high-risk care with an early induction, all new doctors + a new hospital. my birth plan was out the window, as new needs were in order. i truly don't know how i could have navigated the logistical or emotional whiplash of the experience without the grounding support of beth + christine. they walked me through each step so that i knew what to expect, made time for all of my concerns, and somehow, despite it all, helped me to trust my body. i had a long and complex delivery, but with beth by my side, i was able to have the vaginal birth i hoped for + a truly ecstatic experience. i felt powerful, prepared, cared for.
throughout post-partum, beth was there for everything from emotional support to coaching me on how to avoid engorgement. when i had surgery 12-weeks later, she offered to hand deliver donated breast milk for our daughter. her sweetness is unparalleled and paired with an incredible knowledge of pregnancy, birth and post-partum.
i could not recommend beth enough. if you have the pleasure of working with her, i am sure she will become your friend, as she has for us.
if we have another child, beth will surely be in the room. <3
