Our experience with Marcia, from pregnancy through postpartum, was truly amazing. Our daughter came fast and I had an accidental home birth VBAC! We hired Marcia to help me achieve a VBAC for my second child following a traumatic cesarean delivery of our first child. Marcia first helped make recommendations for body work and nutrition throughout pregnancy, and then worked closely with me on my mindset leading up to delivery. She encouraged me to trust both my body and God, and her deep faith was a source of inspiration.
I had a very precipitous delivery (less than an hour of active labor), and Marcia arrived at my house just a minute after my daughter was born in the bathroom. I'll never forget the huge smile she had on her face as she said "Happy Birthday baby!! Mary, you did it! See you knew your body wasn't broken." I was immediately so relieved to see her and her recognition of the awesome thing I had just accomplished was just what I needed to hear in that moment. I think her presence even calmed the paramedics down! She helped us advocate for our birth plan, even though our delivery location was not what we planned; we had delayed cord clamping and she advocated for my husband to be able to cut the cord.
Marcia's care post partum cannot be understated. She came with us to the hospital and stayed with me through the initially recovery phase, helping me get the bathroom, getting me blankets, and rejoicing in the labor story with us. In the weeks following delivery she checked in multiple times, encouraging me to rest and it was so nice to have someone check in on both my physical and mental/emotional health following delivery (something that you don't get from your OB postpartum). Her care was exactly what we needed!
