I had the privilege of meeting Aja at a pivotal time in my 4th pregnancy. I knew I would need a different type of intentional support and my family and I agreed working with a Doula was the right choice for us. A month before delivery I met with Aja, she was warm, friendly, direct, and knowledgeable and I felt comfortable right away! Aja assessed what my needs were which led us to engage in powerful breath work and exercises that would be foundational to the birthing experience I was hoping for this time around. I went from having a big breeched baby to a big baby in the ready position and I was determined to use all of the tools Aja gave me to prepare my mind and body for the laboring process that I desperately wanted. I desired to be unmedicated (if able) and have a positive birth experience, different from previous induced labors. Thanks to Aja I was well prepared. She checked on me, held me accountable to my exercises, helped me process through tough moments, and was all around the best cheerleader. This I know prepared me well in such a short amount of time.
My Induction day was postponed twice and a few hours after the final call, my contractions came on strong and fast. Aja was on-call and ready, dropping everything to be by my side. Aja advocated for me in the hospital room. She held to my birth plan when the nurses in the room were not as attentive. She coached my breathing and integrated my family for additional support when appropriate and possible. She was a calming presence in tough moments after the baby was born. I believe so much of this beautiful final birthing experience was because of the partnership, support, trust, and gained friendship with Aja!
In the postpartum phase, she has supported and cared for me in various ways as well. I wish I was so lucky for my previous birthing experiences. I highly recommend her services and praise her heart and passion for this special intimate work. You will be in the best hands!
