Shaina is an all encompassing, compassionate doula! It all started in Oct 2024, we reached Shaina via email. This was our 1st attempt at a VBAC/Doula experience. Her calming voice & ability to answer our questions that were backed by accredited sources & articles were key points. She taught us so much! From exercises to engage baby to 3 spinning baby techniques. "I'm a badass" & "I can do this" were our favorite birth affirmations. Fast forward to Dec 6th-7th 3pm -7am we went from 0-3cm on our own. Shaina's support & love for a full 24 hours on Dec 7th-8th fueled my body to push us from 3cm to 10cm. Shaina collaborated with nurses helped me change positions & helped me with practice pushing via side lying, tug of war & being on my back. Shaina respected & honored the way we desired to birth. Shaina welcomed me to lean on her & at times hug her to move & or be mobile as much as I could. She collaborated & communicated very well with the medical staff at the local SD hospital that even one of the nurses requested her contact info to refer her to other patients. I truly thought Shaina knew the nurse before & were friends because they meshed so well! Shaina encouraged being vocal in birth & placed all confidence in me even when I doubted myself. This was a big moment for me when she kept saying "Connie You CAN do this,You are doing it! Look you're at 9.5cm!" The positive encouragement & support is what I truly needed. Yes, physical doula support is crucial but labor is truly mental work. Shaina changed my mindset & impacted our birth outcome tenfold. Our baby girl Harmonie was born via our 1st ever VBAC on 12.08.24 (my birthday twin) at 2331. Shaina made all the difference! She helped our stars align!
