I hired Leanne as my doula around 17 weeks, and from then until birth, she was nothing short of amazing. She was so good at providing us resources and helping us formulate our dream birth plan. Leanne’s gentle yet fierce approach to birth is empowering and truly helped me to know that my dream birth was possible. Leanne is intentional with her support for both parents, and she included my husband in the birthing process by showing him how to help me and be there for me. Leanne was a rockstar from the beginning of my labour to the end. She gave helpful advice over the phone to my husband when I was unable to communicate, and jumped in with immediate pain relief and rest options when she arrived at our house. She respected our decision for a hospital birth and was so good at communicating with our midwife when we were in the thick of labour and it didn’t even cross our minds about when we should leave for the hospital. Leanne was patient with the ups and downs of births and labour, always ensured I was hydrated and fed, and was knowledgeable about different positions to try to help baby move, help with pain, etc. Lastly, when things went awry and the decision was made to go to the OR for a stat CS, Leanne waited in recovery (doulas need to be allowed in the OR!) until we were out, just so she could congratulate us and meet the baby she helped us welcome into the world. To top it all off, she helped make sure I got my golden hour skin-to-skin with my baby and helped baby latch on to the breast right away in the recovery room, when I was too numb to move my arms after surgery. Since the birth, Leanne has been happy to provide resources for natural care for baby, resources on vaccines, medicine, postpartum care, etc., showing that her care extends well into postpartum and not just until baby comes.
Leanne is an INCREDIBLE doula. I’m so excited to have her on my birth team again the second time around, someday! Thank you, Leanne. ??
