Laura was my doula for our first child. I had a normal pregnancy until the very end where I developed symptoms of pre-eclampsia. My doctor recommended I be induced. I fully trusted my doctober but as a first time mom was nervous & had alot of questions. The unknown of my first birth experience was hard to take in along with this added complication. My husband & I were very thankful to have Laura by our side. She met us at the hospital, was there to listen & ask questions when my doctor came by. I can still picture her there rubbing my swollen feet with essential oils as we listened to my doctor talk. We were able to see the full picture with Laura's guidance & get a plan in place that we felt comfortable with & that my doctor supported. I'm so glad we had that!
I struggled with breastfeeding & having a milk supply. Laura came by to see me just days after our daughter was born & jumped in when she saw the signs that our daughter wasn't getting enough nutrition. Again, as a first time mom Laura never made me feel like I had failed. She checked on me with texts & phone calls long after.
Our second child was born minutes after getting to the hospital & our third child was born during covid. Sadly I wasn't able to have anyone but my husband beside me.
Laura was my doula for our fourth & last child. With it being our last baby, it was special to have a full circle birth experience with her alongside us. Once again she was there & stepped in when my husband or I wasn't sure. She knew to pray for me & encourage me in the hard moments of labor. She always gave suggestions at the right time & respected the birth space. I always felt supported by her.
Laura is someone I value & am so thankful for. Laura has wisdom for the days of pregnancy, the birth time & post partum days. If you are able to have her as your doula ever, consider yourself blessed! I do!
