Deep Kaur as my doula was a highlight of my labour experience. She was a true birth partner, and one I would reccomed to anyone I know that is looking for a doula.

I had an extremely long labour of almost 48 hours, where over 24 hours were spent in the hospital (in the waiting room, in triage, then finally in the delivery room). Deep Kaur was beside me for that entire duration. She never made me feel like what I was asking for or what I was saying didn't make sense, but instead stood by me providing support however she could. The entire time I was in labour, she was amazing at gently nuding me to switch positions and go for walks, and worked with me even when I felt like I didn't want to do anything that was being suggested. She was gentle but persistant - exactly what I needed.

Deep Kaur was also an amazing advocate. She made sure all the nurses that were on my case, all of the midwives, and all of the OBs (as there were many due to the number of hours spent at the hospital) knew my birth plan and understood what I wanted. I never once had to communicate my plan myself to any of the staff, because I knew she would do it for me. She would also check in if ever I stated something that wasn't aligned with what I had stated in my brith plan, to make sure I wasn't changing my mind under duress but because I genuinely wanted to. I felt supporeted and advoated for, under her watch.

My partner also really apprecaited her presence. As this was our first baby, neither of us had any real experience with the process. She was very good at helping him understand how to best support me, which he and I both were very grateful for. She knew exactly when to provide comfort and when to take a step back, to give me and my partner a little space.

Overall, I feel very lucky to have been able to have Deep Kaur as my doula, and hope that everyone looking for a birth partner has a similarly wonderful experiece.
