On the day, the labor itself unfolded quickly. My attending midwife only arrive 20 minutes before, so Julia, my partner, and I did it almost completely by ourselves, a feat only possible because of her guidance.
Simply put - Julia is wise and intuitive. She offers the perfect mixture of reverence and levity. When I couldn’t walk, she held me up. When I needed it, but did not know it myself, she changed my position to move the baby down. And when I was exhausted, she reminded me of my strength.
