From our first call with Clara, my husband and I knew she was the perfect fit as our doula. This was our first pregnancy and Clara helped me to feel calm, confident, and empowered to know what is best for myself and my baby during this transformative journey into motherhood.
Part way through my second trimester, we faced some unexpected hurdles with genetic testing and had to endure a several week wait for results. Clara was a shoulder to lean on during a time of great uncertainty. We are forever grateful for her support as we navigated the highs and lows of pregnancy.
Each birth is unique and although not everything went exactly as we envisioned, Clara was instrumental in helping me have a beautiful experience as we welcomed our son into the world. I ended up having a very last-minute induction that led to about 28 hours of labor. Clara was there throughout the entire process, helping us make decisions, working with my care team to respect my birth preferences (unless medically necessary), and above all, adding a calmness to the room. She created a zen atmosphere in our hospital room, complete with twinkling lights, flowers, and our favorite music.
She was also there for our family as I navigated a scary postpartum preeclampsia diagnosis and resulting mental health challenges. Knowing Clara was a text or phone call away during this time was incredibly comforting.
A million thank-yous for your support, Clara! We're so lucky to have worked with her, and to now call her a friend. We will absolutely give her a call when we decide to expand our family in the future.
