Larah was great -- she was our postpartum night doula for the first few months of our son's life. Her main duties were caring for our son (from about 1 week old to almost 2 months old) a couple times a week during the night hours. The usual schedule was 10pm to 7am. She fed him, changed him, put him to sleep, soothed him and anything else needed to keep a newborn baby happy.
The first thing I noticed about Larah was how responsive she was. She communicated promptly and clearly, and as a new parent, I really appreciated that. I also appreciated her level of flexibility; she was often able to stay late, change care dates, and help with additional household needs like washing baby bottles.
You can also tell that she LOVES babies. I felt confident leaving her with my son, feeling assured that he was in experienced and loving hands. Every time she came to our house (after not seeing him for a week), she marveled at how he had changed in the last week. It felt like she truly wanted to be there and help us, and care for him (and for us, the parents!) This was invaluable. As a postpartum mom, it is helpful to feel nurturing energy around you, particularly if you are experiencing hardships on your journey.
I would highly recommend Larah, and hope to work with her more in the future in the case of sleep regressions and other challenges that may come our way.
