This was my first pregnancy, and by my 36th week, I was desperately searching for a doula. When I came across this website, I read through the testimonials, and a few stories deeply resonated with my own wishes. That’s when I decided to reach out to Emily. After speaking with her over the phone, I felt confident in her ability to support me on my birthing journey, and I trusted her completely.
During her in-person visit before my delivery, I bonded with her instantly. She listened to my concerns and fears, and I shared my wish to labor at home as long as possible before heading to the hospital. That’s exactly what she helped me do. She also taught my husband some massage techniques, which later became invaluable in helping me manage early labor.
On the big day, I first felt minor cramps around 4:30 AM. As my labor progressed, I reached out to Emily, and she encouraged me to eat and drink plenty to conserve energy for active labor and the pushing phase. By 6 PM, my contractions intensified, and she arrived at my home by 7 PM. I labored in the bathtub, and her soothing massages and guided breathing made the pain much more manageable.
At 9 PM, we headed to the hospital, where I was told I was fully dilated. Shortly after arriving, my water broke, and I began pushing. Emily was by my side, coaching me through every moment, and after just 40 minutes of pushing, I was holding my baby in my arms at 10:34 PM.
Emily’s unwavering support, encouragement, and expertise made all the difference in my birth experience. I’m beyond grateful for her presence throughout my journey, and I cannot recommend her enough!
