Preparing for birth during a world crisis has it’s challenges including limiting your in-person support per restrictive hospital policies. I believe that the informational and emotional support a doula offers, even virtually, will provide you many of the same benefits proven by well-designed studies. some of these include: decreased length of labor, increased birth satisfaction, lower use of obstetrics interventions, higher APGAR scores etc. I personally feel that the professional labor support given to you before, during, and after your birth with help guard you from some of the devastating effects of postpartum mood disorders. This is important even more so now in this stressful time. Please contact me to find out more about having a supported birth!

Alexis is an angel. I decided to find a Doula at 37 weeks as my husband and I were new in town and didn't have any friends or family around. I also felt, as we are from overseas, we needed somebody to help us navigate an entirely new medical system. I found Alexis on doulmatch and after reading her glowing reviews, I reached out to her and she got back to me straight away. Alexis comes with the sunniest disposition and an absolute wealth of knowledge! I had a fairly clear idea of the type of labour and delivery I wanted, and Alexis' approach was to support that whilst also helping me understand the parameters around what I wanted and also around what I didn't want - she helped me prepare for (the often unavoidable) Plans B, C and D. She supported me in my journey with zero judgment and helped arm me with the knowledge and confidence that no matter what happened, we got this! While I feel like all our pre-natal visits were incredibly educational and helpful, Alexis is worth her weight in gold when it comes to labour, delivery and post-partum. Alexis was by our side from the moment we decided we needed her there with us - she came armed with all the exericses we had practiced, a TENS machine that she had purchased ahead of my due date, heat pack, additional exercises and even more positivity than before. We worked through my labor at home as long as we could and when it was time for the hospital she gently laid out our options so that we could make the decision of whether to continue at home or go to the hospital. Labour and delivery at the hospital was long and not straight-forward or how exactly how I imagined it would play out. Alexis helped me and my husband every step of the way - holding my hand through navigating & understanding options laid out in front of me. I was so happy and grateful to have her there when 30+ hours later our beautiful boy finally made his way out into the world. There's no way I could have done it without her.

Words cannot express how amazing and talented Alexis is at being a doula! She met with us 3 times leading up to the birth of our son and spent at least 2 hours with us each time. On the day of the birth she swooped into the birthing room within 30 minutes of our call letting her know I went into labor. I had a very intense labor (no epidural for majority of it) and she let me lean on her (literally my entire body weight) for hours on end. She never once broke eye contact with me as she coached me through contractions over a 10 hour period!! She was comforting, kind, gentle, and so knowledgable. My birthing experience was one I will look back on fondly all because of her. I couldn't have done it without her support. Anyone that hires Alexis is in the best hands.

Alexis was an amazing doula! My goal was to have an unmedicated VBAC in the hospital and I knew from our first phone conversation that she was perfect for me. She is so kind and outgoing and made me feel very comfortable sharing my two very different birth experiences. Right away she made me feel confident in my ability to have the natural birth with my daughter that I dreamed of. She helped me to craft the perfect birth plan by helping me to think about why I wanted what I did and how to convey it in a concise and polite manor. Her friendship was invaluable to me as my labor kicked in early and lasted for a week before my daughter actually came which threw me off a bit but she was always reassuring and reliable with her communication so I never felt lost or discouraged. In the end the actual birth went perfectly and her presence in the delivery room was exactly what I had envisioned! She knew exactly what to do and when, she took care of so many things that I wouldn't have even thought of. When my contractions slowed down she did some work with a rebozo and right after that my water broke and everything kicked in to high gear! I honestly don't think I could have done it without her, it was an amazing experience and I'm so glad she was there with me.

I cannot say enough about Alexis! I can't imagine the journey without her. Alexis helped us greatly through each stage of the birth experience. During my pregnancy I wasn't sure what I wanted for my birth, but through the prenatal visits she really helped my husband and I nail down what we wanted, any fears we had, what we could expect, etc. She was able to answer every question I had and if she wasn't sure, she made it a point to get back to me. There were certain things I felt anxious about, but she listened so well and helped me to visualize my concerns and what I could do in those situations. Though we planned for an unmedicated vaginal birth, things changed in the last week of my pregnancy when my doctor did an ultrasound and said I needed to consider a Cesarean birth due to the baby's large size. After a lot of consideration, we decided to have the C-Section and it was scheduled for later that week. Alexis was there every step of the way. Post-Delivery was the hardest part of all and depression began to quickly settle in, though I wasn't quite aware of what it was at the time. Alexis was able to talk to both me and my husband and encouraged us to get the help that I needed. Alexis continued to check up on me and was able to provide advice on things I could do on my own to ease my suffering. Through all the many times I have texted, called, and relied on her, I have never once felt like a burden and that is saying a lot. If you want a doula who only has your best interest in mind, choose Alexis:)

Alexis is a wonderful doula! She is very knowledgeable and understanding which really helped my husband and I feel confident about our decisions throughout the pregnancy and delivery. We decided to hire a doula because we wanted to have a natural childbirth and we wanted more support as our families all live out of state. It was a great decision and we will defintally do it again. Alexis helped us when my labor did not go as planned and I was in labor for over 30 hours. When I didn't think I could continue with having a natural birth she kept me calm and used a variety of techniques to reduce my anxiety and discomfort. In the end I was able to delivery our healthy and beautiful son with no epidural. We couldn't have done it without her support! Alexis supported all of our decisions and beliefs and did not pressure me to make certain decisions but did make sure I had the information that is available. My husband and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

Alexis was absolutely a wonderful doula and friend. My labor was long and difficult but I feel absolutely confident in every decision I made through the process and have no regrets because Alexis was there to support me and my goals. Because of her knowledge of positioning and pushing technique I was able to avoid a c-section and for this I am so incredibly grateful for her expertise! She was so pleasant, confident, and friendly that none of my nurses or doctors had any problems working with her. She made my husband feel much more at ease and prevented both of us from panicking. She has got to be one of the most patient people I have ever met! Because of Alexis I had a great birth experience and I will always treasure the memories of the day my baby was born because I know I had the best birth experience I could possibly have had. I absolutely reccomend her and hope I never have to go through a labor without her!

My expirence with Alexis Childs was great! She was really helpful. She came to my home and prepared me for labor by telling me and showing me what I should be expecting. She gave me breathing technics and positions I can do to help with the pain. Anytime I had a question or needed help she was always available and it was easy to get in contact with her. During my labor she was postive and encoraged me and supported me. She helped me with pain. And she made me feel like I was doing good and that really helped. Alexis is a great doula who helped me a lot and made my labor and birth easier

Alexis was an AMAZING doula! She is very knowledgeable about many different ways to help control pain and comfort you. I had multiple scary complications at the end of my delivery and I don't know if I would of made it through without her. She was very supportive and let me know what was going on and what the doctor was doing. Once I delivered my baby she needed medical intervention immediately so my husband went with the baby, I was so grateful to have Alexis by my side. I was worried about my baby and still had to deliver my placenta and I was in a lot of pain. Alexis helped me through all of it I can't imagine if I had to do that last part without her there supporting me. I was not sure I needed a Doula when we decided to have a natural childbirth but we decided to have Alexis help us and it was the best choice I could have made. I think you would have a hard time finding a more caring, knowledgeable and supportive doula! Thanks Alexis we will be forever grateful for your help.
