After attending to our childbirth classes, we came with the conclusion that we liked the idea of hiring a doula.

Our teacher recommended us to reach out to a couple of names and people, and amongst those was Tapestry. We quickly connect with them and set up a phone appointment and from our call it was a no brainer, so we signed up with Tapestry. We quickly schedule our home appointment.

From the first time we meet Kim, we were completely in love with her. Kim is a person who transpire calmness, from her mannerism to her voice. Her recommendations prior to our due date and delivery date were extremely helpful to ease some of the discomfort during the last week of pregnancy.

You know you are in good hands when you talk to Kim, by discovering a person with such a warm heart, powerful positive attitude and specially her dedicated work to the community.

During the delivery day, the contractions started and we get in in touch with Kim to let her know about the situation, we did as recommended in our class and we stayed at home during the early stage of labor, and right when we felt the contractions were closer apart she came over to our home and started working on breathing exercise, setting an environment peaceful and quiet to ease the first few hours of pre labor in order to dilate enough to go to the hospital.

Kim was with us all the way in the process. Her ability to calm and influence your mood allowed her to create an space perfect for the birth of our child, from music, light intensity and aromatic scents.

After our son’s birth we were still in touch with Kim. Two weeks later she visited us to see how we were doing, also we got six weeks of regular phone check ups with her, which were very helpful.

We are so grateful and blessed of having Kim on a very important time for us. Her words of wisdom still resonate in our hearts.

Thank you so much

With Kim as our doula, we welcomed our first child in June 2016. We had a calm, joyful, empowered birth experience in large part because of Kim's extraordinary commitment to being the most nurturing, positive, patient doula and because of her amazing ability to bring out the best in her clients during the most challenging experience of our lives. Kim was the best prenatal guide, offering us so much info! Kim visited us 3 times to discuss our birth and share many great tips for pain management. Kim's doula partner, Lisa Avecedo of Tapestry Birth Collective, was also wonderfully informative during one of our pre-birth meetings, and together they provided great post-partum doula care when we needed it most. During each of our meetings, Kim connected with both of us and built a lot of trust through her easy, fun communication style and good humor. She helped us feel knowledgeable, empowered, and comfortable to make the birth decisions that we wanted. Our baby was 12 days post-due, and Kim was extremely supportive, patient, thoughtful during those final days. She offered great suggestions for naturally jumpstarting labor. When our long labor finally did start, Kim was available throughout. Kim was first with us in our home and then at the hospital for at least 17 hours straight. Kim was calm, focused, positive, nurturing, encouraging, resourceful. She helped us stay relaxed, optimistic, and united in our efforts, and made us feel very safe and supported while we interacted with our midwives and hospital staff. Arjun wants to add that hiring Kim was one of the best investments we made during our pregnancy. A doula is uniquely capable of helping a first-time dad support his wife through childbirth. Kim was also a wonderful source of information and support during our postpartum period. We both highly recommend Kim as an outstanding doula! We appreciate everything that Kim offered us. Thank you, Kim! And good luck to you and all your future clients!

I'm so honored to provide my testimonial and strong recommendation for Kim's doula and postpartum care. I initially liked her online profile - her experience as a yoga teacher, her participation in La Leche League, and her work with women in prison resonated with me. From the first meeting, my husband and I felt like she was already a good friend of ours. Kim is authentic, warm, caring, and is an incredible listener. She truly wants to help families have the birth experience that is right for them, with zero judgment or pushiness. My labor ended up being extremely quick, but I still feel so incredibly grateful that I had Kim by my side, keeping me (and my husband!!) calm and focused. She helped me feel confident that I could have the intervention-free birth I wanted every step of the way, and was the person I turned to during delivery when I had a question or needed some additional support when things got tough. I had such trust in her decision-making and to advocate for me and my baby all along. She helped me express colostrum and feed my baby right after birth, and helped us initiate breastfeeding. After she left the hospital (I didn't want her to go even though we were in a great place!), the nurses told us that she was one of the best doulas they've ever worked with. I would say that's a pretty good endorsement! Kim was also wonderful for the two overnights we had her come postpartum. She'll help you with whatever you need, whether it is making a list of baby clothes/items you might still need, addressing thank you notes for your shower, unloading your dishwasher, or just sitting next to you while you tearfully and joyfully reminisce about the life-changing experience you just had and the baby you just welcomed into the world. Thank you, Kim! XO, Kate, Rob & Brynn

I had the pleasure of working with Kim and Lisa at Tapestry Birth. I met with both oh them and can say they are both incredibly knowledgeable and caring. I had interviewed many doulas prior to calling on TBC, and while I liked a lot of them as people, I wasnt sure they were going to bring much to the table. After meeting with Lisa and Kim I knew they would be able to help me carry out my birthing plan.

It was Kim who ended up attending the birth of my daughter. I really mean it when I say I don't think I could have it done it without her. I relied so heavily on her. She helped me with my breathing, helped me with pain management, she helped me maneuver the hospital setting and all the people in the room. She gave me encouragement and love and I felt incredible safe with her.

When it was all said and done, I couldnt believe that I hadnt know Kim for a majortity of my life. She felt like a life long friend.

Both her and Lisa remained available to me and checked in on me post birth. It made me feel confident and like I had a good network of women I could rely on.

I highly highly recommend them!!

Kim was my doula for the birth of our first child and I am so glad we worked with her for the most most incredible experience of our life. She has a very warm personality and makes everyone feel very comfortable around her. I was very nervous that I will go past due date and I will be induced, but Kim was very supportive throughout and directed me to resources to help with the natural process to avoid induction. She showed me many exercises on birthing ball and how my husband could comfort me. I ended up going in labor a day before my due date and Kim texted me all day during initial phase of labor to check on me and guided me on different techniques that would help with initial contractions. When we decided to go to the hospital she was there waiting for us and reassuing that my body is working through the process. This reassurance was super helpful because you tend to forget that it is a natural process. At the hospital, she instantly made the l&d room feel like a warm cozy place with candles, oils, snacks, etc. She also reminded us to ask the right questions and take our own time to make any decisions. I ended up having a long labor and both my husband and I were exhausted. She was by my side the entire time working through different positions, making sure i was hydrated and still exuding positive energy. I know that I would not have gone through the incredibly long labor without  pain medication if I didn't have her support. We highly recommend her to anyone who would like to have a memorable birth experience. If we decided to have another kid, we will definitely work with Kim again but this time hopefully for a shorter labor ;)

I cannot say enough good things about Kim.  She was fantastic.  She was incredibly supportive in helping me with the birth I wanted, whatever it may be.  I ended up needing an induction, and I was pretty upset about it.  But she helped to make it a wonderful experience.  She brought candles, snacks, music, oils.  Helped with positioning and massaging to get through the contractions.  She helped me with what questions to ask about the process in order to make more informed decisions, and was really positive and encouraging.  She exudes a warm and calming energy and that is really important when trying to get through labor.  She was also really great during the post- partum and prenatal visits, making sure to help us in whatever we needed. She was very easy to communicate with and always quick to respond.  I would recommend Kim many times over.  She definitely helped us have a fantastic birth.

Kim was my doula with my third baby and my only regret was that I didn't find her sooner for my first two.  Having Kim in the room was not only having a strong, supportive advocate but also an amazingly calming presence. Going into my third birth I knew I wanted a doula but for me and my husband, who had done it without a doula in the past, it had to be the right person.  in my prenatal yoga classes with Kim, I had an immediate connection and knew she was the one! In our meetings I expressed to Kim what I wanted from my doula experience as well as my birth plan.  When the time came, Kim absolutely exceeded those expectations and supported my birth plan fully. Athough I had some late complications, Kim helped me and advocated for my ability to stick to my birth plan.  At the end, I had a beautiful, natural and intervention-free birth and I absolutely know that Kim was a huge part of that.

Words can't express how fortunate we feel to have Kim in our lives. She is more than our doula -- she is an invaluable resource, a confidant, and a lifelong friend.

My husband and I spent lot of time on the "doula decision" -- would we feel comfortable introducing someone new into the dynamic of our relationship, during such a personal and intimate time? Could we even afford to do so? All of our concerns dissipated the moment we met Kim. This woman was made to help bring babies into the world, and to empower new parents in the process. We realized immediately that working with Kim was one of the best investments we could make in our growing family.. and I can now say, without hesitation, that it absolutely was.

There are a lot of unknowns surrounding pregnancy, labor and parenthood -- and Kim has been a true constant. Prenatally, Kim's yoga practice helped me grow in mind and body to prepare for labor. During labor, Kim's extraordinary patience, reassuring presence, and childbirth-centered expertise helped me give birth naturally to a beautiful baby boy (in a NYC hospital where unmedicated labor is anything but the norm). Postnatally, Kim helped to ensure that I was able to nurse that beautiful baby boy, and has been available for all breastfeeding related questions. Above all, Kim has been a constant source of support and encouragement, and my husband and I are more confident in our new roles as parents because of her.

Kim is a breath of fresh air, and we would recommend her enthusiastically and unreservedly to anyone who is embarking on the journey to parenthood.

We feel so fortunate to have had Kim with us through this very special journey. Through every moment leading up to the birth, during and after the birth she showed such care, love and support. Her calm presence and compassionate listening guided us through a birth experience that was beyond beautiful and powerful. We can't thank you enough, Kim. You will always have a special place in our hearts.
