Kristina was my doula for both the birth of my middle son and the birth of my daughter 7 years later. I also attended her class for a refresher when I was due with me daughter. She is, kind, attentive, knowledgeable, committed, and fun! She has a god relationship with local hospital staff and midwives. She is very empathetic and anticipated my every need. She is an amazing advocate for mothers rights in and out of birthing experience. I highly recommend her services! If I were ever to have another child I would hire her in a heartbeat ??.

Kristina was exactly what I was looking for in a doula to assist me with the VBAC birth of my second child. I had some trauma left over from my first birth and thus had a lot of fear going into the second. Kristina was excellent in addressing these fears head on and talking me through every possible outcome. Likewise she was able to talk to my husband about the fears he carried with him from the first birth and really helped prepare him for the VBAC. Once I saw how comfortable he became after just one meeting with her, I knew we had made the correct decision in hiring her.

I was looking for a "mama" personality to be at the birth with me. I knew I needed someone who could be tender when I was feeling vulnerable and strong when I needed to be talked off the ledge. In addition, I needed an advocate for me while birthing in a hospital who would have my best interests at heart, could better explain anything a doctor or nurse might not take the time to and who could help not let things feel too out of control. Kristina was all of these things and more!

She is a fabulous doula who knows what she's doing and truly loves what she is doing. She helped me prepare for my journey in ways I never thought about before. She was a tremendous help during labour, she checked in on me multiple times in the weeks that followed the birth and she is a wealth of knowledge and resourses when it comes to lactation specialists, massage therapists, physical therapists, etc. She talks to you in such a kind and loving way that you feel like you not only have a doula with you, but also a therapist, confidant and friend. In fact, even though my son is here now and I dont get to work closely with her anymore, I still feel like I've made a friend for life.

My husband and I knew Kristina was the doula for us within moments of meeting her. Kristina is warm, friendly, and put us easily at ease. Her knowledge and expertise are quickly apparent. One of my favorite things about Kristina was,how she immediately included my partner and kept him engaged. Throughout our childbirth education classes and our birth, she helped guide him on how best to support me and made sure that he was the active, helpful partner that he wished to be. I loved Kristina's childbirth classes. I learned a lot and felt well prepared to cope during labor and birth. Kristina was easily available throughout my pregnancy to answer any questions I had. Throughout my labor and birth, Kristina guided my husband and I through relaxation and coping techniques. She was an invaluable part of my birth team. Kristina made me feel comfortable during a very vulnerable time. Also, if you enjoy humor, and use it to help cope, Kristina is the doula for you!

Kristina was a supportive and caring doula.  She helped me work through my previous traumatic birth experience during our prenatal visits.  She came when I needed a version the week before I was due.  She showed up when I needed her in labor and did her work beautifully.  She helped keep me calm through a fast an painful labor.  I'm so thankful I worked with her.

I was a nervous first time mother to be and Kristina gave me the confidence to go through childbirth with knowledge and without fear. She was just the strong supportive voice I needed. Because of Kristina, my husband was able to rest and I went through 48 hours of labor, never once feeling abandoned or like I didn't have what I needed. I would absolutely recommend her, and should anymore children be in my future, I hope Kristina will be there again for their birth.

Kristina Kruzan is such a wonderful doula!  I am so happy that I decided to have her attend my birth, I truly don't think I would have had the same outcome if it wasn't for her.  She met with me as many times as I needed prior to the birth, and answered all my endless questions.  She was there every minute of the way during my labor and helped keep my head clear and my goals in sight.  She was a great support for my husband as well.  She is extremely comfortable to be around passes no judgement, just wants to help you reach whatever your personal goals are.  She will always be a part of my birth story and I am so happy to say that!

Kristina was a guiding light and grace in my pregnancy and labor. I cannot say just how incredibly grateful I am for this spirited angel who accompanied my husband and I in one of the most meaningful times in our lives.

When Kristina and I met I was in a very difficult pregnancy riddled with hyperemesis (continual intense vomiting). I was lacking support from family and friends having recently moved to the area and was struggling with grieving my mom, especially in the context of my pregnancy, who had passed away a little over four years prior. I knew my desires for labor and also was seeking a companion to accompany me and help me realize my hopes for welcoming my daughter. I couldn't have found a more kindred spirit than Kristina!

Kristina visited me before I delivered and conversations with her helped me to be honest about feelings that were mental stumbling blocks that could inhibit labor. Through our conversations we developed a beautiful and honest companionship that gave me the strength to face whatever would come my way in childbirth.

I was grateful for Kristina’s steady advocacy through my pregnancy and labor. She advocated for my husband and my desires and needs along the way, she stayed with me and helped me to breathe each breath, she had perfect intuition and awareness of what my body was going through and it gave me incredible comfort in continuing to move forward in labor. I simply cannot say enough about Kristina's expertise. I am a nurse and Kristina blew me away with her knowledge and experience. But beyond her knowledge, Kristina is healer. She has the sensitivity, awareness, presence and grace filled spirit that it takes to transform a job into a vocation. I was so grateful she accompanied my husband and I as our sweet daughter was born!

Kristina was incredible. During a very rough and totally unpredictable labour, she was constant, steady and kind. She stayed by our side as long as we needed her, and provided a much needed calm presence. Highly recommended.

It's been 3 1/2 months since the birth of my daughter and it's taken me this long to write a testimonial for Kristina because... I'm afraid I won't do it justice. But it's time to just do it.

My husband and I contacted Kristina and her Taproot business partner Laura early on because I knew I wanted and NEEDED a doula. By the time we had contacted them, I'd convinced my husband to at least meet with some doulas as he wasn't sure they were "worth it." After meeting with a few doulas prior, once we were done with the Taproot ladies, he was ready to book them. Kristina is the person he connected with the most and her "hey, whatever you want, we can do it together" attitude helped convince him immediately to hire them (so did her suggestion of toasting the birth with shots of licquor, which he loved and did!). He was especially impressed by how they emphasized that a doula was there not only for the laboring wife, but also for the husband and that they would help him help me.

I'm so grateful for Kristina. She was always available to answer questions via email or phone throughout the pregnancy and I appreciated the fact that I wasn't limited to just one prenatal visit... they were willing to meet with me however many times I needed (I only met with them twice, but it was calming to know I could if I needed). Kristina even met with me after birth to make sure all was ok and help with breastfeeding.

Kristina was with me for all but the last three hours of my labor in the hospital (48 hours of labor and 21 of that in the hospital). Her calming demeanor was just what I needed, and her gentle, but firm encouragement was what my husband needed to help me throughout labor. She's continued to be a breastfeeding resource even months after my daughter was born.

I cannot recommend Kristina enough. If I am lucky to get pregnant again, I'll be calling her and her partner immediately. I couldn't have done it without them.

Kristina was an absolute asset to my pregnancy, delivery, and recovery process. I, unfortunately, had a terrible experience with my OB at 37 weeks and Kristina not only encouraged me to drop that doctor, but also kept me from feeling like the world was going to end. Her wisdom and support in those “the sky is falling” moments cemented her place in my circle. When I did go into labor, she was the perfect asset at our house and in the hospital room. In the recovery afterwards, my husband and I both commented on how comfortable she made the sterile hospital room feel – we didn’t have to worry about anything except welcoming our son. Finally, I had the most intense back labor due to a posterior baby and she was right there, with my husband, massaging and providing intense counter pressure on my back for hours. She has magic hands. Despite my exhaustion and the pain, she helped me achieve the birth I wanted. I absolutely recommend Kristina as a doula – she is a fantastic human being and an amazing support person.

My husband and I are so happy we found Kristina and Laura to be our doulas. I had a very complicated and traumatic birth with our first child and was quite honestly terrified to have another baby. Even thigh I was having another c-section Kristina and Laura provided me with so much support, information and resources to allow us to have the best experience possible. Because of their expertise my husband felt supported and more comfortable with my c-section. I was able to get skin to skin right away and I know if it wasnt for their help I wouldn't have pushed so hard for it.  Even though a c-section wansnt my ideal birth experience it coukdnt have gone any better!

Our situation was very unique and even though I knew hiring doulas would help our family, I had no idea how invaulabe they would really be.

A little less than a month ago I had the freeing, loving experience of having my 2nd baby. I had the extreme pleasure & blessing of having Kristina & Laura as my doulas. Nine months ago I left my abuser. I had been in a domestic violent relationship for a little over a year. During that year we conceived 3 times, we lost our 1st child & then conceived 17 days later. During the pregnancy I delt with beatings, rape, belittlement, control, isolation & threats of all kinds. After his birth, I left my abuser, found safety & a network of support that thankfully was still there for me. I had been in extreme pain after my 1st baby I thought it was normal. I went to my OB found out the pain I was having was that I was pregnant yet again. After going through some major soul searching about how to keep this child, another OB appoit. i heard my soon to be daughters heartbeat. There was no question she was meant to be mine. Now, with all my mental, emotional & physical damage how was I going to get through this pregnancy & birth? Well, this amazing friend was doing a project about empowering women. Which is where I met Krisitina, she was placed into my life like she was placed with many others to help women birth babies & feel amazing, safe and loved doing so. Kristina & Laura met with me whenever I needed them. They educated me in giving birth because, even though I had just had a baby I was still so ignorant and uneducated about so much due to not being allowed to reach out & get the very needed support a woman needs when having a baby. After only a few months of preparation for baby girl she came faster 1 Tue morning. Krisitina and Laura were there at the crack of dawn coaching, comforting and just being the amazing support system that I needed so desperately. I was safe, loved, empowered and was able to give birth to my healthy baby girl. There will never be enough words to explain my gratitude for these women.

Kristina was my doula when I gave birth to my daughter eight years ago and just recently as I gave birth as a surrogate. She was an invaluable resource for me, helping to protect my space and help me stay focused. As always, she was a wealth of information and a sound support. Kristina was a wonderful resource for the intended parents, as well, which allowed me to focus on the birth.

Kristina was inspirational, calming, encouraging, peaceful... She was the perfect person to be with me at the birth of my first child. Kristina's support was most critical during prenatal care. With an impending deployment for my husband and a breech baby, I had to make a lot of decisions in a short time. I felt "stuck" and she helped me out of that dreadful place where I felt out of control. She walked me through my birth plan with and without my husband there. She helped me do everything I could to get my baby to turn head down. And she guided me as I made a "back up" c-section birth plan. In the end, my husband WAS able to be with me! And... I had a c-section birth to meet my precious baby. Even with a c-section, I still chose to have Kristina with me in the hours before my son's birth and the hours after. After all, she had held my hand up to this point and I wanted her there for the rest. She was a tremendous support through the whole thing! Looking back on my BIRTH EXPERIENCE that included a c-section, her absolute understanding and support allowed me to truly experience it as exactly that - a birth experience, not a surgery. Her guidance in how to prepare allowed us to bond deeply and enjoy completely our newborn baby. My son NEVER left my side after his birth! So wonderful! It was all so precious and I am grateful to Kristina for what she did for my family during that time!

Let me start off by saying that I believe Kristina was born to help bring children into this world! I was impressed from the moment I met Kristina for so many reasons. Her vast knowledge about pregnancy and birth was just astounding and incredibly helpful in making me feel prepared and calm as a first time mother. I went through a very unusual and difficult labor comfortably all due to her mentally preparing me for the glorious event. Her loving demeanor and genuine joy for bringing a child into the world took away any fears I originally had in the beginning. In the hospital, she knew all of the right questions to ask the nurses and doctors and would relay the messages to me in a way where my husband and I could understand and not feel pressured to make any hasty decisions uneducated. I knew how blessed I was so have Kristina as my doula when multiple nurses commented on how grateful they were to have a doula present who actually knew what she was doing, was respectful to hospital staff and who took their job seriously and from the heart. From my husband’s perspective, after our first meeting with Kristina he said that all of his fears and worries were gone and he felt 100% confident that we had all of the support and care we needed from her and he was right! Kristina will always have a very special place in our heart and we know that the next time we get pregnant, we will have her there with us again!

I was privileged to know Kristina as a friend first before hiring her as my doula and I could not imagine anyone else I wanted other than her and my husband to be there with me during my daughter's birth.

My fluid was low and my father unexpectedly passed away as I was leaving for the hospital to be induced to give birth. Kristina showed up and was a calm in the middle of an unsure storm. She was a breath of fresh air and stayed up for hours all night letting me talk about my Dad and my memories of him before my birth the next morning.  I was afraid that being induced was going to lead to a similar experience with my other induced births and she had the right words that helped me make a decision that I was comfortable with and felt good about. I was not pressured into anything I didn't want and I know that Kristina's presence made all the difference. I felt safe with her and trusted her.

Kristina has doula'd me through other births, though long distance, and also through a recent surrogacy experience. I would not THINK of having any other doula but her at my birth. Ever.

She has words that give comfort and wisdom and I know that I can turn to her for the support I need. She serves women in every way that she truly can, meeting each woman where she is at regardless of where that place is. She rises to the occassion each time and goes above and beyond what you expect for a doula.  As a doula and a friend, she is priceless.

Kristina is a one of a kind woman! She has been there for my family since the birth of our 2nd child, through the birth of our 3rd child, and soon to be 4th child in May. Kristina offers much more than support to the "Mother", she works at supporting the "whole family" per their unique needs. She is prompt and attentive- professional yet warm and caring. Kristina has a way of bringing out the best in me and helping me see the strength I didnt know was there. We have laughed together, cried together and there isnt another person who my husband and I would rather have cheering us on. Kristina has been with us through a medical geared medicated birth, as well as our natural more hands off birth! That is what sets Kristina apart in my opinion- her diversity! She will go the extra mile to provide families the resources they need/desire- she has for us time and time again. I simply adore Kristina Kruzan and will not birth without her by my side and husband on the other- she is more than our doula, she is a part of my family!

I absolutely recommend Kristina Kruzan as a birth doula. After a difficult birth with my first son, I knew I wanted the support of a doula for my second birth. This desire was amplified by my husband's deployment overseas at the end of my pregnancy. When searching for a doula, I wanted someone who would support my desire for a natural birth and not cast judgment if I decided to use pain relief medications. I also wanted to find someone who I could trust and with whom I felt entirely comfortable, especially because I would be going through the process alone. Kristina fit the bill exactly.

From the start, I was impressed with Kristina's even-handed and realistic approach to the birthing process. Kristina explained that she was to be my guide through the birthing process, to present me with options and suggestions, and to support me in my decision making, but that I was always to be the ultimate decision maker. She was also non-judgmental about my birth plan.

When I went into labor, Kristina supported me by phone and came to my house immediately upon request. Upon arriving, she provided mental and physical support that helped me through my contractions. She transported me to the hospital, providing support and advice from the driver's seat the whole way. My labor was fast and intense, but Kristina's demeanor was calm. At the hospital, she helped me to navigate the choices available to me (pushing position etc.) while I was in pain. By luck, my husband was available by phone during the birth, and Kristina acted as his guide as well. After the birth, Kristina stayed with me until I was ready for her to leave, she returned the next day to address any concerns I might have, and she visited our home a few weeks later to check in. I could not have had a better experience with a doula than I did with Kristina.  I only wish I had had her support, knowledge and experience on my side during my first son's birth.

We had our initial meeting in our home, where Kristina openly answered questions and concerns. She never missed a beat when a challenging question was thrown at her by my skeptic of a husband. She handled him (and me) brilliantly and even encouraged us to look around, talk to several other doulas before making a decision. Kristina followed our lead and was also willing to communicate via email, phone call, text. She's the best pep-talker I have ever met and had an answer or advice for every question. If she wasn't the best person to answer, she always had a good resource for us. We also took our birth classes from Kristina, which were excellent. The material we covered was very useful and practical and was adjusted to meet the goals and questions provided by the students. The classes are kept small and personal in a relaxed environment. Kristina was the perfect support the day of our birth as well as the days following. She knew exactly how to handle both me and my husband individually, which was very important. Again, she followed my lead during birth and would instinctively (and with permission) massage, gently talk me through contractions, offer water at the perfect times. She is an excellent team player and assisted our midwife if needed. Never to proud to do something outside of her job description. I was very impressed with the way everyone worked together like a well oiled machine never stepping on each other's toes. Post-partum, Kristina was there checking in on me several times keeping tabs on nursing progress, potential baby blues, and accepting help from family and friends. I feel incredibly fortunate that my birth experience was so perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better person to guide me through the entire process. I wish all moms-to-be could have Kristina by their side. It wouldn't have been the same without her.

Kristina Kruzan was an excellent doula.  She came at a moments notice and was available every step of the way.  She improved the entire birthing experience.  Making suggestions, giving tips, words of comfort, massages... I would have been absolutely lost without her and I am grateful that she was their to share in the birth of our son.

Kristina was simply amazing. She helped us have an amazing birth experience. I was to be induced but my water broke the morning before the scheduled induction. This presented a complicated scenario involving the convincing of the doctor to try to let things proceed naturally first. A number of monitoring tests were conducted the first day - the results of which could have resulted in unnecessary medical intervention. Kristina was the voice of reason with an over-reactive doctor and saved me from the use of an uncomfortable drug - magnesium sulfate. The next morning when labor still didn't happen on its own I was ready to go with the pitocin. I was in the right place mentally and physically and the hospital melted away. I felt empowered like a warrior, ready to bring the pain! With Kristina's coaching I stayed focused and worked through each contraction perfectly - making them productive. I hadn't taken any classes before the birth but never did I feel the need for any kind of pain killer. Sure I was all over the room and in funky positions that freaked out some of the nurses and doctors but I didn't care. We all made it work OUR way. Kristina also did a great job of bringing my husband into the team effort, making his experience just as fulfilling as mine. I cannot even imagine how different our birth would have looked if Kristina hadn't been a part of it.

Kristina was everything I wanted and needed in a doula.  She is a professional and dedicated doula, a wonderful communicator and incredibly passionate about what she does.  Kristina is one of those rare, truly genuine people that are able to touch your life deeply and immediately.  Her ability to be in the present moment is contagious (a good tool for pregnancy and childbirth!).  I wanted a doula because I wanted to feel supported.  I wanted someone with me who wouldn't be afraid, who could encourage me and "bring me back" if I became overwhelmed.  I most certainly received all that from Kristina, and so much more.  My planned homebirth took an interesting turn when labor began suddenly and progressed quickly and my midwife was unable to reach us in time.  Kristina arrived at a moments notice, she was able to assess my situation, communicate with my midwife, paramedics and hospital personnel, and all the while stayed connected with me.  I was able to trust Kristina so much that all of the crazy things that happened so quickly and unexpectedly didn't matter at all -- I got to focus completely on staying present in my experience, breathing, just doing the work of having a baby.  I felt so taken care of.  I had the best birthing experience.  I will treasure it always, and a HUGE part of what allowed me to have this great experience was Kristina.

Comfortable. She helped birth my first baby.  While I didn't really know what was going on, she was extremely calming, and at the same time exceptionally alert to every step of the process.  She made me feel like I was the most important person in the entire hospital, and kept me aware of everything that was going on.

If I have any other children, there's no question I will use her again.

I highly recommend Kristina.  She is personable, caring, attentive and whole-hearted in her work.  She coached me through our first birth and my husband and I both agree that we would not have known what to do without her.  Her commitment to us throughout the pregnancy, birth and then post-delivery was amazing.  She never sugar-coated the process of natural childbirth and she normalized many of the challenging and unexpected moments and emotions that can accompany pregnancy and birth.  She is an incredible birth coach and she is amazing a helping with pain-management.  She turned a hospital room into a very nurturing environment for me as a new mother giving birth.  Thank you, Kristina!

I moved to Bremerton already six months pregnant with my daughter (four now!!). We had a hard time finding a doctor on the same page as us. Because I had two hernias and varicose veins, one gynecologist actually recommended a scheduled cesarean. I found Kristina and cannot begin to tell the comfort and relief she was for us. She was an amazing resource fully on the same page as us. She encouraged us to write out a birthing plan for any situation that may occur. She was not put off by the hernias. Kristina was totally supportive and informative not to mention genuine and empowering. She met us at a birthing center in Tacoma and assisted in making our every wish a reality. When in pain, I like to be alone as in not touched but not left alone. She completely read me and gently supported me through an amazing, painful and beautiful labor. My husband felt not so alone and supported as well as me. Kristina was amazing and I would highly recommend her for anyone looking for someone to support them along their birthing journey. And the pictures were amazing! ?

Kristina was my pre-natal support and main cheerleader on my journey toward VBAC.  She worked hard to help me navigate my personal labyrinth, which included overcoming my fear of being abandoned in labor, as I was by the last Doula I worked with.  She was there for me when I needed a shoulder to cry on, a question that I needed to work out, when we found out VBAC wasn't an option at 39 weeks, and most importantly, she was there when I had my cesarean, even though it was her wedding aniversary.  She stayed with my family, supporting my husband after he left my side to go with the baby to the NICU for observation.

She made a difference.

Kristina Kruzan was my doula at the birth of my 5th child, Scarlett. I have had all 5 of my children at home, with my beloved midwife, Peggy Thurston. It was wonderful and very helpful to have Kristina there. She came as soon as I called her and told her that I was in labor. We spent awhile walking around my neighborhood, to get my contractions going, during my early labor, she gave me the support I needed while my partner was taking care of our other kids. When I decided that I wanted to spend time with my partner, she was more than willing and ready to step in and help care for my children. It was nice to have someone there to assure that everything was taken care of, to aid my partner in comforting me, and to assure that I wasn't bothered or stressed out while I was in "labor land"! Kristina always showed complete awareness and respect for the sanctity of the labor and birth, and played a big part in facilitating an incredibly beautiful, and 100% positive birth experience for me, my baby, my partner, and the whole rest of our family!

Before becoming pregnant I could never imagine needing or wanting a doula, but after getting to know Kristina through her childbirth classes both my husband and I couldn’t imagine Evan’s birth without her there. Kristina’s support, encouragement, and teachings were of incredible value during our pregnancy and the birth of our son. She was flexible, patient, understanding, and so genuinely kind. Any worries, concerns and questions we had were addressed passionately and with great enthusiasm. For the duration of our classes, we formed a relationship with Kristina that carried over into the birth and recovery, and she will hold a special place in our hearts for it and for so many other reasons. Her compassion and whole-hearted eagerness to help us with whatever we needed, whenever we needed it, was so greatly appreciated during the pregnancy and especially postpardum. She addressed our struggles with confidence and wisdom, introducing us to even more invaluable resources along the way. We are forever grateful for what Kristina has given us and feel incredibly blessed that she is part of our life, and of our son’s.
