As first-time parents my husband and I needed support and encouragement to prepare for the birth for our baby in February 2016. Lisa’s calm, kind, and accommodating presence was apparent even before we met. I reached out to her about our need for childbirth and baby care classes that were very specific to our needs, and Lisa cheerfully came up with a plan for us on short notice. We originally were not planning on having a doula at the birth, but after our first class with Lisa, we knew that she would ease our worries at the hospital. She helped us develop our birth plan and made me feel empowered to reach my goal of giving birth without an epidural. Lisa was a valuable resource for us during my 36-hour labor and delivery. She set a relaxing ambiance with a scented oil diffuser and made sure the lights stayed dim. She came up with creative ideas such as using a birthing peanut (like a birth ball but shaped like the nut). She gave my husband a couple of much needed breaks. With her support my husband was able to be at his best. During part of the pushing phase, I was standing and using his shoulders for support. My husband being very involved was important to me, and Lisa’s knowledge of the birthing process helped my husband and I come together as team in a way that would not have been possible without her expertise. Her intelligence, kindness, and ingenuity enabled me to reach my goal of having a natural birth! Overall, she helped make the birth of our son an extremely positive experience. Her visit to our home after his birth was invaluable! I was having trouble getting the hang of breastfeeding, but Lisa had some amazing tips, which allowed me to exceed my goal of breastfeeding for 6 months. I have not used formula in my son’s first 11 months! Lisa’s services are worth far more than she charges. When I told my mom everything that Lisa had done for our family she summed it up really well in four simple words: Hallelujah for the doula!

Lisa was our doula when our son was born in September 2015. I say "our doula" because she was honestly a lifesaver for both my husband and myself. She met with us beforehand, responded to e-mails and texts, and was very warm and genuine. My water broke rather gradually after dinner and I actually texted her before telling my husband because I wasn't sure if it was a false alarm. She came over in the wee hours of the morning which calmed my husband and myself and allowed me to labor at home longer than I otherwise would have. When we got to the hospital, Lisa helped me advocate for a mobile monitor so that I could labor in the shower. I don't know what magic she worked but I was able to labor in the shower for three hours, rather undisturbed. I labored and pushed for a total of 20 hours unmedicated but I know Lisa would have given me her full support if I had an epidural too. After a very long night, morning, and afternoon, I had a c-section becasue my son dropped at a weird angle and while I was exhausted, I knew that I did everything I could. My son was never in distress and Lisa helped me ask questions and get answers throughout so I felt like I was truly giving thoughtful and informed consent. I know a lot of women who were very upset or even traumatized when they needed a c-section but I felt cared about, supported, and powerful throughout the birth process and Lisa was a huge part of that. Lisa followed up with us afterwards too. I am hoping for a VBAC with our next child and we will definitely want Lisa on our team once more. Even if I wind up with another c-section, I know she will once again be worth every penny.

Lisa was my doula for the birth of my fourth child in December of 2014, and my first doula. My previous birth experience had been rather traumatic and Lisa was the perfect support person for this birth. She helped me think through my desires for my labor and delivery and I really appreciated her encouragement and willingness to help me and my husband process through medical decisions that needed to be made. I was aiming for an unmedicated hospital birth and Lisa was a key part of my team that helped me achieve that goal. I especially appreciated her guidance through a variety of labor positions as baby was having a hard time descending. Lisa's gentle yet confident demeanor was so appreciated by both my husband and me. I highly recommend Lisa as she is a wonderful doula and such a kind, genuine person and is very knowledgeable about birth and babies!

Lisa is a very sweet person and that made our family feel very comfortable. I had a natural birth just as planned and I have to thank Lisa for that. She was very helpful, she made herself available and she encouraged me all the way. She gave me tons of tips and suggestions that came very handy on delivery day. She also gave a lot of support to my husband to help him play an important role during the delivery of our son. Lisa surprised us with a video of my son the moment he was put in my arms and that is priceless. I never get tired of watching that video. She was very helpful and supportive after my son was born during her post delivery visit, she even offer to do the dishes for us and that is just going above and beyond and understanding the struggles of being new parents. I would definitely recommend Lisa and will use her services again without any hesitation. I am very glad to have found Lisa.

Hello,

I want to start out by saying that getting a doula for the birth of our first child was a very good decision for our delivery. My husband was a bit hesitant at first and didn't really quite understand what the role of a doula would be. However, after meeting up with Lisa we both felt reassured that it was a good decision. Lisa is a very empathetic individual who really knows her stuff about the birth process and how to help the momma to stay cool, calm, and comfortable. She will be there when both partners are tired and need support and also to advocate for you in a situation where you are unable to speak or understand what's going on. My goal for the birth was to have an unmediated childbirth and a part of what helped me achieve this was the confidence of knowing that my body could do this. Various talks about the topic and how to deal with the contractions with Lisa helped me mentally when the moment arrived. If we had to chose again Lisa wold be our choice of a doula!!

We could not recommend Lisa highly enough! Lisa was such an integral part of our birth story, it's impossible to reflect on that experience without thinking of her. We weren't sure about hiring a doula at first, but after we decided on a natural birth, my husband Andrew and I found Lisa through a mutual friend. Besides making the choice to birth naturally, hiring Lisa was the best decision we made.

She is professional, loving, understanding, knowledgeable and passionate about providing the best support to mothers and their birth partners. Her expertise gave my husband so much confidence and allowed him to be fully present with me. I have never felt more cared for than when I labored and I owe so much of that to Lisa and the peaceful, joyful tone she set. When we had an unexpecited scare right after delivery, my husband was able to go with our son to the NICU, knowing Lisa would be with me the entire time. She helped bring peace to a difficult situation and I am forever grateful for her presence that day.

Her follow-up visit was so much fun as she got to meet and snuggle with our new son. It's clear that she loves what she does. We've stayed in touch with pictures and stories since his birth almost eight months ago and we look forward to having more babies with her by our side.

Lisa was such a pleasure to work with and was a real knowledgeable and true help when it came to the birth of my son. She is kind, intuative, and so so patient.

Lisa was consistent in her communications with me throughout my third trimester. She would check in with me and share her insights as to my progression and impending labor. That steady stream of communication really helped put me at ease when it was go time.

I had a lot of thoughts going into giving birth to my first child. I wanted this amazing story. I wanted to look back on it and say it went exactly how I had envisioned. Though it wasn't far from what my imagination had come up with, my labor wasn't as I had planned. Lisa was there to tell me it was ok. She helped me rationalize the situation in a way that didn't create a sense of emergency and that was invaluable to my experience. She was calm. She was comfortable. She was there.

I think the real person who should be writing this testimony should be my husband. That guy had it made. He was there. He got to be witness, but he didn't have to feel the wrath that was my all natural labor. He sings the praises of Lisa to each and every friend of ours who is expecting and even those who aren't. He was on the fence, but now he could be a birth doula spokesperson.

I reccomend Lisa to my friends and family who are interested in the support that is offered bby Doula services. She will most definietly be there, if she accepts, to be my doula for my second birth (in the very far far future)!!

My husband and I were blessed to have Lisa as we worked with her before and during labor. Being that it was our first child, Lisa's knowledge was appreciated in our two pre labor meetings.  She helped us develop a birthing plan and think through what was important to my husband and I. She made sure to understand us as a couple, my fears, what would be comforting and helpful to me during labor, and she wanted clear expectations on how we envisioned her helping us.  Even before we started laboring, we knew hiring Lisa as our Doula was a great decision. She came and helped us think through techniques for laboring in our home and was available to text and call in the weeks and days leading up to labor.  My labor was quite long, and Lisa joined us in our home in the afternoon first, to check in. She later joined us in the evening and stayed with us (7 hours) and transitioned with us to the hospital where she stayed until our daughter was born (~25 hours).  Lisa served me by reassuring me, coaching me emotionally, helping me get in new positions, sitting with me in the shower, applying back pressure, holding my leg during labor, and was a great emotional support to my husband during labor. She helped us process information in order to make decisions and helped us with our midwife to achieve the natural labor we wanted. In the end, Lisa felt like family in that we shared a very intimate experience. Lisa inspired confidence for my husband and I. We recommend a doula to all of our friends who are pregnant. And for sny of those in the area, we specifically recommend Lisa. What an answer to prayer she was/is. Everyone in our family has heard us boasting about Lisa's giftings.

After initially being unsure about the value of hiring a doula, we decided to meet with Lisa and were impressed by her knowledge and resourcefulness. We then decided to hire her and this turned out to be one of the BEST decisions we made during the pregnanacy (this was my first one). Lisa is very knowledgeable and professional, but yet very personable. During the prenatal visits, she was very good about connecting with me and identifying my concerns and fears. She was very thorough about explaining what to expect over the next few weeks and made a genuine effort to get to know me and my husband and understand our birth plan. She also helped me with rehearsing some labor positions during these vistis, which were incredibly helpful on the day of labor even before I was ready to have Lisa over. On the day of labor, Lisa's hellp and support was beyond what we could have asked for. She was a great physical and emotional support throughtout the process. Even my midwife found several of her suggestions regarding positions and techniques very valuable. I had intense back labor and she knew some great massaging and counter pressure techniques that provided relief. Even after delivery, she did not rush to leave inspite of the late hours, and instead waited to help with breast feeding and made sure we were OK before leaving. Her postpartum visit was also just as resourceful. She helped me with tips for breast feeding and talked about the birth experience to help me re-inforce what a wonderful experience I had. I would recommend Lisa as a doula whole-heartedly and have full confidence in her ability and expertise.

Having Lisa by my side for the birth of my second child was such an incredible blessing! She was unwavoringly present to me and my needs for the whole 10 hours or so that she was there. She has a wonderful gift of making you feel loved and comforted and brings such a peaceful, warm, gentle mothering presance that you can't help but relax around her which is absolutely perfect for times like laboring. Something else that I really appreciated about her was that she included my husband. Both Lisa and my husband worked together like a team to tend to me. I felt so nurtured and safe both during and after labor. Also, my first birthing experience was kind of hectic and not what I was planning so it was very important to me to have someone who was considerate of my birthing wishes. Lisa took time to find out what my wishes were and implement them as best as she could. She made herself very available to me both before and after the birth for questions or simply to discuss fears. Lisa, always made me feel like I had her full attention and that she had time for me. I'm truly thankful for having had her as my doula and look forward to hopefully having her again for a potential baby #3!

Lisa was my doula for the birth of my 2nd daughter in June of 2011. From the moment we met for our first (of 2) prenatal meetings I knew it was a good match. She was very knowledgable about birth and different birthing methods and most of all had experience with the birthing method I had chosen (hypnobabies). She was always available by phone or email and was very helpful. During my birthing time she was amazing. She knew just what to do to help me be comfortable and calm. She was patient, reassuring, strong, and compassionate. She took over when my husband needed a break during a tough transition and was just what I needed to continue completely unmedicated until my baby was born. I would highly recommend Lisa. I wish she could have been at the birth of my 3rd daughter last year but the timing didn't work out. She was amazing. I don't think I would have had a completely awesome unmedicated birth without her love and guidance through the process. She truly cares for and loves birthing women. She is an asset to the birthing community!

Lisa was our first doula we ever had and she is excellent! She was a great support for both my husband and I. The weeks leading up to our delivery she was available for any questions we had and met with us to prepare and make sure we had the birth experience we wanted. She was a great encourager during my labor, and gave us a lot of peace and comfort as we worked to deliver our baby naturally. She is patient, well-educated and is passionate about family. My husband was very thankful for her presence and support during labor and delivery. Together she helped us welcome our daughter! I could not give enough recommendation for her services!

Lisa was my doula with my birth. I was 17, and she was exactly what I needed. She was there for me 100%. When my daughter was breech, she came with me to chiropractic and moxobustion appointments to try and turn her. She gave me all the information i could need on natural birth, postbirth, and breatfeeding. With my next birth, i'll ask her to be by my side in a heartbeat. She did a wonderful job. Lisa loves anything and everything about birth, anyone can see it in her eyes when she talks about it. Wonderful. :)
