I was terrified to give birth the second time around after a horrible first experience, with loads of complications and medical interventions.  I didn't know what this birth would look like and imagined it would be more of the same although I was hopeful it wouldn't be. For this reason I was hesitant to hire a doula but also desperately wanted to.  Katie was the perfect addition to my birth experience and is the reason I had a non Medicated natural birth this time around. I have nothing but positive things to say about her abilities and the way she made the environment (a hospital room I had bad memories of) feel calm. She blended in but was there any time I needed her to be, intuitively predicting when those times would be. She kept me moving and trying different things for comfort and made the labor tolerable and feel quicker than it was. She also knew before any of the hospital staff that I was ready to deliver and made sure I was safely back in my hospital bed to do so. i highly recommend her and think anyone who allows her to be a part of their birth experience will have a wonderful experience also!

Kathryn made all the difference in the world.  Very encouraging and calming at the same time. She set a safe word with my wife to only be used if the pain got to be too much and she wanted the epidural, and then that was all that was said about it until the time came. In the mean time ( 12 hours or so of contractions) she never left my wife's side and kept her spirits as high as possible, even when others added elements of stress.

We wont hesitate to recommend her to anyone wanting the best, and , if and when the time comes, will be honored to have her again.

All the love in the world,

The Hefners

I can't express how helpful Kathryn was during the birth of our daughter. She is very compassionate and has a wealth of knowledge which put me at ease as my due date came closer. My birth plan was to labor at home as long as I could and have a natural birth at our hospital. Long story short.... preeclampsia and a sudden onset of bells palsy meant it was time to induce me. 17 hours of hard labor followed, then my daughter decided to try and make a grand entrance sunny-side-up and got stuck. It was emergency c-section time. From the start, my labor wasn't natural and not what I wanted. I felt defeated and as if I had failed. Kathryn could see my distress and reminded me that I was doing what was best for my baby girl and I. Kathryn was our ROCK during the birth of our daughter. She was very calm and supportive of all my descions. She was by my side for 30 Straight hours! I dont know what I would have done without her! She was such an amazing support for myself and my husband during the labor and was able to keep me calm and centered during my labor. I am so grateful that she was my doula! No one knows what their birth story will be, but having a doula like Kathryn helps alleviate the fears, which results in an easier labor. Thank you Kathryn for being our doula!

the difference between the birth of my daughter in 2011 and the birth of my son in 2015 was having Kathryn by my side. With Katie next to me I felt like I could do anything. The nurses were great but having Katie as my doula made all the difference. She was comforting in ways a nurse, a Dr. Or even my husband could not be. She massaged my limbs, sprayed essential oils, and heated a hand made herb filled neck pillow for comfort. And at the end when it was time to push it was Katie's voice I heard, urging me, encouraging me. Thanks to Katie my the difference between my first and second birth were night and day, my second birth was more than enjoyable, it was a celebration! The way a birth should be.

needless to say I would reccommed Kathryn to anyone- and I believe being a Doula is Katie's niche, anyone would be lucky to have her, she's amazing

Katie helped me through every step of labor, I'm so thankful she was there to guide me through the challenges and the rough patches. She was there to talk too, massage my legs, answered all my questions I had the best to her knowledge, made me feel confident and proud of myself & always knew all the right things to say and do. I couldn't of been more happy with her.. Physically and emotionally she was the best help I had..  :)

perfect experience 10/10 :)

Kathryn was an angel to me on the day I delivered my son. She has this amazing energy about her & it's just what I needed while going through labor. Kathryn is very strong. She was there for me with every back contraction I had. Not just anyone can be a Doula. It takes a true gem to do this job, & she was my gem that day. With her help I stayed hydrated, strong & believe she helped my labor go by faster. She also helped me stay strong with no pain medication. If I have any more children there is no doubt Kathryn will be my Doula again. My partner was so happy to have worked with her. We were all so thankful for her help that beautiful day!

Kathryn was a wonderful part of our birth experience. She is kind, respectful, calm, knowledgeable, confident, and fun. The nurses at Sutter were impressed with her work- she is super good at what she does. I really appreciated her way of giving lots of information while never pushing any one specific choice. if I was going to have a third baby I would absolutely love to have her as my doula!

Katie was awesome in assisting me with my birth. I couldn't have imagined my birth experience without her. I don't think I would have had a natural birth after 35 hours of labor without her. She made the experience a lot more calm and less stressful. She helped relieve the pressure off of my back during back labor. She also allowed my husband to rest and have breaks. She has a natural ability for being a doula with her comforting personality. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Kathryn did an amazing job for both my deliveries!! 1st delivery I ended up getting a epidural but had her help and support thru my 2hours of pushing! 2nd delivery went very VERY fast!! She was there right when I arrived and about 2hours later with amazing feet massages and her keeping me calm once I realized everything was moving to fast to get an epidural (I was terrified!!) but once my water broke he was out 2 pushes later!
