I've volunteered and worked people from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Mothers, pregnant women, single mothers, women, teens, homeless people, refugees, people with physical and mental health challenges, as well as victims of physical, mental and sexual violence. I was a board member at local food bank and a women's shelter for teens. I led three teams of women to Haiti where, in a primitive hospital setting, we fed and held infants and toddlers dying of AIDS. I also provided care and therapeutic touch for women who were dying of AIDS. Career Work: Refugee camps in Thailand advocating for women who were isolated victims of physical and sexual violence inflicted by Thai Pirates. We developed a cottage industry which connected them to one another, their community and provided them with income to purchase food rations. We forged deep friendships based trust and mutual respect. I also worked in concert with the Mennonite Central Committee, RCMP and United Nations advocating for refugees who were denied refugee status, or were facing difficulties with their applications to be resettled in Canada. Many were handicapped, the elderly and single pregnant mothers. Coordinator of two inner-city locations that provided food, clothing, furniture, referrals and trusteeship. Most clients were women. - Executive director of Housing Co-operative where a high percentage of tenants lived below the poverty line and a high percentage of units were allocated to victims of domestic violence. - Women’s Correctional Facility where I worked one on one with inmates - some were pregnant - many were victims of physical and sexual violence and/or suffered from drug addiction. Additional training: An Intensive Course in medical practices in the developing world where we learned how to assist birthing women. We also had hands-on experience learning how to diagnose and treat the illnesses and injuries, of people living in very remote locations, where doctors were not available.

As one of Tina's clients, we had the privilege of her calm expertise during our water birth. Afterward she was more than happy to bring to our home pictures of the entire experience, placenta capsules and a tincture. I must add, she did a fabulous job with the placenta. Tina warmed our hearts with the cutest pendant made from the umbilical cord. She is an amazing person, it is hard not to love her even while in pain :-). She made the experience a very memorable one. Tina is the best! Love, love her.
