Bringing a baby into the world and caring for them can feel like a monumental task. No matter how many books you read or how many classes you take, when the day comes, having a helping hand and listening ear can make all the difference in the world for new parents. As a doula, my goal is to ensure that new families feel cared for, educated, and empowered through the first 3 months of their child’s life.

Client Testimonials for Mary Wise

It's my pleasure to give Mary a reference. If I could sum up my sentiment about her stay with us in a few sentences it would be that she instilled such a sense of calm in our home, as well as made us feel like confident parents. Her education and experience absolutely showed with whatever concern or question I had about our baby. She helped me develop a schedule, which helped bring some normalcy and routine to such a wild time in life. She also attended my lactation consultation and then helped me implement what we learned. She is absolutely amazing, and I couldn't imagine my post-partum time without her.

More on the sense of calm, as that resonates with me the most. As a new mom, I was nervous about everything. Gosh, it was hard. Is the baby eating enough? Should I be eating those foods? Should I feed her for longer periods? How am I going to do this? To all these questions and more, Mary was there calmly and sweetly offering me a sense of peace, comfort and knowledge, which to me seemed to come from her experience with new moms. Even the way she held and calmed down my baby was amazing to watch; it was clear she had more experience than I did, and she taught me a lot.

Mary came and stayed with us for about 2 weeks (I wish it were longer!) when our daughter was around 2.5 weeks old and helped us set up a routine that I still use to this day (our daughter is 4 months old now).

We're so glad we called Mary! The 2 nights she spent with us were invaluable. We learned about ways to soothe our baby to sleep that have greatly improved our days. She taught us tricks to make diaper changes calmer and even a little fun (!) and introduced us to the wonderful world of wraps for baby carrying. We can't say enough good things about Mary. Thank you!!!!

Mary provided fabulous overnight care for us when our daughter was born.  Not only did she enable us to sleep (invaluable for us older parents!), she was a terrific sounding board and had great ideas and advice around all things baby.  She was a friend in addition to being a professional.  My baby daughter thrived in her presence.

All three of us - me, my husband, and my daughter loved Mary and we were sad to see her go - she really became part of the family.  I have recommended Mary to my friends who are currently pregnant, and I will continue to do so.

Mary is warm, caring, comfortable, easy to be around, and easy to talk to.  When I need to go out of town for a couple of days to attend and participatae in my best friend's wedding, Mary helped us out by coming over for some extra hours so that my husband could work and maintain his sanity.

Mary was a god send!  She was so helpful, comforting and supportive when we got home from the hospital.  Her warm and calming presence was soothing for not only baby, but mommy and daddy, when we needed it most.  Those first few weeks are so hard with the sleep deprivation that she was able to really ensure times where I could recharge; that helped me be able to focus on my son.  Her support helped me be a better nurser, too.  When we had an early crisis; a fever at 2 weeks, she even came to Childrens and stayed with us there.  I could not have survived those first 8 weeks without her.  When I had some business travel at 4 months, she came back and helped my husband be alone with baby for the first time.  I would recommend her whole-heartedly!

Mary was calm, knowledgable and dedicated during the birth of our daughter. Having Mary at our birth allowed us to be more confident, relaxed and in the moment. I highly recommend hiring Mary as your doula!
