Giving birth is like an  emergency in this county. I wanted the experience of a calm gentle birth. I wanted to keep my Placenta. I wanted to experience my birth I didn't want to just happen and I'm there. My Doula Stephanie Joseph help that happen for me. If she wasn't there my birth plan would not have happened. I understand now why a doula is so important especially for an African America. Our needs are not heard and she was there to fight for me. what ever I need she mad sure the doctor and nurse heard and  executed.  After birth she was there for questions and sends reassuring message. I feel great knowing that I give birth naturally and I got to understand the birth of my beautiful child.

Stephanie was everything I could have wanted in a doula. She was always there when I needed her, and still here when I need her now. I believe that having her at my birth allowed for me to feel super comfortable, and i actually had fun. I will definitely need her at my next birth. I just consider her a part of the family now.

Stephanie is absolutely amazing! Stephanie is a born nurturer and is one of the most loving human beings I have ever met. My husband and I always say that our birth experience wouldn't be half as amazing if she wasn't a part of it. Stephanie worked with us starting in my second trimester. She helped me find ways to relax and helped us with different stretching and massage techniques. Stephanie helped us prepare emotionally and physically. She had us fill out numerous exercizes and forced us to talk about things that we never thought important such as immunizations, circumcision, and even our education plan after birth -- these things turned out enlightenting and so important. During the birth she was with us for the long hall. We had a couple particularly negative care providers in the room and Stephanie respectfully shut them down. Further, all of my doctors loved Stephanie, they thought her thirst for knowledge and her obvious love of women and children was infectious. Stephanie also came after we delivered our daughter to help us with things like nursing, my after care, bathing, and more. Stephanie was my sanity for the months after birth. Some days we watched Oprah or The Property Brothers and others we discussed dreams and asperations all the while she helped me organize the house and find better ways of caring for my daughter. Stephanie is such a special person that we have made her a member of our family -- my daughter calls her Aunt Stephanie, and I tell people she's my cousin. I can't imagine not having her in our lives and I am happy that I don't have to. Her positive attitude and love of life and people is amazing. I feel blessed to know her and am infinately grateful that we invited her to our birth experience. If you get Stephanie as a Doula, consider yourself lucky!
