I am so glad we hired Margo and the Piedmont Doulas! I had to have an emergency C section (not part of our birth plan of course), but Margo was there the minute I was out of surgery. She came to recovery to help me breastfeed for the first time, and stayed until we were settled into our room. I'm convinced my baby boy is an excellent nurser because of the help I recieved from her in the days after birth. She was also fantastic in responding quickly to texts with answers to questions I had (and I had a LOT of questions!)
I can't recommend her enough!

Having Margo Shelton as a doula for my very first grand child was the most wonderful experience besides having my own children I have ever had the pleasure of being involved in . Margo was helpful, compassionate and very informative . She helped all of us to know what to expect, what to look for and what to be alarmed about in this my daughter in-laws first pregnancy. Margo made the whole family (momma, daddy and both grandmothers and auntie) feel so at ease that the birth went perfectly. Margo involved us in the whole birthing experience from beginning to end. she laughed with us she cried with us she supported us even after the birth of my beautiful granddaughter. We could always count on Margo bein there day or night, like a guardian angel looking out for the good of not only mother and baby but the whole family . We not only found a doula we found a wonderful friend forever.
Forever Greatful For Margo

I interviewed three doulas before choosing Margo. She gave off a calm friendly vibe and was someone who I knew could support me during my birth. She was willing to meet with me when I needed someone to talk to and just to get to know her more on a personal level before my birthing time. Margo was available throughout my pregnancy and checked in with me which made me feel like I was on her mind and not just a client. She was exactly what I needed on the day I gave birth! She came to my house in the wee morning hours, supported me throughout the day and stayed after our baby was born until I was comfortable. I always knew I wanted a doula at my birth and I'm so happy we chose Margo!

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Margo! She was invaluable to our labor experience. I had a very long labor (my daughter wasn't born until 26 hours after my water broke) and Margo was with us for the vast majority of it. She was resourceful and supportive in helping us stratgize how to get labor moving. She also provided incredible emotional and physical comfort. For example, 24 hours in, my midwife suggested we needed to try some pitocin. I losted it big time. In my mind, pitocin equalled epidural and no water birth. Margo had the right words and talked me down. She was right there to rub my back through every pitocin induced contraction- she got me through it. And when I suddently hit 10 cm with very little warning, she started refilling that pool super fast. Her dedication and quick movement was the primary reason I was able to give birth in the water just like I wanted. In short, Margo is a fantatsic douila. We highly recommend her.

Having Margo as our doula was one of th best decisions we made! She filled us with so much knowledge that we would have not known otherwise. Prior to using Margo I didn't even know what a doula was and now I would never get pregnant without hiring Margo to help. She is very good at what she does and definetly helped me while in labor. I have already recommended her to ALL my friends and family that are currently pregnant and will continue boasting about her to everyone I know that is pregnant. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

With my first birth I followed everything by the book in a sense. Any words that came out of the Doctors mouth was to me at the time the only way to go. One of the biggest things I appreciated when expecting my second baby boy was how much knowledge I gained about the birthing experience. My Doula also called "super awesome Margo" helped me so much to really become more independent with my birth and strong/determined enough to accomplish a natural birth. Looking back I find beauty in both of my births because I'm thankful by the end to have both of my beautiful, healthy boys! But with my first birth I did end up having an epidural, which now I reaize how much that drug stole away from my birthing experience. I'm so thankful to have had a dedicated, highly informed, loving, and motivating Doula by my side during my second birth to help me work through the pain (the only kind of pain that is worth having) I will always be thankful for having my Doula by my side, helping me switch to various positions, massaging, soothing music, and many other helpful factors she had done. I look forward to my next pregancy (whenever that will be) and I'll be sure to call up "super awesome Margo" to be my Doula!
