I was lucky enough to find Jessica and be a part of the Roots Program at Orchard Births about a month before my due date. I had been looking for and very badly wanting a doula, but was not able to afford the cost. Jessica worked with us through their new Roots Program and was able to provide us with her services even though we could not pay up front. Our meetings were wonderful and really put my mind at ease knowing she would be there with me to help me navigate my unmedicated birth, something that was a new experience for me and I was a little nervous about. When I went into labor, everything moved so quickly that I wasn't able to fully enjoy the perks of her services, but just her presence and calming voice of reassurance was a blessing. I had a hard time relaxing since I was progressing very quickly, but everytime I would hear her calmly tell me to relax I would remember to breath deeper and slower, which helped me get through the rest of the contraction and back on track. Her encouraging words kept my mindset positive and pushed me to keep fighting through the pain. I will highly recommend Jessica as a doula and will also go back to her for the birth of my next child!!!
Jessica was very sweet and professional throughout my entire labor and delivery as well as during our pre/postnatal visits. my husband and I are both so glad we had her at the birth. Her support and encouragement were invaluable.
Jessica was a great help to our family as we prepared for the birth of our firstborn. Before the birth She took the time to answer any questions we had about things from pain management techniques to recommended peditricians for our little one. During labor she was available for anything we needed and provided physical and emotional support for myself and my husband. After the arrival of our son she took the time to check in often to make sure things were going smoothly and to answer any additional questions we had. She was very informative and took the time to do any additional research our many questions required. Jessica was a great help throughout the pregnancy and birth and I would recommend her services to anyone looking for additional support during this huge life transition.
Jessica was absolutely perfect! I originally wanted a doula because I was afraid my husband would be unable to attend the birth because of a lack of child care. I got peace of mind and so much more. She was with me for 2 weeks of prodromal labor that didn't go any where because of cervical scar tissue. When baby was all on the left side and causing awful round ligament pain she helped me stretch and open my hips so he could move more to the center. Her words of encouragement really helped me get through those 2 very long weeks.
When I finally went into labor she was at the hospital quickly and prepared for any situation. She helped me stay in calm through contractions and distracted in between. She suggest positions and movements while I labored with her peanut ball in the shower. Her encouraging voice was like a lifeline that I clung to during the crests of contractions. When the contractions got too hard and the urge to push too stong, while I was only at a 5, she supported me in my decision to have a small amount of iv pain medication to help take the edge off so we could wait for the scar tissue to release. Once the scar tissue finally relaxed and baby was delivered she helped me get up to go the bathroom and shower. She even cleaned up blood in the bathroom so my older children weren't scarred by the bathroom murder scene. She came over a few days after my birth to check up and see how nursing was going. Overall, the best experience I could have hoped for.
I would recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a great doula for any birth!
