I have worked with preemies, infants and toddlers for about 40 years, in part as a Norland Nanny http://www.norland.co.uk/ . But also as a mother - by birth (3), by adoption (2), as a foster mother (about 100) and as Nanna to 7 grandchildren. I volunteer as a Doula at several Women's Shelters. I have also supported teen mom's through Young Lives, an arm of Young Life. I have volunteered in the court system as a CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate. My husband and I have been married since 1981 and I deeply appreciate his support for the many roles I play in women's lives. Our 5 children are a joy to us. Our youngest died in 2011 at six years old due to her Congenital Heart Defect, thus we are eager to see Pulse OX screening mandated for every state. My work as a PP Doula encompasses newborn parent education, bathing, soothing, swaddling, nursing, recognising the babies cues and needs. Much of this knowledge comes from my degree in Child Development from Norland, and the experiences I have had through the years as a maternity nurse in the private family homes
During pregnancy, we will meet several times. I will assist you in planning your birth and just getting to know you. I will be at your birth from when you call, through birth and afterwards for about 2 hours. I will visit once or twice after you get home to review your birth with you and to offer help with any concerns that may have arisen. As your PPDoula, I will teach you about your baby, I show you how care for your baby. I can help you with all things baby, including sleeping and breastfeeding. I can also provide insight to you as you recover and heal.

We are so grateful to have had Beverley present as our doula for the birth of both of our children. I was induced with our first and went into labor naturally with our second. The emotional and mental support was priceless- there were moments when I found it difficult process what was going on or to think though the options that the midwife or doctor were giving us, and she was instrumental in helping me work through both the physical and the emotional/mental intensity. The peace of mind knowing that I had someone with extensive knowledge and experience to walk with me through their births was so beneficial for both my husband and me. It would have been such a different birth without her experienced support!
God knew what He was doing!! Mrs Bouchard is, literally, a life saver! This was our fourth babe and we elected to go to St Mary's in Richmond instead of our local hospital. My husband had fallen ill with strep and the flu and, unbeknownst to us, was having an allergic reaction to his meds. He was in bad shape. I woke with contractions 5 mins a part at 5 am. There was no way my hubby could drive me! He called Mrs Bouchard and she drove me down to st mary's and got me to the hospital with 5 mins to spare before our sweet daughter entered the world!!! Nothing rattled her on the way down! She drove the interstate and coached me through contractions at the same time! Calm cool and collected the WHOLE TIME. I can't recommend her enough!!!!!
Beverly was great. Just about everything about my daughter's birth was the opposite of what I had hoped for, and I was very nervous about the process. Beverly's calmness and peacful company made it that much easier. I had a C-Section - and I remember googling "do I need a doula if I'm having a C-section". I had no answer to that question at the time - but now I'm so glad she was there. Now I can look back on the birth as something positive in every way - despite it being the opposite of what I had hoped for, and I wouldn't change it for the world. She also helped us with the baby car seat, and after the birth, with knowledge on breastfeeding. We all benefitted from her company, emotional support, knowedge, and peaceful aura.
Beverley Bouchard is an exceptional doula and human being. I am eternally grateful for Ms. Bouchard's deep care and compassion during one of the most important, difficult, joyful, and complicated times of my life. Beverley was a guardian angel to me and my family as she humbly and lovingly served and cared for us from second-trimester pregnancy to post-partum. She was a reliable rock for me emotionally, physically, and spiritually as she drove and accompanied me to visits to the doctor, comforted and strengthened me as my doctors and I tried to best deal with my high-risk pregnancy, sat with me pre-op and post-op for my C-section, waited with me as I settled into my hospital room, checked in on me throughout my hospital stay, assisted me with going home from the hospital, and helped me with adjusting to life post-partum. Her wisdom, experience, and understanding of pregnancy, the human body, and life itself give me much comfort and confidence as a new mother. I am so humbled by Beverley's servant heart, hands, and feet. She is forever a part of my family's fantastic story of the miraculous pregnancy and birth of our beautiful son.
I had no idea how much I was going to need Beverley until our son's birthday. Even as a nurse with a mother/baby background, I had no idea what I was doing or what to expect. Beverley assured me that what I felt was normal, and helped advocate for me with the hospital staff. She took my concerns and plans seriously, and made sure that the decisions I made during labor were the ones I wanted. She was so gentle and encouraging through the entire labor, and her pain management techniques provided relief. Her support for my husband and me was invaluable. I can't imagine birthing a baby without her!
Beverely was fabulous! She was an invaluable asset to us during the entire process and encouraged both myself and my husband throughout the journey. Beverely as a great advocate to our preferences and our birth plan- even when several items in our birth plan went out the window. Beverely adapted easily to the changes and provided continuous support. She was a calm presence in the birthing room, and I really appreciated her words of encouragement/utilizaition of pressure points and massage during those painful contractions. Beverely definitely helped in lessening the intensity of contractions and labor through her strategies. She provided my husband with expertise, suggestions, and support in his role. She in no way took away from his role as the birthing partner, rather she empowered him. She was there to answer questions before and after labor and made home visits before the birth as well as hospital visit- which was a nice touch. We are so pleased with her services and in her success in making our day so special!
I HIGHLY recommend Beverley. She is a wonderful and very big hearted individual who helped me through quite a whirlwind of a delivery of my 3rd little one. She was there helping me stick to my birth plan and was there when things made a turn for the worst and I had to deliver my baby immediately (at only 8 cm dilated) or be rushed into an emergency c-section. Through the grace of God and with her calming reassurance, I was able to deliver a healthy baby girl WITHOUT going through the trama of another c-section. She held my hand, wiped away my tears and made that moment in time less scary. I'm so thankful to have had her there every step of the way.
Beverley was an incredible help in my 45 hour labor. She helped make the horrible times bearable, and was great at helping my husband and I have the birth that we wanted. I would recommend her to anyone. She even wrote up my birth story for me and dropped it off on one of her postnatal visits!
