Tress was exceptional. She helped me figure out what kind of birth I wanted and then helped make it happen. She was available when I had questions or when I needed advice. Something I really appreciated was her knowledge about a topic without the pressure of her opinion. In addition to educating me, Tress took the time to educate my partner. During labor, Tress knew what I needed and helped facilitate a long home labor. She was also the voice I needed when we went to the hopsital. She kept me out of my head and in my body which took the pressure off of the logistics so that I could just focus on me and baby. The birth of my daughter was perfect, and I attribute a lot of it to Tress.
Tress is an extremely knowledgable and outgoing doula! She is super committed to the welfare of women and the precious little ones we are carrying. I would highly recommend her and her service to any expecting mother.
Tress was such an awesome person to have with me during my pregnancy, my delivery, and my post partum recovery period. She goes above and beyond during pregnancy, she is a rock during delivery, and she was my best friend post partum. Throughout my entire pregnancy I had so many questionns about baby's development, his movement, his positioning, was he supposed to have hiccups at the same time every day? The internet made me crazy, but Tress was the wealth of knowledge that I needed to get to sleep at night., even during my bouts of insomnia. She has a book for everything, an entire library of knowledge, that she was willing to tap into everytime I had a question. She's also a certified aromatherapist (which she puts to excellent use during delivery and postpartum), and she is one of the few doulas in the area that will get hands on during your prenatal visits to help with the hip pain and sciatica.
During delivery, Tress kept me calm before I got into the car to head to the hospital. She was my cheerleader. While I was on the road to the hospital, she was already there, and fortunately, since she knew my birthing history, she had staff ready to meet me in the parking lot, where the baby was born just a few moments after we pulled into the hospital. Tress didn't miss a beat. She made sure everything was good to go, gave me words of strength, and then helped the doctors and nurses get me into my post partum recovery room.
Post partum, Tress was willing to stay awake with me from 1:55 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. when the endorphines finally wore off and I was able to get some sleep. Through that whole time she was helping get to the bathroom, getting extra pillows when I needed them, and she was willing to just sit and talk with me while I snuggled my newborn baby. During my post partum visits after I got home, she even offered to do a load of laundry. I couldn't have asked for a better doula. She has become one of my closest friends.

When Tress and I met for the first time, I was about half way through my pregnancy with my second child. One of her first questions for me was, “what are your goals in childbirth?” My answer was “to be less afraid than I was last time.”
During the months leading up to Molly’s birth, we met to talk about how the pregnancy was going, to talk through any concerns or questions I had, and really just to build our relationship.
There were a number of epiphanies during those visits, based on information Tress shared with me about how pregnancy and childbirth and women’s bodies work. The details fade, but he takeaway was that I could ask her anything – from the technical to the soulful – and she would share her wealth of knowledge and wisdom, often finding and addressing kernels of my anxiety or fear.
For instance, when it was time to come up with some visualizations and mantras that I felt would work for me during childbirth, we landed on flowers opening and closing and the idea that the pain was not stronger than me, but that it was, in fact, me. Of course I was “strong enough” to have a less fearful labor because the pain was not something outside of me being done to me.
The point is, by listening and applying her vast experience, understanding and compassion to what she heard me saying, Tress equipped me with information and ideas that helped me trust birth, and trust her. I was not afraid during labor and delivery with Molly, and she was right next to me the whole time, energizing, encouraging and bringing me back to my hope and my strength. It was the most empowering thing I’ve ever experienced, and Tress’s expert care was invaluable.
When I first found out my husband and I were expecting, I did not plan on having a doula. I wasn't even 100% sure what a doula was or did. My husband was the one to inform me and I thought it would be nice to have the extra support and encouragement. I got more than I ever expected.
Tress turned out to be an amazing doula! I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. She stood strong by my side through two long false labors and saw me through 42 hours of the real deal. She not only gave me wonderful support, both physically and emotionally but she was there for my husband as well.
Tress really went above and beyond the call of duty as a doula. We are so happy she not only shared in the wondrous journey of our daughters birth but helped guide us through it.
She is not only a doula but now forever a part of our family.
