Selina was our night nurse with my daughter Mavis. She was a godsend for me during a time that was beyond stressful and scary due to a family cancer diagnosis layered on top of a newborn. She quickly became a member of our family. She was punctual, attentive, flexible, and extended a helping hand with laundry and bottle cleaning. She also offered advice and solutions when asked, which was extremely helpful for me as a first time Mom. She coordinated schedules with the other night nurses without being asked, creating a calendar, and ensuring I always had coverage when needed. She is also an expert in car seat fitting which has saved me multiple times. I highly recommend Selina as a doula.
Selina was such a big help to us as a night doula when we brought home our twins. It was obvious that she loves babies and she treated our son and daughter with attentiveness and care. She took the time to reach out to me in between our scheduled evenings to ask how I was doing, and was instrumental in helping us find a lactation consultant who could do an in-home visit (the next day!) when I needed assistance with breastfeeding. She was also very positive and encouraging to us as new parents. Selina was flexible and communicative, and allowed us to structure our visits in the way that best suited our family. Our only regret is that we could not keep her longer!
Selina also visited our home prior to delivery to perform a car seat evaluation, and she was knowledgable and thorough in checking our setup and providing education. We enthusiastically recommend her services!
Selina provided my wife and I an extremely excellent and satisfying doula experience! She was a great listener, well versed, knowledgeable, and pro-active every step of the way. From the pre-birth interview and meet-and-greets, all the way through the birth and post-partum visits, Selina was fully invested in helping us have the best birth experience possible. It was obvious from the get-go that she truly cared about us and making things as easy as possible. She displaned a keen awareness of tact during the process - not ever pushing too hard but also knew when and how to speak up and volunteer information or advice. If you are reading this review look no further than Selina!
My husband and I are so glad we decided to work with Selina! She was a calming and reassuring presence from our first meeting to our last postpartum check-in. I would describe her as organized, confident, soothing and, most importantly, helpful in whatever way we needed her to be. Selina helped us prepare for labor by talking through our choices and offering suggestions and advice. When I went into labor, Selina helped in exactly the way we wanted her to. She let my husband be my primary coach but was there with me the whole time to offer massage and encouragement. She even held my leg in the air for hours while I pushed in a side-lying position. When our baby was born, Selina helped clean up, helped me with breastfeeding, and made us feel very taken care of. We were able to have the planned homebirth we wanted in part thanks to Selina. She's worth her weight in gold! This was our first baby and if we decide to have another, we would definitely want Selina to be there again.
Selina was a great help from beginning to end. She met with us a couple times before the birth to ask me about my birth plan and the give us pointers on techniques that would help me thru labor. At the birth, she came prepared with coconut oil which she and my husband used for massaging my back area. Selina was very supportive and helped keep my focused during the hard parts of labor. She had ideas about different positions that might help speed labor along and overall, I was very happy with her as a doula.
i am so thankful for having Selina as my Doula . I could not have imagined hoping through my 25 hour labor without her by my side . My original birthing plan included a home birth, but had a non-emergent transfer during labor. While I labored at home Selina helped me get through each contraction and helped me find strength when I felt I was at my weakest moments. Making the decrision to be transferred to the hospital to complete my labor was not an easy decision to make, but Selina helped me understand that it was okay and to not be so hard on myself. At the hospital she was by my side the whole time. I can honestly say that it was Selina I wanted as my primary support through labor, she was who I felt most comfortable with . MY husband was in the room the whole time, but it was Selina that I needed the most. I dreaded each time a new contraction came, but I managed to make it through each one with Selina helping me with my breathing. I can honestly say there were many moments thughout my labor where I was ready to throw the towel in and give up, but Selina cheered me on and helped me dig deep inside for strength to keep going. My labor did not go as I originally planned, but it turned out to be perfect and today I have this amazing son to remind me of that each day. I will forever be thankful for Selina and cannot wait to see what my next birth will be like with her by my side.
