I sought out Renee before I was even out of
my first trimester. I knew I wanted a doula for my second child. being in the military and far away from any family, Renee was always there for me. My second pregnancy was much more painful than my first. I was so thankful that Renee helped me any time of day or night. When the day finally came to deliver... I called Renee late in the night. She was such a huge support to my husband and I! She was such an advocate for me and my baby too. I had such an amazing burning experience. I had planned an unmedicated birth, but I eventually begged for an epidural. I felt awful for
giving into the pain. However, renee comforted me, telling me how amazing I did bringing a healthy baby into the world. She told me that everyone experiences pain differently and that its doesn't make me any less of a woman or weak, which is how I was feeling. After talking to her, I felt so much better. Also, the placenta pills are legit! I was in such a state
pure bliss! Thank you forever Renee
Renee was a Godsend. My son was an emergency c section, and I assumed my daughter would be a scheduled one. After starting to research Vbacs and speaking to a midwife friend (at 32 weeks!), we started interviewing doulas and hired Renee. She was wonderful! She helped us prepare for labor and delievery, had us borrow books and movies to help us prepare, and was a very calming, supportive presence in the delivery room. I will strongly recommend hiring a doula to anyone looking to attempt a Vbac, and if she lives anywhere near me I will definitely recommend Renee! She not only became our doula, she became a friend.
Our doula experience was unconventional to say the least, as my husband and I didn’t even consider a doula until I was 41 weeks, 3 days pregnant. I was connected with Renee via a friend of a friend after refusing a scheduled induction. From the moment I first spoke with her, I knew she was our doula…she was warm, genuine, and easy to connect with; however, I also sensed she’d have no qualms about pushing me to my limits—or reminding me to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of—when the big day came. I’d already endured one tremendously long labor that ended in an emergency cesarean section; I didn’t want that to happen again.
The day we were scheduled to first meet Renee in-person, I woke up knowing that I’d be going into labor. That morning, I texted Renee to let her know she may want to pack for a birth before she left home for Redlands. Luckily, she did. Before her doula group meeting adjourned, I’d already texted her to let her know we were heading to the hospital and that she should meet us there instead of the coffee shop. Our first meeting with our doula-to-be was in the delivery room…and it was perfect! Renee seemed to know instinctively exactly what I needed, and less than two hours later, my son was born—naturally via VBAC.
Calling Renee and taking a chance in hiring her before I’d ever even met her in person was absolutely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There’s no doubt in my mind that her expertise led to one of the fastest VBAC births—or births in general, going from 3 cm to delivery in under 45 minutes—the maternity ward staff had ever seen. Should we decide to have another child, Renee will definitely be there!! She’s absolutely wonderful, and I honestly can’t envision having another baby without her there.
I was so blessed to have met Renee when I was searching for a placenta specialist during my second pregnancy! I had my heart set on encapsulation this time around, but was worried about where I would find someone who could do this and how much it would cost. From the moment I met Renee I liked her immediately. She was very understanding and provided excellent info and resources on placenta usage and offered very reasonable pricing. She did an AWESOME job ensuring that everything was in place with the hospital and that we were prepared with everything we needed to care for the placenta until she received it. She also had all the professional paperwork for both of our safety and my peace of mind) and was prompt in communicating with my doula on the day I went into labor. In addition to capsules, I chose to also do the optional fruit smoothie with a tiny piece of raw placenta, which was so refreshing right after labor. (The tiny piece did not alter the flavor of the fruit smoothie at all and I am convinced it helped greatly with providing energy and jump-starting milk production - which came in 24 hours after labor!) Renee takes great pride in the placenta work and you can tell it is a labor of love for her. She even gives a take home keepsake cord and beautiful laminated placenta art. I noticed feeling wonderful and energetic long after delivery (no meds) which I partly attribute to placenta consumption! I experienced much less bleeding and pain this time, milk was plentiful and my emotional state was much more stable than even I had anticipated following delivery. Overall 100% different and better than my first birth experience - I did not regret taking better care of my placenta this time, it is very healing emotionally and physically. I would highly recommend Renee's services to anyone, as both a placenta specialist and a doula!
