I never even knew what a doula was before I decided to hire Amanda, and now I would not recommend having a baby without one! I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Amanda! She provided me and my husband with the emotional support we needed during such a stressful experience! She was able to explain my options to me in lay terms and make suggestions throughout the entire labor and delivery. Amanda is extremely knowledgeable, supportive and kind. She has a calm demeanor and a soothing voice that was able to provide me with the comfort I needed during labor. I would highly recommend Amanda to anyone looking for a doula!
There are truly not enough good things I can say on Amanda's behalf. My husband is deployed and this is my first child. Her presence was so calming and encouraging throughout the entire labor process and she was completely available for questions beforehand. If she wasn't there, I would have recieved an epidural or pain medication of some kind (which I desperately wanted to avoid). Because of her encouragement and knowledge, I was able to go through the labor process quickly and medication-free. She was a constant source of encouragement, support, and wisdom.
My time spent with Amanda was absolutely amazing! She was so wonderful and hands on while I was in labor. Even in our pregnancy meetings she was so helpful and well educated. She is soft spoken but so full of love. My labor lasted a lot longer than expected yet Amanda stayed by my side for 3 days!!! I was her priority and she made that very clear. I always felt cared for, safe and loved while dealing with her. Anything I needed, even just a glass of water, she was there. I love how educated she is as well because it took some stress off my plate knowing I was dealing with someone that knew what they were doing. She knew my pressure points, talked to me during contractions and focused on keeping me calm. She had another doula in training helping her and asked my permission for her joining us too. I really loved having the extra help.. it made me feel like I was loved and cared for even more. My birth team was so wonderful and truly made a huge difference in my labor and delivery journey. Amanda went above and beyond to be by my side. Originally I planned for a home birth but reaching my 42 week count, and having my labor digress I decided to go to the hospital and Amanda was so supportive of whatever made me happy. If I could do this again I’d 100% have Amanda by my side. I wouldn’t have been able to stay as strong in labor without her help
It’s been three weeks since the birth of my son and we are still raving about our amazing doula, Amanda. She was truly such an amazing support before, during and after my labor. I honestly don’t think I would have had the vbac I so much wanted if it wasn’t because of her! Amanda was by my side during the entire labor process. It was very comforting to have a knowledgeable advocate by my side. She cheered me on, calmed my nerves and gave me the confidence I needed to “push” through. Thank you so much Amanda!!
She was excellent, very attentive and made sure my birth plan was followed by staff! I loved having a non family member there that I knew to coach me through the birthing process and explain everything medical in a way I could understand. I highly recommend hiring a doula for your birth and Amanda is great because she is experienced and confident.
My daughter was born about 7 weeks ago and Amanda was our lovely doula. She was wonderful! Amanda is compassionate and empathetic but also very straightforward and thorough when it came to answering any questions I had. It really felt like having an old friend or big sister along for my pregnancy and labor/delivery. I trusted her judgment completely and really felt safe with her ongoing guidance. She was such a helpful advocate and source of strength and support - particularly in the delivery room! I cannot recommend Amanda enough and I'm so grateful that I got to experience the biggest moment of my life with her in my corner. Thank you for everything, Amanda!
Amanda- Thank you for swooping into my life during such a crazy period (my sister's wedding weekend and a sick husband) ...you were able to be so flexible from caring for our four month old and playing with our sassy two year old while always looking out for my needs!! You are such a calm and gentle presence with excellent insight into postpartum care. You were always one step a head of the game in anticipation of what needed to be done!! Thank you for your kindness and professionalism. Hope to reconnect some day.
Amanda provided such amazing support for our birth experience. Her calm presence was valuable both before, during and after I gave birth to my son. Amanda was reliable, and great at communicating with us throughout the process. It was very important to me to try to deliver naturally, and Amanda had great ideas to help my birth experience went as close to what I imagined as possible. I really felt like I had a friend meet me at the hospital. Can’t thank you enough Amanda!
We worked with Amanda for the birth of our first baby and I’m so glad we made this decision - I can only highly recommend Amanda as a doula! She’s a very calm and pleasant person with whom we felt an immediate connection. Her personality and experience were a perfect match for our delivery experience - it gave me peace of mind knowing that we had her as an ally in the delivery room and it made my husband feel so much more useful because he knew what to do and how to support me. The natural pain relief the two of them were able to provide through massaging, etc. was above and beyond my expectations and enabled me to have the unmedicated birth experience I was hoping for. Amanda was also very easy to communicate with during the days leading up to and following the delivery, and her support and encouragement through calls, text messages and visits were of tremendous value to both of us. Thank you Divinity Doulas!
When I first met Amanda I felt a great connection. She’s friendly, easy to talk to and just has a great energy about her. The more we talked the more I appreciated her energy and genuine love of being a Doula. Amanda and I met a few times prior to birth and she was very receptive to my birth wishes. She was available for me whenever I needed and I never felt like I was a bother to her. My husband was overseas during my labor and she was my rock. When labor was tougher than I anticipated she helped me understand my options and supported my decisions to deviate from my original birth wish list. I am so happy that I had Amanda there with me and I don’t think I would have had such a successful and amazing delivery story if it weren’t for her. I would recommend Amanda to anyone and will definitely be contacting her for any future births!
I highly recommend Amanda as a birth doula! After my first experience with a natural birth (without a doula) left me scared and scarred, I knew I needed someone with experience and knowledge and a calm presence who could get me through to the end. Amanda was just that. She provided support to myself and my husband, bringing out new techniques to get me through each hurdle. At the same time, she was so patient with the pace of the labor, letting me take my time, but gently encouraging me when necessary. I honestly don't know how I could have done this labor without her, and I'm so grateful to her for giving me the birth experience that I wanted. It was also such a help for my husband to have relief from time to time, and they worked really well together to still give me the support I needed. If you are looking for a calm, knowledgeable presence to help support you and your partner through labor, Amanda is the perfect doula for you.
Amanda was wonderful! She was not only physically present but also mentally present with me the entire time. She was attentive to what I needed, especially during contractions and helped ake the birthing process a better one. She was proactive and so helpful. I would never hesitate to hire her again!!
My husband and I loved having Amanda at our daughters birth. We liked having her there to advocate for us and explain what was going on and what things meant. I loved having her there because she was able to calm me down when I couldn’t.
I am definitely telling my friends about her!!
Amanda was incredible and the best support I could have asked for. She even brought essential oils and gave me a foot massage after 6 hours of walking to get labor started. Her calm presence totally helped me stay calm and steer away from my fear and anxiety. Even months after delivery she was so responsive to any questions. HIGHLY recommend Amanda.
Amanda was a great help, and very needed during my birth and Post partum experience. She was very peaceful and calming for my husband and I during the entire labor process. She was exactly what we needed so I could labor in a quiet environment at home before we transferred to our hospital, which was our birthing plan. She was Also a great help in educating my husband with techniques that he would not have known to use otherwise. I was able to have the natural birth that I really wanted, and I have her to thank for that, also recovery was so much easier with her help. She was also great during our post partum Visit. She was very helpful and understanding with my breast feeding struggles and helped me with what she knew. I also highly recommend the placenta encapsulation if you are wanting that service she did an amazing job. Over all my husband and I were very pleased and very happy that we were matched with Amanda. We highly recommend her if you are looking for a very calming and relaxing birth experience. Thank you again Amanda Purser.

Amanda served as a volunteer doula for my girlfriend Anjali's labor at Best Start Birth Center. The labor lasted over 40 hours and eventually we had to go to the hospital for a C-Section but Amanda was Anjali's rock throughout the process. I think the only time she ever left her side was to go to the ladies room! We are humbled and amazed by her generosity, especially considering we did not really have enough money to pay for a doula at the time, and we can't recommend her highly enough. Prospetive clients, please free to call or email me if you'd like to a reference!
There are not enough words to describe how wonderful Amanda was as my Doula. My husband and I could not have birthed our son in the way that we did if she was not by our side. I prepared as much as I could to have the natural labor and birth that I desired but the intensity of it all was all consuming and a bit scary for me at times. Amanda supported me, empowered me, comforted me, and her calm reassuring presence was everything my husband and I needed, especially when things got tough. Amanda set the tone right when she arrived with dim lights, candles, essential oils, and music. These were all the things that I wanted, but in the moment, could not have handled myself. Amanda carries herself in a very professional way and communicates and works with the hospital staff beautifully. She educated me and gave me gentle reminders of my labor and birth wishes and gave me the strength I needed to achieve them. Amanda was perfect and my husband and I are forever grateful that she was there for us the day we birthed our first child. I could not have done it without her by my side.
Amanda was the calming presence I needed for my labor and delivery. She knew when to step out of the room, and how to push me gently. I never felt like she was "just doing her job" she wanted to be there. I can't say enough good things. Her style was perfect for me. I was so vulnerable and letting her into my "birthing" and most tender moments of my world was done flawlessly and with such grace on her end. The midwifes were equally as wonderful, but having Amanda there let them do their job and monitoring me physically while Amanda's job was to be with Michael and I emotionally. For me she was perfect because I don't like people in my face and I'm very private. Having a doula was important because I felt detached from my mind and body at certain times, Amanda was able to help me make sense of what was going on. If you are looking for a calm presence to let all your fears funnel through she is perfect. Labor was a marathon and the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. But the midwifes and Amanda were like the gears on my bike. I did what was natural for me; though I couldn't tell you how I knew it was natural...my body just took over. I moved around from bed to tub, back and forth with the help of Amanda and the midwifes. It was important for me to keep moving. I knew I needed to move, but sometimes I was so tired, I would forget. Amanda would say after a contraction "are you ready to move" as a gentle reminder. Then a few contractions would pass, she would remind me again and spontaneously I would move and everyone would follow and support me. Intuition was a huge thing and when I gave into that instead of the pain, that was when things got moving and my anxiety let up. There is so many things to the birth, and so many feelings that I never knew existed until after doing this. Having Amanda there made the experience that much more positive. I recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.
Amanda was absolutely amazing! I was keeping in touch with Amanda during the early stages of labor for my wife and she was very responsive. As soon as we told her that we wanted her to come, she left right away. Her timing getting to the hospital was perfect as the contractions were really starting to intensify for my wife.
Amanda instantly stepped in and began massaging my wife to help her deal with the contractions. My wife said once Amanda started massaging, the pain from the contractions was cut in HALF!
During the entire time Amanda was there, she was beyond helpful in so many different ways and really helped keep us on track and follow our birth plan as best as we could given the circumstances. Without her, I feel like the entire labor would have gone so differently and we would have been very upset at the end. She was beyond helpful and I have no idea how we could have gone through it without her.
My wife and I HIGHLY recommend Amanda! She may not have a ton of time in the industry so far, but with her skill set and how she was from our experience, you would have thought she has been doing this all her life!
i had a grusling and intense 25 hour labor. Thanks to Amanda I didn't use an epidural or need pitocin I had a lot of back pain. Amanda's massages got me through the pain. During the active labor pain, Amanda's soothing voice and calm demeanor helped me focus on breathing. Amanda provided my husband clear and explicit instructions during the entire process and made us both more comfortable. The labor and delivery day is stressful. Amanda was crucial is helping us handle all the stress and pain. She was worth every penny. As a first time mom, I didn't know what to expect, I'm so glad Amanda was in the hospital room with us. She also provided us with different techniques and positions to ease the pain. If you're looking for a doula, I HIGHLY recommend Amanda Purser. Trust me when I say you'll be glad you've got her in the room with you.
