My husband and I immediately connected with Lauren after having phone calls with several prospective doulas. We were first time parents, pregnant with TWINS, and had no idea where to start! Her kind and warmhearted personality immediately put us at ease, and we knew she was going to provide the best support to us. She offered some great recommendations for birthing classes to help us feel better prepared as well. She helped grow my confidence in carrying out our birth plan, and when I went into labor she and my husband were amazing in coaching me and helping me to safely deliver both babies. She brought her camera to our birth, and captured some very sweet moments that we will treasure. Her postpartum support was also amazing – there were some complications during birth, and she was wonderful in helping me to process what had happened and validate everything I was feeling. I highly recommend having Lauren by your side as you go through this beautiful journey of pregnancy, birth, and newborn care!
We found Lauren through a midwife. Her gentle presence resonated with both my husband and myself. She proved to be a skilled supporter in home birth and hospital birth. I started out at home with a planned home birth and ended up in the hospital (long birth – long story). Lauren provided practical and emotional support through the 14 hours I was at home. I kept thinking, “She must have magic hands!” as she soothed and massaged me. During pushing she provided invaluable guidance that helped me push effectively. And then she took gorgeous photos of our first hour together – so many shots that I wasn’t even aware of.
When my son had trouble nursing because of lip and tongue-ties and I was struggling with my milk supply and feeling overwhelmed, Lauren offered to help me find a postpartum doula. Through her connections in the doula community I had the support of two excellent postpartum doulas for a couple of months. Those doulas helped me work on my milk supply, find donor milk, learn about newborn care and assist me at home and at appointments (motherhood is a BIG life change!).
For me, the biggest gift of having a doula for the birth was having a witness journey along with me through such a monumental rite of passage. My birth didn’t go at all as planned. When Lauren came over for the postpartum debriefing it was such a relief to process the experience with her (in a way my husband just wasn’t able to). It was especially helpful since she is a birth worker she could place my experience in perspective. I needed that so much. Since then she has dialogued with me when I’ve needed to revisit the birth via email, which has been wonderful. A year later on my son’s first birthday she emailed me to congratulate me on the birth and check in with how I was doing. She has been an invaluable support!
Hiring Lauren was one of the best decisions I made for the birth!
When I got pregnant with my son Ryker I knew I wanted to have a natural birth, and I wanted a Doula to help me with the process. I am so happy I found Lauren. She was so attentive and caring when I went into labour. She made me feel safe, and assured me that everything that I was feeling was okay. I truly beleive if I did not have her I may have had a C section. My labour lasted for 24 hours and Lauren took care of me in the hospital and made sure I understood everything the nurses said or offered to me for pain relife. She was great at calmy explaining the pros and cons to all choices avalible. We also had Lauren photograph my labour and birth. The pictures are beautiful and Im so happy she captured our special day. She was also great for my postpartum visit. I ws able to share all my feelings and emotions with her. She made me feel like I was talking to a best friend or family member. I liked Lauren so much that I recommended her to a friend, who is now using her as a Doula, and is about to have her baby any day now! I highly recommend her.
From the moment my husband and I met Lauren we knew we wanted her to be a part of the birth of our daughter Francesca. She was the perfect addition to our birth team. Lauren was a calming force that kept Adam and I connected throughout the entire process. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. The support and encouragement I felt from Lauren from our meetings to the delivery enabled me to end up having the courage to deliver Francesca naturally just the way I wanted too. Her presence was constant but never invasive, and it enabled my husband and I to connect and share in the most beautiful experience of our lives. I plan on having Lauren join us at all of our future births if she can, can't imagine delivering our future children without her.
When we first met Lauren, we instantly clicked. She made us feel comfortable and we knew we wanted Lauren to be our doula from the first time we sat down with her. Lauren is so knowledgeable about the birth process. I loved the way she answered my many questions with so much detail, backed up by research and facts. She also had great recommendations for natural birth classes. I really appreciated how Lauren made an effort to include my husband and make him feel prepared for his special role in this process. Thanks to Lauren, our minds were eased and we felt ready to have our baby girl soon. I was past my due date when it came time to have our baby. In the days before I went in to labor, my doctor wanted to induce me, however this was not according to my birth plan and I had reservations. Lauren was so helpful in educating me to communicate with my doctor. She calmed my nerves about being overdue and made me feel confident and able to stick with my plan. On the day of the birth, she was so calming and nurturing to me and my husband. Her presence gave me so much confidence and security. She reminded us of the tools we discussed for pain management and constantly reassured me that I could do it naturally like we had wanted! Thanks to this reassurance, I did it, and we had our baby girl just an hour and a half after we got to the hospital. I am so thankful for how calm, yet empowering Lauren’s presence was in that moment. Lauren was also our wonderful birth photographer. She texted me a sneak peek of some pictures soon after she got home in the middle of the night!. She continually checked in and continues to do so to this day as not only a birth coach, but a friend. During her postpartum visit, she was again so helpful and nurturing with my recovery and loved on my baby girl and I. I will absolutely have Lauren by my side when it comes time for our next baby and am so grateful to have had Lauren make my experience as a first time mom so great.
I had the pleasure of having Lauren at the birth of my son in May 2015. She was AMAZING! Undoubtedly one of the best decisions we made was to hire a doula! I had heard from everyone who had had a doula that it was the best thing they did, so I knew it would be great but until I met with Lauren I didn't fully understand the benefit. She first off took the time to explain really what a doula does and how they support not only you, but also your partner.
On the day that I was in labor she was completely available, fielding all my questions while I labored at home (side note: she was willing to come over but we decided we were ok on our own), and was quick to meet us at the hospital. Something I didn't realize was that you don't have someone from the hospital by your side at all times, so it was an extra comfort knowing I had her to help guide me along. She also does a check up after the fact to see how you and the babe are fairing at home.
Lauren was knowledgeable, calming and the exact presence I needed to get through my labor. I've recommended her to several since, and plan on using her again for my next delivery!
Lauren was the perfect choice for our doula! Seeing as this was our first child, we wanted someone who could help us navigate through this new experience and to support us with the natural the childbirth that we hoped to have. That person was Lauren and she was great. She was not only extremely knowledgable and helped answer the many questions that we had, but she was also kind with a great sensibilty in her explainations and suggestions.
To me, a great doula is extremely knowledgeable, but is also someone who you enjoy working with and is a comfortable presence. During my labor, she was there when we needed her to be, but still allowed my husband and I to focus on eachtother and have a great bonding experience. She was a very kind and calming presence in the room, was a great resource when we had questions, and she made an already wonderful experience that much better.
She is just a very caring person and is passionate about what she does. I would absolutely recommend her!
If I were to do it over again... I would not change a thing, and one of the most important aspects of that includes having Lauren by my side! I decided to not use meds, and when telling Lauren this she recommended the Bradley Method. I took the course as she suggested, and that paired with herself was the best choice I could have ever made. She was a huge mental, emotional, and physical support that was so completely necessary. I cannot say enough as to just how important and how much it mattered that she was there. My labor was not getting started on its own after my water broke and she knew exactly what to do even though the hospital staff was pressing meds. Once we got labor started she refreshed our memory and walked us through what was going to happen and as it was happening. She was so calm through the whole process and it was so easy to trust in her and the direction she was giving. She was the one who got cold wet towels to cool me down when I was getting hot, who pushed the hair out of my face, who told me what muscles were tense and that needed to relax, the communicator between myself and the hospital staff. Her reassuring knowledge was so important, she was able to translate all the medical terminology we didn’t understand. These are all things that might not seem so important, and to be completely honest, until I was in the moment I was very skeptical if she was actually going to be necessary. She was such a huge factor as to why I was able to labor and deliver my child all natural. I believe doulas are very impotent; but Lauren, the person she is, her trusting, caring, supporting, and nurturing nature, was key. When the time comes for baby number two, Lauren will be there, because I wouldn’t want to do it without her by my side! Lauren is an amazing doula and her labor story photography is more than worth it!! I fully and wholeheartedly recommend Lauren!
I highly recommend Lauren as your doula. Because of her I was able to have the birth I wanted - a vaginal delivery after previously having a c-section (VBACK) and all natural without the epidural.
I decided to have a doula for my second birth because I had an unplanned c-section with my first child. My daughter was in a frank breech position and I found out about it when I arrived at my hospital to give birth. My first doctor didn’t test me properly and I was not aware of the breech position. I found out later from my new OB, Dr. Suzanne B. Gilberg-Lenz, MD that I could’ve had a natural delivery as the frank breech is the only breech position to deliver vaginally (butt first). Since I felt tricked into having a C-section and had a hard time with recovery, I wanted to make sure it was not going to happen again. With the support of my doctor and Lauren I was able to have VBACK. So yes, it’s possible to have VBACK but you have to make sure to find a doctor that supports that; however, there are only a few doctors in LA that can do that.
Lauren was guiding me over the phone during the beginning stages of my labor. She came to my house as soon as they became heavier and soon after that we drove to my hospital, Cedar-Sinai. She was with me all throughout the night until I gave birth the next day in the afternoon. She was a doula for me as well as my husband. He was even able to take a nap at night. She supported every wish I had. She also was very helpful during the pushing stage. My doctor and all the nurses were very impressed with her and said how great she was. Thank you Lauren from the bottom of my heart.
My experience with Lauren was great. She was very informative, easy to talk to, patient as I had to think out load to sort my feeligs, and sweet in uncomfortable moments. Especially a in labor she helped me feel at ease with whatever happened.
She was patient and kind. I've always been worried of having a doula. Someone besides my husband or a nurse who I have to be honest with and let into some intimate moments. But Lairen was very relaxed and comfortable and helped put me at ease also. Her assurance and knowledge was a wonderful asset. She offered her support through repeatedly reminding me that the things she promised and explained and that the plans we made together werent going to change without my say. And helped me take controll of my labor.
I would definately suggest any friend have Lauren to be a part of their birthing experience.
