I met Kathryn at a motherhood/baby event, and I was immediately put at ease with her calm and peaceful nature.   I was apprehensive about birth, especially with what I thought to be the indecency of it all, which is why I hired a Doula. My husband was worried that a Doula might take his place during labour. I am happy to report that was not the case! One of the most substantial benefits was how well Kathryn coached my husband to be a great birth partner. The quality of her birth experience was much greater than had she not been involved.   I felt that she prepared us well for our birth and newborn experience. She was also a very knowledgeable resource in our early days with the twins.

Since the first day I met Kathryn she has been such a friendly, easy going and helpful person during a hectic time with a high needs baby. Kathryn is young but don't let that fool you. Her maturity shines through the moment you meet her and on top of that her ability to care for my newborn and her instincts were spot on everytime. One of our biggest challenges is the car ride and Kathryn helped support me by sitting in the back and entertaining the baby. In addition at our home she helped offer tips on breastfeeding, sleep, general care and she knows all about cloth diapers! She was able to get our little one to sleep on many occasions which gave me a break to eat or shower. Kathryn is an exceptional help and I wish I had her around full time. I would recommend Kathryn for post partum hekp for any aged child. She is also willing to help around the house and is an impeccable laundry folder. Thumbs up big time for Kathryn. She has been a life saver so far!

Kathryn is simply an amazing human being, and I would recommend her as a doula to anyone. When I had my children, I could have only dreamed of having someone like her support me through their births and beyond. Kathryn has the perfect blend of ingredients: strength, wisdom, empathy, tact, knowledge, dedication, authenticity, and a fantastic sense of humour. Over the years, my children and I have been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of some of Kathryn’s nurturing genius, and I can attest to the fact that she is not only a great personal support and a true talent in the care of babies and children, she also understands the many needs and dynamics of families of all kinds. If you are thinking about getting a doula, you will not regret getting to know this lovely, gifted woman.

Kathryn Poirier was a fabulous support to me for the home birth of my third child, in July 2014. She was considerate, respectful and responsive to my needs at all times, even when I wasn't even sure myself what my needs were. She adapted to the moment at every stage of the process, from pre-natal visits and getting to know each other, to the final moments of the birth, when she intuitively shifted her focus from assisting me directly to acting as extra hands for the midwives. As a logistical support she was professional, well prepared for everything that could have been asked of her, efficient and calm. I felt her supportive presence as a steady reassurance that someone was not only there to help me with contractions, but also quietly managing logistic in the background.
As a post partum doula, her presence was invaluable in managing the early weeks of life with three children and my own post-partum recovery.
Thanks to the support lent by Kathryn to our home birth, my partner, my children and I all had the most positive birth experience we could have hoped for. She is a warm, responsive, responsible and open-minded person who would be easily able to adapt her attentions to meet the needs of any expectant mother, their families, and the full spectrum of birthing environments.
