I would highly recommend Serena as a doula for anyone wanting to have an autonomous, empowered, beautiful experience.

Serena was full of helpful advice throughout my pregnancy and really helped build my confidence in myself as a powerful birthing women. I wanted a home birth but living rurally and being Rh negative I was discouraged to be so far from a hospital. Serena helped me think through my options in a serious way, never ignoring tough topics but always leaving me feeling bigger than before.
I ended up having a very long labour and Serena re-harnessed my energy when I felt like I had no more to give. I remember her rubbing my back and pushing my hips and thinking how perfect the pressure was and it was exactly what I needed. When I looked at her she just smiled knowingly! Without Serena, I think I would have felt way less in control when I did eventually end up being a hospital transfer. With her help, I transitioned from my ideal situation to one definitely less than ideal but still feeling very focussed, cared for, and advocated with. After my son was born, Serena stayed with our new family until we received a positive settling. Serena was a truly in-dispensable in my post-operative care with the ability to focus individual attention and personal connection midwives are often too busy to provide. She really helped me gain back my body confidence and work through some heavy emotional trauma that sometimes can accompany an undesired c-section. Not to mention helping with new mommy basics like breast feeding, swaddling, and all the questions that come, she was able to field them confidently.
Serena's style of care really fit with our family as we were determined to have full autonomy in our birthing experience, but still wanted skilled guidance and loving care. Her skill as a true wise women is without doubt in my mind and I am forever thankful to have her as part of our special experience.

Serena is a natural. I am so grateful she came along. Delivering my daughter, who is now 6 years old, was so easy and natural. No drama, no fuss. Things felt into place naturally. Having opted for a home birth, all I wanted was peace and quiet and the room to be dark.

Serena was besides me. Patient, waiting for things to unfold, so respectful of the moment and space. We did not interact much during the birthing process but having her besides me, I knew I was safe and taking care of. Nothing could go wrong, Serena has this beautiful, calming energy.

When my midwife phoned a colleague for help and she could not come, Serena assisted her and even though we were one person short everything was just fine.

I would rehire Serena in a heartbeat, she has been a friend and an inspiration ever since. I admire her for the work she does in providing information and support to expecting moms.
