I highly recommend Michal to anyone who wants to try a natural birth. She is professional, knowledgeable, and supportive from prelabor to postpartum. Michal was always courteous and patient whenever I reached out to her and clear in her explanations. Teaching the Bradley Method Course (which I attended) and having had 4 natural births herself, she is very familiar with the process and is well equipped for the job. Michal is full of ideas and knows when to step in and make suggestions and when to give you your space. I found her to be very validating and encouraging and felt reassured just by her presence. Michal is honest and true to her word. It is because of her that I had the most beautiful experience of my life, giving birth to my daughter, becoming a mother. Michal was exactly what I needed to support me through my decision to try natural and I can honestly say, I could not have done my home birth without her.
My experience was fantastic with Michal. She has attended my last two births - she greatly enhanced our experience. My husband and I felt comfortable having Michal as a sounding board. And she was amazing with massage! That might have been my favorite part. Sometimes the contractions were harder than I would've liked and she helped minimize the pain through pain relieving techniques.
She was completely on call and there to answer any questions I had prior to the birth. Both times she came to our house once the contractions started coming quicker and stayed with me until we were ready to go to the hospital.
I give Michal a big thank you and recommend her highly.
Being a long time Yoga and Pilates teacher, as well as student, I am very tuned into my needs. She was 1 step ahead....We couldn't have had the natural birth we envisioned without Michal. I labored almost 5 days and she helped us stay the course by keeping us informed and supported.
My husband and I lean towards "natural" in our everyday life. I had heard about Bradley Classes for birth from both my Naturapath & Midwife. They sugegsted we take a Bradley course and Michal was the teacher.
Being a Bradley teacher she had tremendous knowledge. We wanted to get all the appropriate support we thought we would need, so we knew we wanted a doula. The hospital in which we selected had a free doula program. But when I found out, Michal, our Bradley teacher was a doula, I knew that was the person I wanted support from, even if there was a free alternative.
Michal supports minimal intervention, which is what my husband and I wanted in our ideal situation. But Michal is also very knowledgeable not only about the options, but the affects of the various interventions. For example, a seemingly benign cervical check for the amount of dialation of the cervix, has meaningful affects on what happens in labor.
The other factors in which we really liked Michal is she is an amazing advocate. She took the time to get to know us and she was able to guide us in our birth plan as well as, interface with the hospital staff. Our midwife, was not on call that night, so the midwife that was on call delivered our little girl, but Michal helped us navigate that unpredictable piece beautifully. My husband and I were able to focus on the labor and not the personnel. Also, Michal seemed to have read my mind and knew what my body needed and was supportive not only of me, but my husband.
We highly recommend Michal Kovacs as a doula/Bradley teacher.
Michal was great over the phone answering questions and giving suggestions for my births. While I was in labor, she literally spent hours rubbing my feet and making me comfortable to help the baby come down. She was so caring and interested in my well being that it was like having my sister at my birth. Thanks Michal!
Michal was truly incredible! She was with us every step of the way and was usually a step ahead of us, knowing just what I needed before I even knew it. Her calm, caring manner coupled with her broad knowledge turned my birthing experience into something amazing. We are so thankful that she was there to work with us, it would not have been the same without her! Thank you so much, Michal!
Michal was such a great help! My labor (for my 3rd child) went pretty quickly. By the time I realized I was actually in labor, after experiencing pre-labor pains for a while, we basically had to rush to the hospital, where I delivered about 20 minutes after walking in the door. Michal was proactive, caring, efficient, and most importabtly- skilled at reading where I was holding in my labor progress. She could tell we were "near the end" and if it weren't for her I'm sure the quick labor would have been overwhelming and a bigger shock to my system than it was! I loved her pre and post labor care. She really takes an interest in her clients and cares about our well-being. I felt that I could contact her at any time with questions. Her answers were always spot on and coming from a very knowledgable place- she really knows her stuff! She was so reliable and thoughtful. Thanks Michal!
