Julie was amazing!!! I will only use her again as my doula. She always responded to my texts right away when I had questions and she helped me so much with my birthing plan. I really enjoyed out coffee meetings where she would continually reassure me that I was strong enough to have this baby naturally. I'm an anxious person naturally and she really helped to calm my nerves all the way to labor and even more so during labor. This was my first baby so I had no-idea what to expect. The night before I went into labor I actually was having so much pain (I late realized this was Braxton hicks) that I called her and she came over just to help teach me and my husband ways to manage through the night. The next evening i actually went into labor and fast! I was contracting every 5 minutes within the first hour of my labor and they were lasting 60 seconds within 30 minutes. She came over right away and didn't question if it was real labor or not. She helped while in the bathtub and helped my husband to calm down too. She helped me to know when we needed to go to the hospital which again was within the next hour and rode with us and held my hand the entire way to hospital. She was an advocate for me at the hospital and spoke when I could not. She was there emotional support my husband needed as I was screaming the entire time to give me the epidural which I told my husband if I start screaming for it don't give it to me so it was really hard for him and she helped him so much to feel right about hat he was doing. She was such an active part of my super fast and intense 5hr labor that I could not have done it without her. She held my hand or leg or foot or any other part of my body the whole time and I'm sure I squeezed her hand to death. She coached me to breath through the pushing and was just amazing! I will be using her again for my next child!!

We are most grateful for all her care and support during the birth, it was a chalenging birth and her love and encouragment was instrumental

She was also wonderful for my hubby as she gave him the support he needed during the whole process

As she was there for our baby's arrival she was our natural choice for a postpartum doula

She is amazing with babies and super helpful and supportive for mom

I would highly recommend Julie to everyone !!

As the doula for my son's birth in December 2016, Julie was an easy choice for my husband and I. Her calm voice and nature as well as positive aura, effortlessly eased any tensions we had.

Julie was also always willing to be available to us, answering any questions or concerns we had throughout our pregnancy. I cannot thank her enough for aiding us and contributing to our fairytale birth experience.

My experience with Julie was incredible! I recently had twins, and had quite a few complications as well as PPD/PPA. Some friends got together and hired Julie for me as a baby gift and in hopes to help me with transition of caring for them by myself versus having my husband there to help all day. She came over the first day that my husband went back to work. I knew right away that I could trust her, she was not a stranger, and there was never any anxiety in my mind. She asked me our routine with the twins, their schedule, and then sent me to take a nap (YES!). I never heard a peep from the babies the entire time she was here. Each of the three days Julie was here, she did baby laundry, stuffed cloth diapers, washed and sanitized bottles, cleaned my kitchen, even vacuumed. One of the days, I had a lady from an organization come to do a home visit since the twins were premature, and Julie helped with the babies, interacted with the lady and overall helped me feel comfortable with this person. Julie also validated how I was feeling while dealing with my PPD/PPA. She and I talked as if we had been friends for years! While my little nuggets are only a few months old, my husband and I already decided that should we have any more children down the road, we will definitely hire Julie both for labor and delivery as well as post partum. Thank you Julie!!

We requested Julie's postpartum doula services.  She delivered on all that her bio suggested.  We were provided with a high level of understanding, compassion, and wisdom from someone who had been there, personally and indirectly by being at the bedside of many women through the birthing process.  Julie also brought resources (breastfeeding, infant massage, social groups) to help with our journey as new parents.  I felt safe in sharing my needs, which she made her priorities.  Julie was exactly who my daughter and I needed in our home to support us through this new chapter.

Julie was an invaluable member of my team during pregnancy, labor and delivery! Within the first two minutes of our initial consultation, I knew she was the right fit for me and my family. She answered my questions and offered suggestions with kindness and confidence, encouraging me to do my own research on issues I was unsure about, and providing resources for me to maximize my health during the pregnancy. Since it was my first child, I needed lots of reassurance about the process and my choice for a low-intervention birth, and I definitely felt more empowered to make my own choices after spending time with her!

I called her when I was admitted to the hospital at 5 a.m., and when I called her later to ask her to come, she came right over even though she had just spent the entire night with another mom and baby. Labor was hard, like most labors are, but Julie seemed to know intuitively what I needed to get through each contraction, what labor position would be the most helpful, and when I needed to shut my eyes for a few minutes. My husband was also very thankful for her, since I couldn't really tell him what I needed (didn't even know what I needed). I think it would have been a much scarier and more frustrating process for both of us if Julie hadn't been there. She encouraged my husband take a lunch break, and he was back in time for baby to come out. Julie was also very helpful with breastfeeding support. Since neither baby nor I had ever done it before, I'm really glad she was there to help him get latched, and he nursed off an on for the first hour after birth.

There are so many other good things I want to say, but I'm running out of space! In short, Julie was my physical and emotional rock through the process, and I'm so grateful to her for being present in my pregnancy and those sacred moments of childbirth. I'd love to have her with me for all future births if circumstances allow!

Julie was a great blessing to me and our family. We had some extra complications with breastfeeding and tongue tie that we weren't expecting of course and she was such a calm presence and help through these hard times. She was there to offer emotional support, help for the baby, laundry and clean up around the house.  She also brought me much needed food and drink. We thank God for her and the team of support we had to get us to where we are today. So thankful for her and others like her. It really takes a village to raise a child.

My husband and I are very thankful that we had Julie by our side for labor and delivery. She had a wealth of knowledge regarding the matter and was extremely professional. She was an integral person to have by my side. She was great at guiding the experience and providing ways to help me get through the contractions that would best benefit myself and the baby. She helped us learn how to discuss our birth plan with the nurses and doctors as well as understand the risks and benefits behind some of the decisions we made. She helped me understand exactly where I was in terms of labor and whether or not it was the right time to go to the hospital. Julie was there when I needed her by phone and in person and after we went to the hospital she was the only one who was able to really help me get through labor. We can't imagine going through another birth without her by our side to help calm, guide, soothe, and even manage the family I had allowed in the room when I needed her to. She even came by to check up on us a few days after we got back from the hospital to ensure everything was going well. We feel very blessed to have Julie be a part of our journey and would happily ask her to assist another birth. We would and will highly recommend her to anyone who may be looking for a doula.

My son was born in January of 2015 with a Congenital Heart Defect(CHD). We did not know until after he was born that he had the condition, but I was rushed to an emergeny cesarean because his heat rate was dropping rappidly during labor. I recently gave birth to our second child, a girl, in October and I knew right away during pregnancy that I wanted something different this time around. During my pregnancy, I decided to try for a VBAC but knew I would have to travel 2 or more hours out of town to a hospital that would allow me to. When I became connected on Facebook with the ICAN of Phoneix page, I started hearing a lot about doulas and seeing how commonly they were used. I started searching for doulas, Julie was recommended to me and it was a match made in heaven. Her son was born with a CHD as well, she loves Jesus, and she has a very similar personality to my mom which made me comfortable with her from the moment we met. She was my rock through the end of pregnancy, my impatience with going WAY ovedue, and my struggle with the (somewhat forced by my doctor) decision to be induced. She answered every panicked call and discouraged text with grace and patience and encouragement. I was crushed to learn that she would be unable to attend my birth because she was with another mom who had gone into spontaneous labor just hours before I was scheduled to be induced. She was just as crushed as I was, but was quick to send her backup doula to take care of me during labor and delivery. She explained my needs and desires to her backup, and even briefed her on my previous traumatic birth so she could best handle my fragile emotions about labor and delivery.

Even though Julie was unable to assist me with my birth, I would recommend her HIGHLY to anyone. She was such a blessing to me through pregnancy and I don't know what I would have done without her.

Thank you Julie!!! <3 <3

Julie was an amazing doula to work with! It was my first pregnancy and she gave me so much valuable information and support leading up to my induction. She is so kind and friendly, working with her felt like working with an extension of my own mom! I highly recommend Julie if you're looking for a doula!

Julie was nothing less than extraordinary!!  My wife and I just had our first child and went into the birthing experience fairly educated after attending a number of classes, reading books, and discussing other peoples' experiences.  Having Julie by our side during the actually delivery process was priceless.  With all of the emotions and physical requirements required, it's easy to discard or overlook the priorities you may have established going into labor/delivery.  Julie was a rock for us that provided a deep level of comfort that made us feel we were always making the correct decisions for us.  Her dedication was unquestionable as she was with us for over twenty hours through our process.  She knew exactly when to be heavily involved and exactly when to give my wife and myself the approporiate space to enjoy the experience.

I would hands down recommend Julie without hesitation.  She is fantastic!  Thanks again Julie!!!

The first time I met Julie I felt her warmth and compassion.  As a first time mother and participant in hypnobirthing my husband and I hired Julie to make sure our birthing goals and desires were being met at the hospital. Not only did Julie do that for us, she went above and beyond our expectations.  I labored for a total of 22 hours and ended up having an emergency c-section. Julie did not leave our side. She was with us the entire time. When the operation was complete and our son was born, she was waiting for us in the post op room. We leaned on her for guidance throughout the labor and she was monumental in our decision making process. My husband and I were truly blessed to have met her and have her by our side during this roller coaster of a ride.

When Julie and I first met we both felt we'd be a good fit for each other. My needs were unique because I was expecting my 2ND child while my husband was deployed without any other local support. She helped ease my mind with plan after plan after plan if any of them didn't work. What I really needed from Julie  was emotional support and she did just that. I was scared of delivering without my husband and Julie made that ok while respecting my feelings. She has been a great addition to my birth team and I don't feel I could have remained calm without her. She always validated my feelings and because I knew she was there for me I believe she was the reason my birth went so smoothly. She was a joy to have in my life during such a difficult time with our family separated and I would absolutely hire her again. She knows how to support military families.

Julie is amazing! She has the calming nature of a mother while being incredibly knowledgeable about childbirth and everything that goes with it. Unfortunately, I had an emergency c-section before going into labor, so I did not get to have the pleasure of Julie's expertise, but she was so supportive before and after my son's birth. I hope to have a VBAC for my next child and will definitely hire Julie to coach me through it!

Our entire experience with Julie was absolutely perfect. Having just recently moved to Arizona, and not knowing anyone, Julie welcomed us and made us feel like family throughout my entire pregnancy. Julie always answered any questions we had and was very knowedgeable. My birth experience was everything I had hoped it to be and I thank Julie for a large portion of that. She was confident and comforting all at the same time. She made my husband feel comfortable during the bitrth experience and was there to help guide him in helping me. Julie is an amazing doula, she has absolutely found her calling in life.

Our experience with Julie was great! From the first day we met, we knew that she was the best doula to help with the delivery of our first child.  We have no family in the state, so we were looking for someone to be there for the both of us during this new experience.  Julie was not only warm and extremely knowledgeable prior to labor, but helped my husband and I remain calm, informed, and comfortable during birth.  I honestly believe that I would not have had an unmedicated birth had it not been for Julie supporting us the whole way.  Additionally, my OBGYN, who has had some negative experiences with doulas in the past, told us that she was pleased to work with Julie during labor and even got her business card afterwards. I'm so happy to say that we made the right choice going with Julie.  Thank you so much for all of your help!

As a new mom, I did not know what to expect for my delivery. I was grateful to have Julie as a part of my birthing team to provide guidance and support along the way. Her calm demeanor is exactly what I was looking for in a doula. Julie was great throughout the whole labor and delivery process and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a kind person to be there with them along the way.

Im writing this 10 months after I had my fourth baby to say that I cannot imagine how we got through the chaos of having another person without Julie! Most people think that hiring a doula is only for first time moms! Wrong! Julie went way beyond for us in helping to care for our 2 yr old daughter while I was in the hospital and after I came home, so we could all adjust to life with a baby again. She helped me so I could prepare meals for after baby, without having to worry about entertaining my toddler 100 percent of the time. Julie gave me the peace of mind of being prepared. We had no family or friends to help us and we were living in a new place. I was simply overwhelmed. Julie brought a calm to our storm, and I cannot imagine how I could have juggled everything without her help. Even when you have been pregnant before, you still have a myriad of questions about what is happening with your body. Julie was always willing to talk with me, something that just doesn't happen in a Drs office. I can say for certain I would hire Julie again in the likely event we had a fifth baby, because what helps mom helps the whole family!!!

Our experience with Julie was great. We initially interviewed 3 Doulas and ultimately went with Julie due her to calm demeanor and experience both as a Doula and as a mother of I believe FIVE children. It was helpful at first to talk through a birthing plan, discuss the pross and cons of circumcision for our son Colin, and to ask her questions we had as first time parents, including the birth itself and breast feeding tips after coming home from the hospital.

Once my wife went into labor, our plans changed where we decided to deviate from our inital plan of giving a natural birth without medication or an epidural to "we need the epidural now to cope with the pain!" As a doula, Julie work with our change of plans and waiting in the hospital lobby for nearly 10 HOURS while my wife napped and waited for the baby to descend more. During that time, she worked through me via text to make sure we were asking the right questions of the doctors and helping my wife and I understand what was going on at each step of the way.

When it was time to push, she came in and took pictures of the birth and our first moments together with our son. She also was closely watching Mom to make sure she was doing well post-partum. I would definitely recommend Julie for her experience and knowledge as a Doula and for her patience, understanding, and flexibility in quickly changing situations. Thanks, Julie!

Julie was everything I needed in a doula. This was my third time around, and I knew that for my intense (and short) births I needed someone particularly strong and calming. I'm not talkative, just very loud, and I knew I needed people on my birth team who understood rapid birth. From the moment Julie walked in my door I trusted her. She bolstered my confidence in trusting myself, and was able to walk through my fears and emotions with facing another rapid birth. When I had prodromal labor she was there with a rebozo and prayer, and after birth she even did my dishes. Such a blessing all around. Thank you Julie!

When my wife and I found out that we were having a child she told me that she wanted to hire a doula in order to assist along the way to provide insight and answer questions as they come up. My initial thought was that we wouldn't necessarily need one insofar that people have been having children for thousands of years without an issue but if she wants to have one we will get one. I held this basic set of beliefes until our first meeting with Julie. During the meeting I found myself asking as many if not more questions than my wife as the discussion progressed. Julie has a deep knowledge base of pregnancy and birth and thus can provide you with what is considered "the norm". While the pregnancy progresses and during the eventual birth, this becomes increasingly important because it is very easy to get over concerned with things that are trivial. Additionally within her broad experience she can point out things that are outside of the norm and can provide insight as to what should or shouldn't be done in these cases (which essentially happened in our case). Having her with us while our son was born was a very vaulable thing and she was able to give guidance and advice to me as a husband to support my wife and also just to me so I dont overreact to minor complications. So birth goes fine (mind you she stayed up with my wife the whole time like full soldier mode). Afterward she hung out for a few hours to help with lactation etc. Since the birth (2 weeks ago), she has been available to answer any questions or concerns we have with the baby.

All in all I have this to say about her: she is pragmatic, affectionate, accurate and available. 10/10.

Best of luck my friends

Julie was fantastic. We were comfortable with her the moment we met. She helped my husband and I prepare for my upcoming labor. She answered every question I had and had valuable resources for prepping for delivery. During delivery she helped me relax and guided my husband on how to ease any discomfort. I could not have had a natural labor and delivery without her knowledge and skills. She is wonderful. Thank you.

I have been blessed with having Julie as a Doula for both of my births. After the first birth experience with her I knew I would want her supporting me for every birth from now on! The second time I found out I was pregnant I contacted Julie before I even told my husband that I was pregnant because I wanted to be sure she wasn't already booked for my due date. She is so helpful, understand her clients needs and wishes, she has so much knowledge and experience. She enabled my husband and I to birth with confidence. She is very nurturing in her care for you. She is very pleasant and easy going. She really adds to a peaceful birth atmosphere and experience.  I highly recommend her to anyone wanting a Doula. She is fabulous.

Julie was so wonderful to work with. Being first time parents, my husband and I were not entirely sure how labor and delivery would go (or was supposed to go). We just knew that we wanted an experienced coach with us. After meeting Julie, I knew she was exactly who I wanted on this journey with us.
Julie was able to answer all of our questions and give us a very good understanding of how everything would happen. Not only was she able to answer us based on her personal experiences, she provided us with a number of resources to reference and websites to find additional information on.
As luck would have it, the day after she met with us and gave us all this great information, we were headed to the hospital to have our baby. Julie met us at the hospital in the middle of the night to help me through the labor. Her being there, allowed my husband to rest and take breaks as needed so he was ready to come time for delivery. She was able to help me labor and just talk to me as the day progressed. She was there for every step along the way and was respectful of all of our decisions.
I would not hesitate to invite Julie into our delivery room again and would highly recommend her to anyone interested in having a doula present for their labor and delivery. Not only was Julie a huge help and a wealth of knowledge, I would consider her a friend now too.

My husband and I were introduced to Julia from a mutual friend of mine and could not be more thrilled with our experience.

She was an incredible guide during pregnancy when we had last minute questions. and her help preparing us for birth and during labor and delivery couldn't be replaced.

This is our first child so we didn't have any expectations or idea of what birth would be like and Julie helped us wade through that part of the process. We talked about our birth fears, expectations, and the stories we'd heard about birth. Her house visits prepared us for labor and her referral for a birth class really helped get us acquainted with birth options.

We would recommend Julie's pregnancy, birth, and postpartum guidance to anyone. We look forward to working with her during future pregnancies.

From the moment I met Julie, I knew she was the doula for us. She's personable, calm, confident, and knowledgable. I'm so glad we hired her! Even with two false alarms from prodromal labor, she remained positive and upbeat, which kept my spirits up. When labor finally began and we encountered an unusually packed hospital requiring us to labor in the waiting room, Julie helped us remain focused, used her doula tricks to keep labor progressing, and knew just what to say to get us into a room for delivery before it was too late. Julie has an excellent rapport with the hospital staff & midwives. She didn't miss a beat! I truly felt supported by Julie from the moment we hired her and I know she's still going to be a resource for me weeks and months after birth. Thanks Julie!!

Julie came to my rescue when my son came to join the world two weeks ago. Our original Doula had to be with her family due to extenuating circumstances so she recommended I get in touch with Julie who was anticipating my call. She could tell by my voice over the phone (we'd never spoken before) that I was nearing true labor contractions. Not only was she at our hospital before me but she was waiting in line for me to get us checked in faster! From the moment I saw her she gave me the most comforting hug (I was a first time mom) and was quick to offer any comfort and support. My water broke just after arriving at the hospital so her coaching was beyond helpful. Julie was the best support I could have had besides my significant other. I got to see her today and my little boy melted in her arms not a single cry. This woman is sincerely the best and we couldn't have been more blessed to share the birth of our firstborn with her. Had it not been for her support and presence I don't think I would have had my sweet boy in 3 hours! She knows her stuff! We love you Julie! Thank you!

Julie Papia is a fantastic doula! I've been blessed to have her at both of my births. Having a natural child birth was always a dream of mine and I could not have done it without a doula like Julie Papia. Someone who listens to my needs and knows just what to do and say at the right moments. I have type 1 diabetes and am high risk for pregnancy. Without her knowledge and encouragement I would not have had the confidence to pursue my dream of a natural child birth. She not only was there for me during labor to help manage the pain but she prepared me mentally before through her child birth class recommendation and meetings with me. She also recommended my Obstetrician/Midwife, who was a perfect fit for my needs. Because I am high risk I was scheduled for an induction. Julie supported my choice of natural induction methods and after recommending a brisk walk and nice long relaxing bubble bath my labor started. I called Julie once my labor pain had progressed and she met my husband and I at the hospital prepared with what I would call her "box of miracles". She even stopped by my house and brought me some personal items I had forgotten. She was an invaluable part of my birthing team. She used natural calming scents that helped me focus on one thing - having my baby. The scents she used drowned out the distractions and noises so I could relax and prepare my mind for the pain I was to endure. Julie also massaged my back and feet and was an integral part as I transitioned to the third stage of labor. Her presence and encouraging words she whispered in my ear calmed me and steadied my breaths. Her presence created a calming and relaxing environment during my entire labor. As my baby girl entered the world and we met for the first time, Julie captured priceless photos of those beautiful miraculous moments. I would not have accomplished my dream of a natural child birth or had such a wonderful birthing experience without her.

It is my honor to write another endorsement of Julie Papia. She was the doula for our first born and there was no hesitation on having her join us in the birth of our daughter. We knew from the beginning that we would have a wonderful experience based on our previous birth, yet we were still amazed at her care and attention.

Julie created such a peaceful and safe environment that during transition everyone in the birthing room was singing. That is correct, everyone. Christina (my wife), myself, Julie, and our midwife sang while Julie rubbed Christina’s back in the tub. What an experience! In a hospital no less.

Husbands, Julie is a must have. She makes the environment such that you can relish and enjoy this wonderful time with your wife. She will guide you and your spouse through the journey. You will literally leave the hospital saying, “I can’t imagine this went so well!”

Julia is a wonderful person and an excellent doula.  For months we had been planning to have a night nurse come and help us when we returned home from the hospital.  However, at the last minute the night nurse bailed.  Julia saved the day! She was willing to come help us out on such short notice without ever having met us.  She showed up on time every night and took such wonderful care of our baby girl.  We are first time parents and Julia shared with us some wonderful tips. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring individual for their new baby.

"worth her weight in gold" ... As my husband put it. When I first told my husband I wanted a doula he didn't understand why and said it would be a waste of money, but knowing how important it was to me, he agreed. I was referred to Julie from another doula who I was referred to, but was busy around the expected arrival of my baby. I met with Julie and knew it would be A great fit. She's warm, bubbly, and really made me feel comfortable. She put together a perfect birth plan for me, let me borrow reading material, and when the day finally came, she responded right way when I texted her "I think my water broke". She rubbed my feet with oils, rubbed my back, walked the halls with me while I labored and when I got sent home, briefly, she came to my home and labored with me! I know for 100% that without Julie I would not have been able to fufill my wants of having a natural birth. julie reminded me to breathe, helped me change positions, held a foot when it was time to push, and even captured those precious pictures when my husband and I met our little boy for the first time. Now, my husband agrees that for every child we have in the future, Julie will be a part of it. Julie stepped in when my husband didn't know how. Having her there took away any potential negative exchanges that could have happened between my husband and I - how I was in pain and how he didn't know how to help. Julie knew it all. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER. We will for sure be using her in the future!

Julie is everything you could ask for in a doula. I hired her towards the end of my pregnancy per a friends recommendation, and I'm so glad I did! She is so supportive and calming during a time when you feel so vulnerable and have no idea what to expect. She knows exactly what to do and where to massage to help ease labor pains. I was communicating with her from the time my water broke at 2:30 am when I wasn't even sure that was what was happening. I didn't know when I should have her come to the hospital but she knew just by my messages that it was time to come. She came at the perfect time and stayed with me the whole time as my advocate, it was so comforting having her to explain things to me and reasons why things were being done. I truly think having her as my doula was the best decision I made, and would recommend her to anyone that asks.

I could not recommend a beter doula than Julie! I reached out to Julie late in my pregnancy and was still able to meet with her a handful of times before our baby girl was born. In those first home visits I already felt comfortable and confident with her abilities to help us achieve the birth we wanted. While the birth was a wild ride, Julie was with us every step of the way and trully was my confidence when I needed it most. She spent the 2 days worth of labor with us at the hospital and even slept in the waiting room! She is passionate about what she does and we cannot thank her enough for her time, services and guidance in bringing our girl into the world. Thank you Julie!! - The Blackburns

I can't express how helpful Julie Papia was at my daughter's birth. When I first found out I was pregnant, I had a lot of anxiety about giving birth for the first time, so a friend suggested that I hire a doula. I wasnt really sure what a doula did, but decided to get one anyway since I was so scared of childbirth. We met a few times before I went into labor, and Julie was always very warm, engaging, and supportive. At my 40-week appt, I was induced because of high blood pressure, and had to start dealing with contractions that night. I was totally unprepared and didn't have any of my belongings with me. I was adamant about giving birth naturally so I would be able to move around. Because of my high blood pressure, however, my doctor would not let me walk to encourage dilation or even take a shower. Feeling frustrated and helpless, I got an epidural. I remember feeling very upset and dissapointed in myself. I had told Julie to hold off on coming because I though douls were only present for the actual birthing process. She ofcourse knew better and showed up right when I needed her. Even with all my bossy family members present, she commanded attention and took charge. She eased my feelings of disappointment, listened to what I wanted, and made sure I had everything I needed. When I was taking too long dilating, she suggested different positions and asked the nurses for extra pillow. She even gave me an aromatherapy massage; I became so relaxed I feel asleep! During my nap, I dilated from 5cm to 10cm within an hr and Isabelle came shortly after with minimal issues. Having her around was invaluable for this amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience; Julie gave me love and support when I needed it the most and was able to anticipate my needs. I would recommend Julie to anyone who wants a supportive, educated birth partner. I am so greatful I had Julie Papia as my doula and my only regret is not getting her to the hospital sooner! Hire this woman!

We hired Julie as a postpartum doula after my birth during my first week postpartum, on a couple of days when my husband had to go in to work for a few hours. It was so wonderful! My 2 year old LOVED Julie. She took her to the park, which allowed me to focus on the baby and recovery.

Julie kept us fed and hydrated, and allowed me to rest. She also helped by doing housework that I was not capable of at the time. Plus she ironed my husband's shirts - possibly my least favirite chore! :) We were very pleased with the service she provided.

I also LOVED having my birth doula as a postpartum doula. There is nothing like having someone who was actively there with you through the intensity of labor to talk with! It was so helpful to hear her perspective of the birth, as well as have an experienced ear to listen to my perception of it. It was empowering to hear that I was just as strong from where she stood as I had felt in my own body. As with my birth, the warm, maternal presence was so amazing to have at such a raw and vulnerable moment. She was easy to be around and I really felt like I made an amazing friend. I cannot recommend her enough.

I had the most incredible homebirth, and Julie was such a big part of that. I wasn't sure if I was truly in labor, and so she helped me figure out that I indeed was, and once I recognized that, my body began to progress in the labor. She arrived as I was beginning to have to work to cope throughout contractions, and helped me become calm and focus.

My mom was there when she arrived and said she could see a night and day difference, instantly. Julie helped me conserve energy, stay hydrated, actively open my pelvis, and rock & breathe through contractions. I had learned about warrior birthers and zen birthers, and had been a very loud warrior birther in my previous birth, and had been headed down that same path before Julie arrived. Her presence and support helped me find tranquility and peace to birth the way that I hoped to, but honestly didn't believe I could.

Julie also was great at helping me to communicate with my midwife and husband who were readying the bedroom, while I labored in my daughter's bathroom. When I wanted to hear my baby's heart or needed to know the progress on the birth pool, she aided in communication without taking away my power as my own advocate.

The experience has completely altered my beliefs about birth. Based upon my first birth, I believed that labor is hard and painful and because of that, it is traumatic simply by the nature of the event. While I experienced pain this time, my body was able to birth easily and effectively. It was calm, peaceful and absolutely perfect. Minutes after delivering my placenta I was talking about how amazing the experience was.

I am confident that this was because I was not carrying fear, because I had such faith in my birth team. I had carefully chosen Julie to be a part of that team, and it paid off. I needed a warm, maternal figure, and she was exactly that. If I were to have another baby, I would absolutely hire Julie again!

After interviewing several potentail doulas, I chose Julie and was so glad because she was a was a great fit with to meet the goals I had for my birth experience.  She was very easy to talk to and I immediately felt comfortable around her.  She was very compassionate and really understood my needs and what I wanted to get out of my birth.  Plus, having had several children of her own, she has a wealth of first-hand experience in addition to her doula qualifications.  She was an incredible support during labor, and fit in effortlessly without interfering with the normal duties of the doctors and nurses.  She was also great at not letting the labor support she provided me get in the way of the support that my husband provided to me as well.  Her knowledge was essential in helping me to manage pain and, ultimately, have the natural, unmedicated birth that I wanted.  It was an amazing experience and honestly, I attribute so much of that success to the support I received from Julie during my labor.  I would highly recommend her to anyone seekiing out a compassionate and knowledgable doula.

I had the best experience with Julie and can't imagine what it would've been like without her! From the start, she was warm and caring and listened to what we wanted for our ideal birth. She always made herself available to answer any questions I had and even shared information on classes as well as books that helped during my pregnancy! She is such gentle and genuine person, I loved working with her and know I will again with my next baby!

Julie's voice stood out in the delivery room. I'm sure everyone was saying something but it was all kind of a blur until she spoke. I don't think I could have delivered unmedicated without her support. She mothered the mother, exactly what I needed!

When I thought of giving birth I had always imagined a traditional, natural birth like my mother experienced with me. The Dr putting me on her tummy immediately and her reaching down to feel my slimy body and touch my head full of hair. I had always listened to that story with longing. Unfortunately my first birth was not that at all. I had done no research on childbirth because of 3 prior miscarriages I had experienced and was just happy I carried my daughter to term.

I ended up having a c-section with an amazing doctor and hospital staff to help my beautiful daughter enter this world. We were thrilled. When we found out we were going to welcome a new baby to our family a year and a half later we were so excited. I really wanted to try for a V bac for this baby but had no idea where to start. My sister mentioned a Doula and I went searching.

I found Julie Papia 10 weeks before my due date. The day we met I knew she as perfect. Her suggestions on nutrition, physical fitness and diet was exactly the kind of info I was looking for. She was available to answer any questions at any time. Julie also made sure I asked my Dr. the questions she couldn't answer. The day of my birth I was in contact with her all day until my contractions were close together. We went to the hospital and Julie was amazing from the second we got there. I was in labor for 4 hours and pushed for 5 minutes with no pain medication. The Dr put my baby boy on my belly and I reached down and felt his slimy body and his full head of hair.

I have no doubt that without Julie I would have never been as confident in my body as I was. I felt so safe and secure to listen to what my body was telling me to do. I was so encouraged by Julie at every progression it really helped me keep going with no pain medication. It was exactly what I wanted. A successful V bac. A traditional, natural, beautiful birth.

Thank you Julie :)

I am so grateful that my husband and I were able to have Julie at our vbac of our second son to support us. She was able to keep both of us calm and remind us of things that were normal during the experience.  She did an amazing job helping me stay comfortable by massaging my back and making sure I had everything I needed.

Christina and I were blessed with our first child a 16 months ago. Due to her Type 1 Diabetes, Christina was deemed "at risk" and therefore was induced at 39 weeks. The doctors and specialists seemed rather good at delivering the horror stories and worst case scenarios which for first time parents was overwhelming. This is where Julie came in.

Julie met with us and helped reaffirm the confidence we needed to have a great delivery. She met with Christina, her mom, and I to understand what our expectations were and what we were feeling about the upcoming delivery of our son. She worked with us to create a birthing plan so that we would be prepared and have a great strategy on the big day.

When the day came she was a strong, calm, presence who eloquently guided Christina and through labor. She provided a variety of techniques that allowed Christina to labor close to 20 hours without the need for drugs.
While people may think the role of a doula may only be for the mother, as a father I can say that her value was immeasurable to me. Because Christina is insulin dependent, it was my responsibility to manage her insulin pump and sugar during labor. Having Julie there allowed me to stay hyper focused on managing that, as well as insuring that the care given by the hospital was what we expected. Over the course there were a few times where discussions with the hospital staff were required in order to protect the environment we wanted and to insure Christina's care. Julie made sure that Christina received the attention needed while I dealt with the issues.

Over all our comfort and care from with the hospital staff was so-so with a few dim and bright shining moments, Julie created and environment that made our first birthing experience wonderful and insured that we have many wonderful memories from the occasion. As such, we cannot imagine having another child without her coaching and encouraging us along the way.

Julia was a fantastic doula.  I was blessed by her so much during my labor.  She was very understanding and was able to suggest several things to help keep me as comfortable as possible.  She was there when I needed her, and was able to figure out what I needed before I needed it.  I would not hesitate to reccomend her to anyone wanting a doula.

I had a wonderful birthing experience and I credit the success of it to the calm demeanor and excellent support I received from my Doula, Julie Papia. I will definitely be requesting her services for my next pregnancy.

I was referred to Julie through a friend and really connected with her. My husband wanted to be very involved in the birthing experience, so we were nervous that a doula would hinder his involvement. But she was great. I felt very comfortable and she picked up on our desires so well! It was our first all natural birthday, so it was good to have support from someone who knew what to expect. She knew when to step in and help and when to give us space. I'm so grateful of her participation on my daughters birth. She genuinely made it special and made me feel like I could handle everything thrown at my and was part of one of the most beautiful days of my life. I think anyone would be lucky to have her attend and be a doula in your child's birth.  She was a the perfect person to have in your corner and be a support for the mommas/ child's interest.
