My wife and I really enjoyed having Nikki Wray as a post-partum doula.  We had our hands full with twins and Nikki really guided us when we needed a lot of help.  Would highly recommend her services to any first time parents who want to lean on an expert to get through the first few weeks.

I did not even know what a doula was before our daughter was born, but am now a firm believer! And I can’t imagine anyone better as a postpartum doula than Nikki. Not only did she help / teach / coach us the way through all things to do with the baby, but also took care of things around the house so as to free up any available time for us. And Nikki is a great person anyway. Absolutely invaluable!

As a new mother of twins, we hired Nikki to help us and educate us on caring for newborns and breast feeding. She was a much greater help than we could have hoped for. She is very kind and supportive with postpartum emotions and is like having a mom for the mom. She would make sure I ate and got showers and rest. She has a lot of knowledge and experience with newborns and twins, and handles two screaming babies wonderfully. Nikki has a great work ethic, she is very communicative, reliable and hard working. She didn't need guidence and just came right in and started working from the first day. If she had free time, she would ask what else she could do to help. She helped me establish a routine with my twins and got me breast feeding like a champ. Because of Nikki, I have confidence and ease in caring for my babies. I highly reccomend her.

Nikki came highly recommended by a good friend and was a life saver in the early weeks after our daughter was born. Like many first-time moms, I had so many questions about taking care of a newborn. Nikki was there to answer them all - from helping get us off to a great start with breastfeeding, to teaching me how to read her cues, among many other things. She was also amazing when it came to taking care of me in those sleep-deprived first few weeks and making sure I have healthy meals and snacks. Even with a house full of family in town, I found my time with her incredibly helpful. Every time she left the house, the nursery was perfectly organized, our fridge was stocked with healthy salads and snacks, and I felt like I has learned a lot about how to help my baby thrive. She's also just a lovely, warm person that puts you immediately at ease. I have already recommended Nikki to all my expecting girlfriends and would encourage all new moms in DC to give her a call. It will be the best money you spend!

I highly recommend Nikki Wray! She started with us when my son was about six weeks old, and I wish I'd found her sooner! I didn't think I needed a post-partum doula until my husband had been back at work for a few weeks and the sleep deprivation started catching up with me. Nikki is a breath of fresh air every time she comes over. She instantly takes charge of the baby, who is always so comfortable in her arms. I'm able take a much-needed nap knowing that my son is in good hands. Nikki not only provides great care for my son, she knows a lot about infant eating and sleeping and is a great sounding board. While my son is sleeping, Nikki takes the initiative to help with lunch preparation, organizing the baby's clothes, and maintaining the diaper changing table -- things that are difficult to do with a newborn at home. We are so thankful for Nikki's help!

With all of our family out of state, Nikki was a godsend – giving us time with our firstborn, helping us with the new baby, taking care of food and dishes and laundry…so much more worth it than I could have imagined. Doctors and midwives kept asking me how I was feeling and seemed skeptical when I said “great!” They thought I should be having at least some depression. I eventually realized I felt unusually well because I had so much help and rarely felt overwhelmed.

Nikki was my postpartum doula after the birth of my twins. She was such a help in so many ways I really am truly thankful for her. From the moment we came home from the hospital she was there. She came in and started helping and doing things immediately. She made sure the twins and I were settled and then started getting us set up in the house - pump set up, diaper changing stations, diaper bag and more. Whenever she was here I knew things would be taken care of to allow me a little time to breathe. Most importantly Nikki taught me. From breast feeding to making and storing bottles to changing diapers and how to get out of the house for walks. She showed me how to do it all. What I liked best is Nikki asked before the birth what my priorities were, what did I want to be sure happened or was a priority etc. and that was her priorities in turn. After a few weeks she was sure to have a conversation with me on my priorities - were they still the same?  Anything new to focus on?  How was it going?  I really appreciated this because taking care of newborns can be overwhelming but she helps you focus on the things that are important to you. Plus Nikki really takes care of the mom too. She brought me water while I pumped, allowed me to nap at others times and made me food. It was awesome!

I have no doubt Nikki's help and guidance assured I'd be successful in caring for my twins. She is indispensable. I recommend her every chance I get!

I'm so happy that I hired Nikki. I can't imagine how much more difficult these first few weeks would have been if it wasn't for her help, guidance, and caring presence. She helped me feel comfortable and capable when learning how to care for my son. From the nursery checklist prior to my baby's birth to the breastfeeding help, her advice was invaluable. She is very reliable and attentive without being overbearing in the slightest. One of the best things about Nikki is how comfortable I felt around her, even from the beginning. She definitely exceeded my expectations!

Nikki has been so helpful to my husband and me and a pleasure to have in our home. I can't say enough positive things about her. From the time we met her, we felt comfortable with her. She quickly familiarized herself with our apartment and our needs. She is knowledgeable, responsible, organized, and knows when to offer an opinion and when to listen. She is able to help with breastfeeding, babywearing, infant development, general concerns about babies/parenting, and more. She is a great baby soother and also a great cook. She is self-sufficient and takes the initiative to do whatever needs to be done around the house (make the bed, pick up, wash dishes). I highly recommend her!

Dear Nikki,

We would like to thank you for all the assistance you provided us during our post natal experience. Your services alleviated many stresses and aggravations from our daily lives. We were grateful for your soft spoken, gentle, honest, and trustworthy demeanor. As a provider, we appreciated your punctuality, cleanliness and excellent organizational skills.

It takes a unique personality to be able relate to clients on an intimate level without being intrusive. You achieved that perfectly with our family. You took such great care of us! We never felt uncomfortable with you around the house. You never interfered with guests and family, just blended right in taking the initiative to get things done...even when I couldn't have said what was needed!

It was always a luxury having you to be able to run errands for me and go grocery shopping. I know we would not have been so well fed without you! Always having the fridge stocked with nutritious, delicious foods allowed me to eat...something that many new moms just don't have the time to do!

I didn't believe that I would be able to trust anyone but family in taking care of our daughter. Not only have you taught us numerous tricks on how to create a serene and relaxing environment, you helped us with bottle feeding, and how to develop a routine that we still use to this day! And of course a special thanks for keeping everything so clean and fresh, minimizing clutter and for the help in organizing the baby's clothes.

All in all, I don't know how we would have done it without you! Looking forward now even more to number two!

Sincerely,

The Albarelli's

Nikki was a huge help to me when my twin boys were born. I was feeling tired and overwhelmed by my new responsibilities and she made sure that I always had enough to eat and brought me snacks and water while I was nursing my boys. She would send me to go and take a shower, nap, or allow me to go for a walk around the block for some fresh air which helped to make me feel re-energized.

Nikki made sure that the boys were latched on properly which can be very difficult with two of them! They were slightly jaundiced when we brought them home so it was very important that they were nursing well right from the beginning. My babies were very sleepy for that first week and Nikki helped me keep them awake for feedings and made sure they were getting enough milk.

Having Nikki to help with the baby care, answer my questions and concerns, take care of the babies laundry (which with twins is a LOT), and leave food cooking in the crock pot when she left was invaluable to us. She even heard me say once in passing that I love having a freshly made bed every day but didn't have time any more, and started making our bed during every shift despite that not being in her job role!

I can't imagine having twins and NOT hiring a postpartum doula, and I highly recommend Nikki."
