We’ve worked with Joyful Journey and Cathy twice now and I can’t say enough wonderful things. Cathy is warm, friendly, and passionate. Prenatal to postnatal, you name it, she’s there for support through all of it. She really takes the time to listen to your wants and needs so she can perfectly tailor your care based on that. She’s also great about offering some of her own insight or things you may not have considered or be aware of. Her post partum care was really a Godsend our second time around. We had a toddler at home and Cathy was a great pair of extra hands to have around at the hospital so my husband could be home with our oldest. I would highly recommend Cathy and her services.
This was my second time having Cathy as my doula. She was absolutely amazing!!! I’m so glad I had her as my doula for a second time. She helped me through my contractions and gave me some tips for distractions since I choose not to have an epidural. Cathy did an amazing job of advocating for me when the doctor wanted me to push and I wasn’t ready. This allowed me to do the pushing on my terms. I had quite a bit of tearing and Cathy held my hand while they attempted to repair me. Unfortunately I needed surgery so I had to be separated from my baby but Cathy stayed with my husband and the baby to make sure everything was ok. Cathy is extremely attentive, passionate, and caring. It’s like having your mother in the room. Everyone needs to have a doula!
I instantly felt comfortable the first time that I met Cathy. I admire her down to earth and naturally easy going personality. She is the perfect balance of gentle reassurance and encouraging empowerment that you'd want in a doula. She is very knowledgable, reliable, patient and kind. I can't say enough good things about Cathy. I wish I had met her earlier in life so I could have had her support at all of my births. If I have any more kids, I will absolutely hire Cathy as my doula.
A Joyful Journey is perfect in every way. I am blessed to have been able to experience their services for 2 of my children. Cathy thought of every detail possible to make each of their arrivals into this world as special as I could have ever imagined them to be. She has a special gift, and I am confident that you will appreciate Cathy and her team the way my family still does.
This was my second birth with Cathy Smith at A Joyful Journey. My Husband and I were so happy to have Cathy back with us. She makes us feel warm and comfortable during a very intimate family time. We laughed and shared stories during our birthing time making us so much more at ease. We are so impressed with Cathy’s knowledge and expertise in her field. She helped us feel confident about our choices to have a home birth and supportled our decisions along the way. It wasn’t an easy decision to make when it came to deciding on a home birth but our journey began before our son was ever concieved and Cathy and our midwife consulted with us prior to starting our journey. She went above and beyond her Doula call of duty for us. During the labor Cathy provided me with whatever I needed. Water, cold compresses, snacks, and helped my husband get rest. I recommend A joyful journey to my local dental patients in the area my coworkers, and family friends. I believe everyone should have a doula!
Cathy is the cream of the crop when it comes to doulas. She has a passion to help, encourage, and educate women through their birthing experience. Her genuine spirit will instantly draw you in and give you such comfort and peace. If you are looking for a doula and want to have the most beautiful experience, look no further. Cathy is the doula for you.
Cathy has a passion for her craft and truly loves each birth and each family she works with. The support she gives mothers before, during and after birth is a relationship that she cherishes. I cannot say enough great things about her as a person and her as a doula. She comes highly recommended!
As a doula for A Joyful Journey I can say what a pleasure it is working with Cathy. She has a kind heart, a fierce work ethic, and complete dedication to her clients. As a local business owner in the community, she really shines in the field of assisting families!
Cathy is a wealth of knowledge on all things birth! You will not be disappointed having her by your side. Her dedication to womens health and families is beyond compare Her calm presence and ablility to bring comfort through your pregnancy, labor and postpartum is remarkable. It is truly her calling to be A part of your journey to becoming a family. I have worked with her for several years and know she is someone who clients just take too- like an old friend. She encapsulated my Placenta after the birth of my youngest and I was very happy with the services.
Cathy is an extremely skilled and devoted doula. Her level of experience, knowledge, and passion makes her well suited for any type of birth or birth place. Cathy provides exceptional support for both mothers and their partners before, during, and after birth. I highly recommend Cathy and her services.
Cathy is by far one of the most genuine people I have met. Her knowledge and professionalism is top notch. She has a beautiful way of explaining things makes you feel wonderful. She has a calling for this and when you first meet with her you will see it right off the bat. She is fierce when it comes to fighting for what you want but has such grace in her heart for all of her customers that turn into friends. Don’t look anywhere else she is the whole package of what you will need for in a Doula. Thank you Cathy for being nothing but amazing.
I worked with Cathy for the birth of my daughter. As a first time mom I was anxious and Cathy worked with me before, during, and after my birth to help me feel more comfortable and confident. I knew I wanted a non-medicated labor and I definitely could not have done it without Cathy’s help and support. With Cathy’s expertise as a doula I was able to do 18 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing completely non-medicated and welcomed my beautiful daughter into the world. Cathy helped me know when I was in active labor and helped me plan my trip to the birth center. She answered all my question before my daughter’s Birth and even helped me decide on a provider and location for her birth. Cathy’s gentle and nurturing attitude was such a comfort to me throughout the whole process. I also worked with Cathy after my daughter was born. She came over and cared for my daughter while simultaneously cooking for me while I took a long hot shower, which I desperately missed doing after my daughter was born. Cathy is a great friend and spent time talking with me after my daughter was born to make sure I was doing okay and taking care of myself. I can not recommend Cathy enough. In my mind she is an essential part of any birth plan and will definitely be my doula for my future pregnancies.
Cathy encapsulated my placenta almost a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be more happy with her services. From the beginning, she was very kind and responsive to my husband and I's questions (as this was our first baby). Upon delivery, Cathy came to pickup the placenta and even showed it to me ( I had a c-section and was unable to see). She returned The capsules to me in the hospital the very next day- which I was so grateful for since I could
Begin taking them right away. I definitely recommend Cathy and the Joyful Journey, I had a great experience.
You will not be disappointed with Cathy! She was our birth assistant for our 9th baby and now we will never have another baby without her. She was very sweet and gentle, patient with our never ending questions, and has a very calming presence. She always seems to be one step ahead, anticipating my needs before even I could. She was very knowledgeable and spent extra time with my husband and kids, answering all their questions and reassuring them. Cathy was such an important part of our birth and we are very grateful for all she did for us. During my labor near the very end I really wanted to give up on my drema of a natural birth. Cathy believed in me enough for the both of us and is the reason I was able to keep going. I can't say enough good things about her and the amazing birth she made possible!
I have known and worked with Cathy for a number of years. She is an amazingly caring and professional doula and genuinely cares about all of her clients. Cathy continually strives to be the best in her field and provide nuturing support to her clients. I highly recommend her to anybody looking for doula services.
Cathy is an amazing doula! For the birth of my first child I wanted as few medical interventions as possible. Of course, the complete opposite of my birth plan ended up happening but Cathy helped walked us through every option and give us time to talk and decide what to do. I just narrowly avoided a c-section and Cathy was supportive the entire way. I think it helps having a doula as your birth advocate and the nurses and my midwife were happy that we did. I can't imagine giving birth without a doula and I would 100% recommend and use Cathy again in the future!
I was planning a home birth with my 3rd child and had just moved away from all the doula's I knew. Someone recommended Cathy and after a very enjoyable interview I was certain she was the one for me (I am a doula in training so had pretty high expectations for the kind of doula I wanted). Our prenatals were so much fun and I really felt like we bonded. I didn't feel I really needed any help with information or even making sure my birth plan was followed. I had already set myself up for success with a great home birth midwife and support team, but I did feel I needed someone to bring comfort and calm to the situation and who would be willing to do anything I asked. I inteded for my husband to do most of my personal support so I asked Cathy to do other things, ie, wash dishes, get water and snacks, fill birth pool excetra. When birthing day came it was a really easy and wonderful experiance. I felt bad for my birth team and a little silly I had invited so many people since I mostly labored alone in my room with my husband, but Cathy did everything I asked and was exactly what I needed. So safe and comforting. I remember at one point we were talking about breaking my water and it was something I really did not want and I remember confiding in her and her affirming that it was best to wait for it to happen naturally. That gave me confidence in my decision and I felt like I had an advocate on my side. Cathy was especially good when it came to massage and counter pressure and I'm so glad I had her there. Even though it was my easiest brith yet, and my husband is a totally competent birth partner, I am so glad I had Cathy by my side, she is a bright, warm light in my memory of this birth. Thanks so much Cathy, I feel as though we also became friends in the process. I would recommend Cathy to anyone. She is way over qualified, since she is also training to be a CNM, which is awesome!!
Being a guy I did not know much about pregnancy/birth or babies. I didn't even know what a Doula was. After finding out my wife was pregnant. We decided to take a Bradley class. My wife she decided that she wanted to have a natural birth with minumal interventions. One of the things that we learned about is the benefits of having a Doula. After seeing all the benefits a Doula provides we hired Cathy to be ours. Cathy was extremely informative and helpful throughout the labor/birthing process. Long story short my wife's labor was long and rough due to some complications which made being in the hospital for several days stressful and tiresome. Cathy advocated and assisted us with making decisions to stick to my wife's birth plan with minumal interventions. With Cathys assistance we are now the proud parents of a healty beautiful little girl! Thanks again Cathy for all you hard work!
I had Cathy as my doula and had her encapsulate my placenta. I had a very rough labor and birth since I was induced and having Cathy there was one of the best things I could have done. She made sure my birth plan was followed, as much as possible in the given situation, communicated well with the nursing staff, and made me feel so much more comfortable especailly during contractions! Because of hiring Cathy as my doula I was able to have an unmedicated birth. Cathy was very comforting and answered so many of questions during the pregnancy. I would have her as my doula again!
I am just going to start by saying Cathy is wonderful. After a terrible labor and delivery with my oldest son, I really wanted my second birth to be much more enjoyable, and I really wanted to VBAC. She was incredibly knowledgeable about things I needed to ask my doctor and we were able to come up with the best possible birth plan that met both my needs emotionally while still being respectful of the doctor. During my labor she was right by my side, making sure I was ok and that any of my wishes or requests were heard. She included my husband who is still amazed at the whole birth process and actually got involved this time around. My postpartum visit we were able to laugh and joke about some of the "funnier" moments during labor and delivery and she just had me feeling at ease. I truly believe the knowledge she gave me during my pregnancy allowed me to stand up and not be bullied into another c-section and i was able to have my VBAC. It was a great experience and I would recomend her to everyone.
When you meet Cathy you will instantly notice her very calm and sweet demeanor. I had Cathy as my midwife assistant and she was very professional as well as down to earth and very caring! She also encapsulated my placenta and gave great instructions about the process and how to take the capsules. During my labor Cathy was such a trooper- held my leg up for almost an hour!!! Cannot wait to use Cathy and the rest of my birth team again For my next pregnancy!!! I highly recommend Cathy to anyone needing or wanting a midwife assistant or doula- she WILL get you through it!!!!
Cathy was absolutely amazing. I started care with my midwife super late and had to choose a doula quick. Cathy was the first doula I called to interview and I knew right away she was the one I wanted. My water broke on a Friday night and by Saturday I got scared (this was my first home birth). Cathy rushed over to my house to bring me peace of mind even though nothing was happening. Sunday night she came back over with my midwife and labor really started to go in full effect this time. cathy was there helping me with every little thing I needed. As I labored in the pool for about three house dealing with intense contractions, my back was killing me with each contraction. everytine she saw a contraction was coming she would rush to my side and put pressure on my back to help with the pain. After birth she was there getting everything cleaned up and put away so my husband and I could enjoy our new baby. The next day she came over to bring me my placenta pills and make sure me and baby were okay. she made sure my baby was latching on and nursing good before she left. I would highly recommend Cathy as a doula and one day soon as a midwife. and if I ever have another child she will be my go to woman!
Hire Cathy. Seriously, you will not regret it. I interviewed 4 other Doulas before deciding to go with Cathy and Andrea of A Joyful Journey. I remember meeting them at Starbucks and instantly felt a great connection with them. I shared that I really wanted my birth experience to be as memorable, enjoyable, and stress-free as my wedding day had been. We met for our prenatal visit and I was reminded again of how grateful I was that they were going to be on my team for my first birth. They both exude a calm confidence and you can tell they do truly love what they do. Cathy was right with me helping me feel confident in my decisions and helping me make it through contractions. There was one point in labor where my midwife wanted me to walk for an hour, but I was very discouraged and just wanted to labor in the tub. She was on my side and encouraged me to listen to my body. She was my cheerleader and constanst support. Without her by my side I know I would have decided to seek out medical intervention (epidural/stadol). But, her support and words in the toughest of times during my labor helped me continue to work through the contractions and in the end I was able to birth my baby girl au naturale. And, I can honestly say that even though the labor was not easy nor pain free, I was able to enjoy it and I look back (8 days later) and have nothing but wonderful memories of the day my daugther was born. We've had one postpartum visit and I'll be sad when I don't have an excuse to see her as often. She is someone who you just want to be friends with. If you're looking for someone to be in your corner, help you achieve a natural birth, and leave you feeling like super woman...Cathy is the doula for you!
Our daughter was born at home as a precipitous birth on 9/27/16. Because we never made it to the hospital on time, Cathy and Andrea’s services were needed post-partum. This was a desire of mine anyway to have more help after our daughter’s arrival since I had a very difficult recovery both physically and mentally after my son’s birth. Choosing Cathy as a Doula and using a Midwife meant I was prepared to do things as natural as possible versus a common hospital birth with many medical interventions. Cathy was always very supportive of this and so much of what she said could happen by doing things more naturally came true. I had a much quicker recovery physically after my daughter and my post-partum blues felt non-existent this time around. I even decided to use Cathy’s placenta encapsulation service, and I am so glad I did. She was also very knowledgeable on which supplements to use to help with energy level and mood too. Whenever I had a question about how my body was recovering or needed breastfeeding support, she was always available to talk. My husband soon after our daughter’s birth had to begin working nights. I was sleep deprived and not feeling confident in doing it all myself with a new born and toddler. Cathy offered her services of spending a night if needed. She made me feel less alone and more confident in my mothering abilities. I am very thankful for these ladies and will be using their services again, but hopefully during labor as well as post-partum!
Cathy helped make my birth experience exactly what I dreamt of. She knew when to step in, how to assist my husband, and when to step back and let us make decisions. She was informative in helping us make educated decisions with how to progress with the labor process. She was available every moment of my 4 day long labor. My husband was skeptical about having a doula in the beginning of my pregnancy but after interacting with Cathy duinfo our second meeting and especially during labor, he said he would use her for every pregnancy and they got along great! She is humerous, yet sensitive! We made a great choice in choosing Cathy to assist with our birth.
Cathy was wonderful and I would recommend her to any needing a doula! Her vast knowledge, calming and supportive words, and of course her infectious personality will make anyone feel comfortable during labor. She has helped me to become successful with nursing after my little one was having difficulties. Thank you again for your help!
We had the pleasure of using Cathy for our placenta encapsulation. We originally scheduled a meeting but I ended up going into labor early. She gave us basic instructions and met my husband at the house to begin the process. She was highly professional and even gave my husband a little placenta lesson :) . When she came back the next day to complete the process, I was home with the baby. She noticed that I was struggling with getting the baby to latch,; being exhausted and flooded with hormones, I was a wreck. You could tell by the way she talked to me, she both understood and genuinely cared. she gave me guidance with getting baby to latch better (a quick fix that the hospital LC didnt even mentioned) and she gave me encouragement. The Calm, gentle, and genuine demeanor Cathy has is almost unbelievable. There is no question we would use her again!
The placenta encapsules were great. I was skeptical of it all, but truly believe thay it had helped my mood and mental health. !
Cathy was such an amazing Doula! She was always there to answer questions in regards to my pregnancy and was right there for me during my labor and delivery. I was able to successfully deliver my baby boy naturally and labor at home for most of it! She was so supportive and I could not imagine doing it without her! I would have her by my side again and would recommend her to anyone!
Cathy was great to work with throughout my pregnancy and labor. However, her support did not end at the birth of my son. She has texted me periodically to see how we have been doing and is also willing to answer any questions that I've had since having my son. She is extremely knowledgable, passionate about what she does, and has a very calming demeanour. I wanted to have a natural childbirth, and Cathy gave me the resources to help prepare me. During labor, she was able to create a calming environment and offer several pain management techniques. I am so glad I made the decision to hire Cathy!
My husband and I had the unique pleasure of having both Cathy and Andrea present on the day of our delivery. We wanted to hire a doula(s) because we felt they could help us navigate thorugh the birth process. We felt their warmth and kindness as they worked with us. Anything we discussed with them we felt no judgment. This was our first and hopefully not our last experience with A Joyful Journey. We got to know both women over the process and felt they make a complimentry dynamic duo. I tell everyone we hired a doula and explain how it made our birth expirience special. We could not thank God enough for bringing these two in our lives. I am forever connected to these two ladies thorugh my birth expierience.
Where to start? My husband and I met Cathy back in 2015 when we were pregnant with our first. We knew we wanted a natural, drug free birth and had done a Bradley class in preparation. When we met Cathy, she was still completing her DONA training and we didn't have high expectations because we knew she didn't have a lot of experience. To our surprise, Cathy swooped in and showed us that she was truly made for helping with births! She comforted me and my husband during labor and provided me with the encouragement I needed to keep pushing through after a very long 48 hours in labor. We achieved our natural birth and walked away vowing to always have Cathy by our side during a child birth. Then in August of 2016, I found out I was pregnant with my second.... Of course Cathy was one of my first calls! Again, we knew we wanted a natural, drug free labor and were sure Cathy would help us achieve that. However, my second birth wasn't nearly as easy as my first and we ran into very discouraging obstacles. Cathy stood by our sides and helped us along. She stood by my side all night and her strength kept me going. Her knowledge helped us make choices that we were unsure of in an effort to get the natural birth we were looking for. If you are looking for someone who will laugh with you, hold your hand, comfort your spouse, guide you along and so much more than look to Cathy! She will work for you and with you, she will advocate for YOUR needs and wants, she will be your light in the dark and scary moments.... Cathy is your Doula!
Cathy is an excellent doula! I was very excited when I found out that I was expecting my first child but also very nervous. My friend told me that I should look into hiring a doula. Cathy gave me some great advice and made the birth easier. She was fantastic at answering all of my questions and was a great advocate! I couldn't imagine not having a doula! I have recommended her to all of my friends who are expecting. Cathy is wonderful and I look forward to working with her again in the future!
having this being my first pregnancy hiring a doula was a no-brainer and Cathy wasmy rock during my pregnancy. She is super knowledgable and made me and my husband feel super comfortable. She was always there for us and answered any and all questions for both of us. At the time of my daughters birth her presence brought us so much comfort. During the times I felt I couldn't go on she kept being strong for me. Her presence and time and knowledge is invaluable. Cathy and andrea have left prints in my heart that will forever be there. I love you ladies
Cathy is a wonderful doula. She is so supportive and knowledgeable. Cathy made the experience of birth so much easier and stress-free. I knew that Cathy would take care of all of my needs. Cathy did an excellent job and I will definitely be calling her for future births. Hopefully, by the next time I have a child, Cathy will be a midwife. I will then have the "best of both worlds."
Thank you Cathy for all of your help, understanding and encouragement. I couldn't have done it without you. We will definitely recommend her to all our friends and I know without a doubt that she will make a fantastic midwife!
Cathy was amazing! I decided I wanted a natural childbirth with my second and I knew that a doula would help me achieve my goal. She was kind, calm, and supportive. She even tended to my husband and checked to make sure he was doing ok. Labor and delivery were intense but she was there to help me relax. She did an amazing job helping keep my mind off of the pain by playing cards and rubbing my back during contractions. She continuously assured me that I can do it! She was truly 110% focused on me and my needs. Even before I deliverd she would text me regularly to see how I was doing. I don't look at her as just a doula, she's more of a friend:)
Cathy was very helpful as a doula. She did everything I asked or wanted and also came prior to pregnancy to help ease some pain with a doula massage beforehand. She completely took care of the placenta pills- I didn't even see the placenta until it was nicely packaged in neat pill bottles, which is how I wanted it. Thanks for your help!
If you don't think you need a doula, THINK AGAIN!!! Cathy is a wonderful support person and excellent resource to have in any labor! She offers great support and pain management techniques through labor and delivery. Without her I can honestly say that my birth experience would not have been as smooth as it was. She makes sure that both you and your coach have everything you need while helping! Thank you Cathy for everything!
Hiring a doula was a great decision. This was my 5th pregnancy and first time hiring a doula. I wish I would've done it for my previous pregnancies. Cathy was awesome! She was calm, comforting, and kind. She knew exactly what to do and say at the perfect time. I developed a headache during labor. She soaked wash cloths in ice water and diffused peppermint oil. It was heavenly!! When labor became intense she kept me focused on breathing. Do not hesitate to hire Cathy! Also, my husband was a little Leary to hire a doula. Now he thinks it was a good decision.
My husband and I met Cathy for the first time in the hospital parking lot right before I was admitted. Both of us were discouraged, exasperated and about to throw in the towel of natural birth. Labor was more intense than either of us felt prepared for.
Then Cathy showed up and things quickly turned around. It was a moment I really won't forget.
In a matter of minutes my husband had clear direction as to how to help me and I was able to regain mental focus.
Had Cathy not been there, I probably would have gone straight for an epidural. Having her knowledge and encouragement helped me to persevere with our birth plan and have the experience that we had been working so hard toward.
I think nearly any doula would have benefitted us, but Cathy was exceptional. She anticipated my needs and picked up on my preferences. I let her know if anything was uncomfortable and she quickly adjusted her approach. I was surprised by how little direction I had to give her. Her intuition is spot on.
I ended up pushing for 5 exhausting hours, but between my husband, our midwife, and Cathy, there were points when I was still smiling in between contractions.
Cathy's most repeated phrase was "you are safe." That is exactly how I felt.
The amazing thing is, we had just met Cathy that morning. She was a backup for our original doula. We hadn't even talked with Cathy on the phone until that morning! (Due to my procrastination...) I am often uncomfortable around new people, however her gentle and confident personality put us at ease right away. We knew we could trust Cathy's judgement and she was so warm in her interactions with us.
I couldn't recommend Cathy any more highly. I would love to work with her again.
Cathy was really supportive during my pregnancy, birth, and after my baby arrived. Cathy was the doula at my birth and was AMAZING! She was such a great support person to have there and was so respectful of our wishes and decisions. I don't think that we would have had a successful VBAC without her. The end of my labor was stressful with some potential complications and Cathy was really great through everything. I think the biggest endorsement I can give is that my husband and I have said that I we have another child we would use A Joyful Journey Doula Services without even a second thought!! So glad we were able to have Cathy at our birth!
Cathy and Andrea are amazing doulas! I had them for my first childbirth and couldn't have been happier with the support that I received. They were always available when I had questions and helped me get through a drug-free childbirth for hours and hours until things got complicated and then they helped clear the room so my husband and I could make some decisions about moving forward. Although my birth plan didn't happen the way I wanted it to, I couldn't be happier with the experience overall and definitely wouldn't have made it through without Cathy and Andrea!
I recently gave birth to my third child and had hired Cathy to support me through my labor. I am so thankful that she was there! I am blessed with a beautiful birth experience and the gift of amazing memories of the day. I am sure that having Cathy there was a huge reason for that. She was exactly what I needed in every way. I felt so at ease and confident during my delivery. Before, during, and after the birth of my daughter, Cathy and her partner Andrea were supportive and always avaliable for questions or just to chat. They are both very personable and perfessional. I would trust either of them to do a fabulous job and would tell anyone thinking about hiring a doula to do it. Cathy and Andrea are totally worth it.
I ran into Cathy later in my pregnancy and was very lucky to do so. Cathy is a wonderful Doula. During our first meeting we put together my birth plan and she gave me tons of helpful information when putting it together. At our second visit, she met my partner and we all went over the birth plan. She also showed us pain management techniques and took the time to learn what I wanted my birth experience to be like and what we wanted out of her. We kept in touch about Dr visits and she often took the time to text and see how I was doing overall. When I went into labor every was happening pretty quickly so Cathy met us at the hospital. She arrived before us and she kept in touch with us while we were on our way, she talked me through contractions and did the best she could to make sure I was trying to stay calm when I told her I didn't think I could make it to the hospital with how close contractions were. I didn't get to expierence any pain management techniques because of how fast I gave birth after getting to the hospital but it was awesome to have her by my side because my partner was in such shock with how everything was happening. She was great support for my partner and I. She helped out with getting baby nursing for the first time, she took photos for us and stayed for a few hours after birth to make sure everything was going smoothly. If It wasn't for Cathy, I don't think my birth would have gone as good as it did. Cathy kept in touch with us after the birth to see how things were going. At the postpartum visit we did a lot of talking about the birth and the baby. She gave me a list of helpful resources and also brought me a small dish to warm up. If we ever add another little one to our family, Cathy will definitely be hired on as our Doula.
Cathy is an awesome doula! I was trying for a natural vbac in the hospital. Cathy met with us before the birth and really learned what *I* wanted and how i wanted things to go. She showed my husband some different techniques to help with pain management and talked about positions to labor in. she was supportive through my pregnancy, even with thing not related to my pregnancy. At 41 weeks i went in to either have a csection or be induced. When we got there the drs decided we could induce. Cathy helped me through the contractions, she gave ideas of positions to labor in, rubbed my back, showed my husband how to help, even pushed my iv pole to bathroom with me! She knew when i needed her and when my husband and i needed some time to ourselves. Unfortunately i ended up needing a csection, Cathy stayed til i was in recovery and made sure i was all set up before she left. Definately would recommend cathy to everyone and will be hiring her for my next birth!!
Trying to have a drug-free hospital birth these days is nearly impossible, but Cathy helped me out so much and made sure I got exactly what I wanted! She is very knowledgable in pain management and various techniques. I wouldn't have been able to do it without her and I would definitely highly recommend her!! She was fantastic, and if I do decide to have more children she will absolutely be there with me!
