I have unwavering gratitude for Yvonne who was my doula for the birth of my daughter in December 2017. Her prep sessions were a pleasure, we had great laughs and she answered all of our questions honestly and without judgement. I love her sense of humour, her confidence, her steadfastness, and her aura of absolute calm. She is equally intuitive and down-to-earth...exactly what we needed. When I went into labour 3 weeks early in the middle of the night, Yvonne was just a text and call away, ready to guide me as the most epic day of my life began. She was at my house as soon as we needed the extra pair of hands and helped me and my partner navigate what ended up being a natural labour. Her advice throughout the labour was invaluable and I trusted her implicitly. She was our advocate at the hospital and helped us communicate our needs clearly to the staff there. Even 3 months after my labour, Yvonne has been there to support me emotionally, to reassure me, and to help me through the challenges of the post-partum period. I also really appreciate all of the facebook groups, events, classes and get togethers that Rock the Cradle and their extended team offers. They are truly there to support birthing women and their partners in their journeys in different and ways. If you're wondering if a doula is for you, all I can tell you is not to hesitate, and to meet these women - they are dedicated and strong and will do everything to make your birthing experience a positive one.
We were very lucky to have Yvonne prepare and participate in the birth of our daughter. She is knowledgeable and helpful, with the ability to inform you of your choices without being judgmental. Both my husband and I agree our birth would not have been as wonderful without the help of Yvonne coaching us and helping us communicate our preferences to the hospital staff. Could not recommend her enough! Great support for a first time birth.
Yvonne is the best birth companion a couple could ask for: informative, enthusiastic, and always there when you need her. My birth experience was positive in large part thanks to her encouragement in the toughest parts of labor, supporting me and my husband until we delivered our baby. Yvonne is professional in her work and very warm in her approach. She was so devoted to us that we felt like she was Family… We wouldn't hesitate to ask her to be our doula again for future pregnancies!
It was an absolute pleasure getting to work with Yvonne. Her knowledge and calming prescence during the birth of our baby was absolutely wonderful and helped in providing us with an extremely positive birth experience. She was very available to answer any questions we had and I would highly recommend her as a doula. I only wish now that I had sought our her services with our first child as well. :)
I met yvonne thorugh a pregnancy circle run by Rock the cradle she was the perfect match for us throughout my pregnancy she offered us alot of support. Yvonne was always available by email phone and text message. My baby was born on wed april 5th by scheduled c section. I was very nervous for the procedure but yvonne was a great support to have during this time. Yvonne always affered great reasources by email such as relevant articles and other information. Our meetings with her have always been pleasurable and informative. Yvonne has a great personality and makes you feel very comfortable to ask questions and discuss certain topics yvonne was always on time and very relaible. We highly reccomend her to any couple for their pregnancy and delivery.
Thank you so much yvonne, you have truly helped make this experience a great one.
Silvia Majtenyi, Nick Gogos and baby William.
I debated for a while whether or not I needed a doula to accompany my husband and I through the birth of our first child. I'm so pleased with my decision. I didn't want an all natural birth. I just hoped I wouldn't need a c section, abe didn't want early epidural so that I wouldn't be stuck in bed for hours and hours. Yvonne gave me all the tools, suppprt and knowledge to make that happen!
Yvonne helped demystify the birth process. She acted as a bridge between us and the medical community by explaining in more depth what was going on, as well as the next expected steps, something that the medical team doesn't have the time to do.
Yvonne helped me prepare a realistic birth plan and the birth amazingly went as planned. She supported my husband and I through a most memorable labour. She looked after everything I needed but also had and eye out for my husband who wasn't comfortable through the whole experience.
Finally, Yvonne was my advocate throughout the labour and delivery. For example, she pushed for the oxytocin to be reduced as the contractions were too rapid and painful. She always gave me an alternative option which helped me make solid decisions.
I'm forever grateful to her for coaching us through the experience of a lifetime.
Thank you, Yvonne for sharing this beautiful journey with our family and helping us get through hardships of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding! I loved working with you and I would recommend your doula services to any of my friends.
Yvonne helped me feel informed and in control of my pregnancy during this vulnerable time. I felt supported and loved, which gave me confidence in my decisions. Her postnatal advice was the key to my breastfeeding success, and made a huge difference in my peace of mind.
I truly hope to have Yvonne by my side again in the future. Thank you for your kindness and wise advice, Yvonne.
We had prenatal classes with Yvonne and she also came inside the delivery room when we had our first daughter. She respects my wishes and is very supportive. I wanted my delivery to be done without epidural and other intervention. Throughout the labour, she helped me relieve pain, kept me informed what was happening with my body, knew when to call in the Dr. When it became difficult, she reminded me how strong I was and kept me positive. She made this experience much easier. Altogether, I had a positive experience at child delivery, and it was with her help.
I highly recommend Yvonne Pelling as a doula for her professionalism, friendliness, and her extensive knowledge of the birthing process, both pre and post partum. She was an amazing coach for my wife (and for me as well!) We kept our birthing plan simple and specific, and Yvonne worked very dilligently to make it all happen with as minimal stress as possible.
My wife and I contacted Yvonne to assist before, during and after the delivery of our first child. Our plan was to have a natural birth and Yvonned helped us throughly, with many 1x1 sections, answering our questions and educating us on what to expect. My wife unfortunately had to go with a c-section, after hours of an intense labour. For us, having Yvonned on our side at the hospital was a bless.
She was key in helping to keep the calm and tranquility during the entire labour. After our son was born, she came for a post-partum visit and made sure all was well and that we had no questions unanswered. Again, it goes without saying, how appreciative of her support we are. Truly enjoy meeting her and going through this emotional process with a person how is serene and experienced.
From our family: Thank you Yvonne Pelling!
Yvonne is simply amazing. Her calm way of handling every kind of situation regarding birth reassures every future parents. Especially during labour Yvonne and my husband too never gave up to encourage and support me and Yvonne could help ease my pain tremendously with special exercises. She also is a specialist in aromatherapy which helps to relax and makes you feel more comfortable during labour. Only because of this support I was finally able to give birth without an epidural, even though I begged for it at some point.
What I like the most though is that whatever question might come up during pregnancy or after giving birth at whatever time of the day she would answer right away. This feels so good and helpful in times that might not always be easy. She is always there for you. I recommend her 120%.
Thanks Yvonne and keep up your great work!
initial weeks after bringing the babies home ( we have 3infants, yes, triplets!) having Yvonne helped us immensely to get organized and on top of things.
She always knew what to do, where to be and how to help. I never had to ask her for anything, she would look at the situation and just know what is the right thing to do. I never felt like having a stranger with me at home.
To top it all, she is super good with the babies. I felt very comfortable leaving them with her.
If i have to summarize it in one word, I would say having her was just "wonderful"!
i would recommend her time and again :-)
If you are giving birth at a hospital, I highly recommend getting a doolah! And Yvonne Pelling has such a unique calm nature about her that she is very comforting presence to have around during and after your birth.
In a businnes that just wants you in and out as quckly as possible, it's nice to have a familiar face in the room that is there solely for you, the mother. To comfort you, encourage you, and help you feel in touch with your body so it can do what nature intended. She taught me a breathing technique that really helped to manage the contractions, as well as massaged me to help relieve the pain. She even used aromatherapy to give me bursts of energy during my labour. I wanted to try to birth without an epidural, and I acheived that goal, but I wouldn't have been able to do without her.
Post partum, Yvonne is like a sister, therapist and housekeeper all rolled into one! She has a natural ability with babies, and I felt very comfortable leaving mine in her care. She can change a diaper in the blink of an eye and was able to put mine to sleep easier and more quickly than I can! She tended to my little one and my housekeeping so I could eat, shower, rest, go to appointments, etc. She has lots of advice and tips on breastfeeding, sleeping habits/schedules, integrating with older sibblings, and even meal prep ideas. And she was there for me when I simply needed someone to talk to.
I would definitely recommend Yvonne!
Yvonne is incredibly professional, always responded to my questions in a timely matter. She always provided me with additional information and suggestions to my questions. Before labour, I decided I did not want to have the epidural and Yvonne was able to support and encourage me throughout my labour because I was definitely yelling for the epidural during my labour. She was also able to guide my husband with what to do, because otherwise he would have no clue. I would definitely recommend her to my friends as well as hire her as my doula again for my second pregnancy.
Yvonne was the perfect Doula for us! She is knowledgeable and yet always allowed us to chose our own path through pregnancy, early labour at home as well as labour and birthing at the hospital. She and my husband were an amazing team supporting me through labour. I can't imagine what our experience would have been without her strong, yet not overbearin presence. She empowered both my husband and I to rise to the challenging adventure of labour in a way that I know we would not have managed on our own. We had a post-natal meeting today and it was everything I'd hoped for, including hands on help with breastfeeding and the space to safely express my emotions about labour and the birthing experience. Thank you Yvonne!
Yvonne was frankly amazing! She was kind, helpful, non-judgemental, understanding, patient, and available before, during, and after our birth. At the hospital, we would have been lost without her and she helped immensely in ensuring that we had ownership over our birthing experience. Nothing could have happened as it did without her patient advice and trusted counsel. She helped us get prepared beforehand and then shone under the spotlight when it came down to the delivery itself. She was, simply, above and beyond all expectations!
Yvonne made the birth of my second baby a truly amazing experience. She provided exactly the support I needed- and missed with the birth of my first baby. She had a sense of humour when I needed it, and was strong and supportive throughout. She helped me with my breathing during difficult contractions, and suggested different labouring methods I could try when she saw I needed it. Toward the end of the birth I squeezed her hand so hard I thought I may have broken it! However, she never let on that she was in pain. That's how good she is! Yvonne was also very supportive and reassuring leading up to birth. And checked up on me directly after. I wouldn't think twice about having her by my side again!
I was referred to Yvonne when pregnant for my first child. She walked me through what I could expect during the pregnancy and looked at all of the birthing alternatives available to me in detail. She was with me every step of the way as the big day approached and helped with the fear, the uncertainty and the unknown.
At the hospital, during the worst of the labour when my husband didn't know what to do and I felt like I would never have the energy to get through it, Yvonne was able to reassure me and help me find the strength within to make it on what is the most memorable day of my life to date. She was able to calm and support my husband who felt powerless faced with such raw pain he couldn't fix.
A doula is the bedrock, the foundation of birthing the way you want to. They're your advocate, your helper, your cheer-leading squad and your voice of reason all rolled into one. Yvonne is an amazing choice and she fills every one of those roles admirably.
Yvonne was our Doula for the birth of our daughter in November 2013. She was a friend of a friend and I was fortunate to be referred to her. Our first meeting was casual where we got the chance to know her and decide if we wanted her to be our doula. My first impression of her was that she was kind and easy going but tough, a good person to have on your side in a fight. We had 3 pre-baby meetings after that where she explained to us everything we would need to know about giving birth in a hospital. She is very knowledgable and able to convey that knowledge to you without scaring you with too many details. She was able to help me feel comfortable with my decision to not have an epidural and encouraged me with details on why that would be a good choice. When I felt I might be in labour she was the first person I contacted and we remained in contact throughout my 24 hours of labour. By the time I thought we should go to the hospital it was 3 am and she met us there. I ended up giving birth at 11am and Yvonne was by our side the whole time. She had tricks that helped me deal with the pain and discomfort. We were so happy she was with us when we ended up in triage for over 4 hours and didn't know what was going on. Yvonne was like our own private insider that could help me deal with the pain as well as assure us being in triage wasn't a bad thing and that everything was going fine. Without her I'm sure my husband and I would have been confused and scared that we were essentially being ignored by the too busy hospital staff. During active labour Yvonne stepped up where my husband kind of clammed up, she encouraged me, held my legs back and was there the moment my daughter was born. It was an incredible experience and we were lucky to have Yvonne there with us. I encourage all new mothers to be to hire a doula and I recommend Yvonne to anyone considering one. She really was wonderful.
Yvonne's prenatal information sessions leading up to the delivery were straight-forward and informative. We never felt rushed and she was always capable and willing to answer any questions we came up with. But more so, Yvonne was absolutely integral throughout our labour and delivery. Firstly, delivering on New Years Day - Eve made herself available the moment we called with news I would require induction. She arrived to the hospital in the brutal cold and her presence calmed us instantly. The techniques she used (positioning, oils, massage) helped to keep us calm and she kept us informed when decisions needed to be made during some intense moments of our emergency induction. 33 hours of guidance brought us to finally meeting our precious boy. As I look back on those days in hospital, I cannot imagine having done it without her by our side.
We consider her an essential component at the birth of our son. She was, and continues to be, an invaluable resource to us. We continue to feel a bond to you that is not easily explained. Thank you Yvonne.
I recommend hiring Yvonne without hesitation for your pregnancy/ labour. She met with us several times during the pregnancy for prenatal classes, she emailed/texted with me whenever I had questions , stayed with me throughout what turned out to be a very long labour (at the hospital and at home) and even came to our house once the baby arrived to follow up and check on breastfeeding and other questions we had. She was reliable and always available, attentive and calm. Her demeanour is professional yet friendly and she managed to reassure us every step of the way. I intended to have a relatively natural labour but these things never turn out as you plan of course ! I ultimately had a long complicated delivery with some unforeseen obstacles but looking back I felt like it was a relative breeze and don't know how I could have done it so seemlessly without her! Most of all, she played the very important role of reassuring and informing my husband at every phase of my labour so that he was able to enjoy the experience too. As first time parents her services were instrumental and central to our birth story. She knows just what to say and do every step of the way !!! We were so grateful and feel blessed to have met her.
