After a very long and difficult labor and unplanned hospital birth, Tyne was an invaluable sourse of support to me and my family. I found myself unprepared for the many challenges that come in the first few weeks of postpartum life. She prepared meals for me while I nursed, provided me with breastfeeding support, and helped me figure out how to wear my newborn so that I can regain some independence in those first weeks at home alone. Tyne made herself emotionally available to me day and night when I was overwhelmed by new role as a mother. Her deep understanding of the postpartum experience and her gentle, warm guidance helped me gain the confidence that I needed to care for myself and my son on my own terms. I am immensely grateful to Tyne for being there for me during the most beautiful, hard, amazing, heartbreaking, and transformative time my life.

Tyne was wonderful, from our first conversation through our continued interactions after my son was born. She is a calming presence, and her touch soothed me during the most challenging moments of my long labor.  I had a hospital birth and wanted to have as few interventions as possible. She supported my husband and me as we made decisions and helped us have clarity when our sleep-deprived brains were struggling to understand our options, from deciding to stay at the hospital in early labor to ideas for progressing labor many hours later. My husband was initially skeptical about our need for our doula, but after the birth, he said he could not have imagined going through it without her. She brought him much needed relief so he could sleep, applied counterpressure when my back labor was intense, calmed me through my worst contractions, gave us new suggestions of positions to try, chased my water bottle around the room and made sure I was never thirsty or hungry, and took photos that I didn't know how much I would treasure when my son was born.

My husband was initially skeptical about our need for a doula, but after the birth, he said he could not have imagined going through it without her. She brought him much needed relief so he could sleep late in labor, applied counterpressure when my back labor was intense, calmed me through my worst contractions, gave us new suggestions of positions to try, chased my water bottle around the room and made sure I was never thirsty or hungry, and took photos that I didn't know how much I would treasure when my son was born. She was easily the best decision we made for the birth.

Tyne also provided an individual, personalized breastfeeding class in my home for a very reasonable fee before the birth, and it was invaluable. She answered questions I had before and after birth and checked on me regularly, and lent us very helpful books about birth and newborns. She also makes a mean chocolate chip cookie.
