Ryan was my doula for my second home birth (and how I wish she was with me for my first as well). Ryan encouraged me greatly during pregnancy and I was able to discuss and work through any lingering fears from my first birth with her guidance and support. She was available to me for discussion and prayer when concerns regarding my pregnancy and upcoming birth arose. She ensured her prenatal care for me developed a trusting relationship between us. I was so comfortable and bonded with her when my birthing time came.
During my somewhat long labor, Ryan's calm voice and loving words were like an anchor for me. She kept me focused on my baby, my body's capability, and my powerful God. During some exceptionally low moments for me mentally and physically, she was unwavering. She inherently knew when to be close and when to allow me space. While I hope mine is the only birth she attends with the complications and scary moments we encountered, she proved her strength and value.
I wish I could relive my birth as a "fly on the wall" specifically to watch Ryan and how beautifully she goes about her work. She is knowledgeable and experienced, but more importantly she is intuitive. She is truly gifted.
Ryan was an absolute delight! She prepped both my husband and I so well. We never took any classes, which we would have but given our crazy schedules it just wasn't possible. With that being said, Ryan addressed every concern we had as well an informed us of what to expect in the hospital and what our options were as parents. She wanted what we wanted. When I was in labor we finally called her down when contractions were really intense. She helped guide me on comfortable positioning and coached me during my labor. I'm so thankful we had Ryan there. I know my husband was too. But I really have to give it to her, she helped my husband prepare and he was nothing but helpful the entire time. Thank you Ryan for helping us experience such a special birth! We love you!!!
Ryan was my doula for my 3rd child. She was a God send for me and my family. We had a doula for my 2nd child, and she was taking time off to be with her newborn baby. I worried about finding a doula that I connected with and felt comfortable with, since my first doula was so perfect. God totally provided Ryan, who was different than my first doula, but exactly what I needed.
Some background about my pregnancy: I was planning on a hospital, un-medicated birth. Well, I basically had every issue from GD, to GBS +, to protein in my urine, to yeast infection. It was a mess! And the only way I could have my unmedicated birth, was to have a home birth. I had already hired Ryan, but had to scramble to get a midwife. Ryan was a rock the whole time, sending me facts/evidence/and support to help me decide about the home birth and natural ways to take care of all my issues. She knows so much information about women, birthing, and pregnancy- even more than some OBGYNs I have met. I love that she believes in the woman's ability to birth without fear and medical intervention. When my labor started, she knew that my baby would come quickly (my labor was only 3.5 hours- sorry ladies). She advised me to call my midwife as soon as my labor started, and good thing I did! By the time they were finished getting set up, I was pushing my cute baby out!
I highly recommend Ryan and am so thankful she was there to support me throughout my pregnancy, labor, and beyond.
Ryan was the calm in the storm. She was an anchor and a blessing to have with me at my birth. We had a very quick labor. It was my first birth I had no idea what to expect and what was going on. However Ryan knew exactly what was happening. She told me it was all going to be alright and that it was normal. She got me through the labor and probably saved me from having my son in the car. She knew that even though I had just left the birth center 30mins prior it was time to go back. With out her me and my significant other would of been in the dark. My son came faster then we thought he would, so my photographer didn't even have time to show up. His little head popped out and Ryan jumped up "oh dear... You wanted pictures!!!" thanks to her I have some shots of thee most important day of my life. My boyfriend and in both agreed we wouldn't have been able to do it without Ryan. She was our rock, and She claimed us both, so we were able to welcome our son into the world with happy smiles. I would and have recommended Ryan as a Doula, in a heartbeat. She is a joy that i would be honored to have at any of my future births. Xoxo Nicole
Having Ryan as my doula gave me so much peace of mind during labor! It was invaluable having someone there who is so knowledgeable about birth because it alllowed me to let go of a lot of anxieties and focus--especially in the time she was with me before my midwife came. When my labor became really difficult, I wasn't really aware of my surroundings and most of the time didnt know exactly who was where, but I clearly remember hearing Ryan's voice reminding me to breath for my baby and keeping me calm--her voice through the blurryness is one of the most vivid and comforting memories I have of labor.
Ryan came highly recommended to me by my midwife. From our very first consultation I felt that Ryan was the perfect match for our home birth team. She is very knowledgable, caring, passionate about natural birthing, and very reliable. We had discovered toward the end of my pregnancy that our baby was not in the proper position for a home birth and despite all attempts, would not turn head down. Our plans for our baby's home birth then changed drastically however our doula Ryan stood by our side throughout it all. From our one on one meetings to coming to our midwife appointment, meeting us at the hospital after our scheduled Caesarian section delivery, to coming to our house once we were home to visit and offer her loving support to us. She was even willing to be with my husband and I in the operating or recovery room if the hospital had allowed her. I can't thank Ryan enough for her support during one of the most emotionally trying yet happiest times of my life. I highly recommend her doula services to anyone looking for a passionate and caring labor support person. My husband and I look forward to having Ryan partner with us again when we go for baby #2. (A VBAC of course!)

Ryan was my doula for the birth of my 2nd son; my first home birth. My first son was born at a hospital with an epidural. During my second pregnancy I decided to go the natural route. Even though I had been through childbirth before, I had no idea what to expect for a natural home birth, and was nervous I wouldn't be able to handle it. I wanted the reassurance of having a labor coach who believed in me and was knowledgeable about the labor process. I chose Ryan because she had worked with my midwife before, she had a home birth herself, she was knowledgeable about essential oils, and we also had our faith in common as well. Ryan was very supportive throughout the last few weeks leading up to baby's birthday (and postpartum as well). My home birth ended up going quite differently than expected (as birth has the potential to do :)) She kept her cool and took control in a stressful situation. I am so grateful Ryan was there for us. Ryan loves birth, and I believe she is meant to work in the birth industry.
